AMAZING! The BEST drama I have seen in years. Best acting by EVERYONE. What a storyline, what incredible actors.....So wonderful, and the plot twist at the end was such a shock, but made believable by the writing and acting...and Granny is ALIVE!

I'm so glad I found this series! I am addicted to ancient Asian drama series, they are timeless to me. While "Song of Youth" started off in an odd way to me, the character development was genius. To watch the characters evolve, deal with their issues as they chose; rather they failed or succeeded was great. There are so many life lessons in these episodes, people are often what they seem, sometimes more, sometimes less. I loved how a woman thought to be lowly was actually higher and was more tactical than any of the other characters that were considered tiitled elite. She solved so many problems and epitomizes the quote" If there is a will, there is a way". I do wish things had been tidied up more completely, better reunions for the most part. I still commend the writers and directors, this was a piece of wonderful!
Royal Feast, Legend of Haolan, Princess Weiyang, Yanxi Palace, Court Lady. These are good recommendations and shows to watch for ancient Chinese drama, you might even see some the same actors in some of these shows, I hope you guys would enjoy them ;)
Although I'm happy with the twist at the ending, I wish they gave us at least two more episodes to fully wrap up this amazing drama. They kind of rushed the ending by not building up to the climax earlier and so they ended up fitting a lot into the final 2 episodes. There was so much content to digest... they really put me on an emotional rollercoaster to end the drama. They cut A LOT of scenes and episodes -- I wish they would have stuck to the original 50 episode length. Yu Lou, Shao Chun and the whole Sun family deserved a longer ending. I would even be content with them showing the entire family reuniting in front of the Sun manor... having said that, my love for this drama did not dwindle because of the rushed ending. I still enjoyed the ending, I just wished it was longer. This is easily my favourite drama of the year. I loved every single thing about this light, ancient family drama. In terms of the high-quality production, story concept and script-writing, directing, cinematography, sets and costumes, casting, acting and music... it was all done beautifully and exceptionally well! The producers created a story with a focus on family, but with characters and relationships that are contrary to traditional conventions. The uniqueness of these atypical characters with their role-reversed relationships added a charm to the story that really endeared you. I thought the directors and writers did a phenomenal job in executing the story while the entire cast did a wonderful job of bringing their characters to life. I adore the FL and ML in particular, and was so taken by their love story. Shao Chun and Yu Lou have one of the most pure and loving relationships ever. Not only were they devoted to each other from start to finish, they also worked together to protect those they care about. They are a true power couple that stole my heart... just like this drama did. I will miss watching this drama and the Sun family dearly.

I agree. They must have too much because I started getting anxiety at episode 39 and almost quit the drama altogether because it was rushed evilness lol. They need to split a drama into 2 parts like other productions are doing instead of cutting.
I was also expecting the whole family reuniting in their manor, but they did rushed the ending with that emotional meeting... Overall it was another amazing family drama to me.
Unfortunately, the ending was not a surprise to me because I watched the first 41 episodes on Amazon Prime but there is no 42nd episode. This is the second time Amazon Prime did this, same for "My Heroic Husband". I was in Hong Kong when this happened and could not find this final episode until today. So I Googled it and read the ending, now three weeks later when I returned to California, I am now able to access and watch this finally episode. I would have enjoyed it so much more if I had watched it before reading the ending.
What a beautiful story !!! Rarely I have seen or read such an intricate plot with continuous twits and turns and the WONDERFUL love stories. Even the final surprised me. But what I loved most was the underlying message of LOVE, MORALITY and INTEGRITY. I cried the entire last 15 minutes of this final episode. The authors, the producers and the actors all deserve a PRIZE. I would like to understand the lyrics of the song. PLEASE write for me the lyrics of the song; I think they appear on the right of the screen between 39:00 and 42:00. I will then translate them. THANKS
Bai Lu did not disappoint--Liy, Yu Ling's soothing vocals on the OST, Jackie Ki's an excellent actress great comedian; Wang Yizhe so cute and he delivered in his role; Jin Chen. and the daddy Zhang, Zheng Yang ---this was worth the view thanks
I felt like we should have seen the full family back home, including DiZhi and second brother. They all deserved that and we deserved that too. Lol oh well. I'm happy it worked out❤
This series is indeed a lesson to most of us youth.this shows how patience n tolerance we have to be more especially when it comes to decision making and how to express our attitude towards it.I'm impressed with it👍
Boy oh boy what an exciting drama. The producers should be given an AWARD. Thought for one minute that my heroine has betrayed the Sun family. Thank God for such a wonderful ending. Could u please show something similar with all the twist and turns of such journey of life.
But , now looking back, according to the series, the sun family have a total of 8 children, 4 boys 4 girls , 7 of which are or were married, but it's only that 1st son's family that was recorded to have a kid.lets leave the second son out cause he's always occupied with wars and all that, but, noble consort sun(the first daughter) , sun you de(the second daughter) ,and the third daughter have been married for long , like 11, 7 and like 6/5 years respectively ,still none bore any children, it just baffles me
Only thing I can think is they didn't want to cast children actors, cause there is no reasonable reason for the others to not have children after so many years
What an absolutely lovely drama! I really enjoyed this! I love how sweet and pure the storyline is, the right people win in the end, the bad guys get theirs, it's a delightful ride that's for sure. And all the couples are incredibly sweet and well done. The leads are just the sweetest thing since sugar and this ending between them? Perfect. Their relationship is just adorable. Loved every moment of this show. Hope we get something else with the same values and quality soon.
What a happy family (the Sun Family). What a great ending, too..If I were to speak for the Liang clan, I am not ready to tell the world what happened back then. When I get around to it, mostly it will read, ..."time will tell". I doubt if I can write up the whole story because I wasn't born back then (a long history).

Even though it is a good ending i still feel very bad about Yu Lou imagine he has to leave his home and wander outside for several years while feeling guilty about his family and without anyone by his side. His father and Shao Chun could have regret it for life if Yu Lou decide to commit suicide because he believe he has already lose everything

Such wonderful drama. I really loved Sun Family very much. Everyone in family has his own strength and weakness. Drama did shown us all. First son who was blind for mistress and never looked for honest wife but then he changed his path once he knows that who is good. I think he was looking down on her since she is not from scholars family and don't know manners and etiquette. But when she started teaching Kungfu and found her own worthiness he began to fall for her. That was good development in character. Second son lost his love but then again fall in love. I fill very bad for his first wife. She was left on first night of marriage and so I understand why she made her decision to have affair but she was not bad woman she never betrayed her family. The only thing is she fall for bad guy. There was no need for her to die for that man. I find here plothole because Feng Yuan try to influence imperial consort and frame SYZ so he would be executed by emperor. But they did not show this. Second brother's new lover is the best person I have seen in any drama. She had good looks and also from noble family she was the second best person to marry ML. But our ML already had FL in his heart 💓 . She never backstabbed FL she when she was chasing ML. On the other hand she was encouraging them . Without her ML and FL could not been together. Third brother was not good in studies and sword but his was intelligent and would like to produce new things. But he was fool 😂😂 . He loved his wife very much so that he was always ready to receive her punishment. Initially I thought his wife is bad person but then I was ok for her little bit scheming. She never harmed FL or any other family members. So it's ok for little bit scheming. The thing is in other dramas it is always shown that scheming person is bad and can cause harm to family members or betray family for money or for revenge but she was not like that. She only wanted little bit money and not more. Now comes our Main Lead. Both love each other very much have good mutual understanding and respect. No need for me write for them. It was very heartbreaking for him to accept the fact that his beloved father was mastermind behind her family tragedy and she is the reason why his family broke apart and his father died. How did he survived I can't imagine. I wish FL would love him more than anything. I always thought he loves her more than she loves him. But it is ok at the end. ML father is model person who who is very loyal to king has courage . He accepted our ML open hearty. Although initially he was against their marriage but he never forced his son for second marriage and never looked down her after marriage. And was always good to FL after marriage. His wife is also good person. Once she knows FL is good and kind hearted and really love FL she never opposed their marriage. She always try to maintain harmony in family. She is not typical MIL. I wish they could have produced two more episodes to show Sun Family dinning again with Father Mother and all for brothers with their wives and Grandchildren of each own. Then it would have been very good to watch such big and prosperous family.
I rarely comment on dramas because I'm usually disappointed in one aspect or another and I prefer to be positive. Plus, honestly I've come to expect crappy endings so it has to be REALLY bad/good to even make an impression. But for anyone who has become like me, reading the comments of the last episode to decide if it's worth your time, just go ahead back to episode 1 and press play. I feel like someone heard my C-Drama prayers because they ticked so many boxes with this one. Just tons of things this drama didn't do that made it a great show for me. I could go on, but if you watched it you get it, and if you're planning on it, you will soon ✌🏾💜

Wow 😳 ! I love this drama ! The music 🎶 goes so well . This is the third time I've watch " Song of youth " . I finally understood that this plotting that was going down was to catch the culprit finally ! Her poor husband thought she betrayed his family but she was actually helping his father and the Emperor . I felt so sad 😭 to see her husband so distraught but in the end they finally united and went back home together . Love the ML and FL . Congratulations to the casts and whoever made this drama possible . Would have loved to seen the power couple arrive home and also first brother getting back together with his wife after being out at the battle but that's what our imagination is for Yaya ! Thank you again .
What a wonderful but touching ending with final cases! Lin Shao Chun is a wonderful woman who grew up without parents and who can solve many cases and problems in the Sun family. She is very intelligent and can also show her inconspicuous tricks. Bai Lu is a great character actress who portrayed her role Lin Shao Chun very well. This also applies to Wan Yi Zhe, who portrayed Sun Yu Lo. But he could have improved her posture and body language a bit. It's a very long 43 episodes that I've ever seen this Chinese series. Really exciting, emotional, dramatic, comedic, and partly criminal - all in a nice mixture of the different episodes... The conversations in the family and with the emperor often deal with family problems, lessons, and solutions. Hats off to all the great team of actors! Congratulations to the great actresses, whom I admire very much: Gina Jin Qiao Xin Jacki Li (aka Wu Yue Hong) with her great martial arts and comedic facial features Thanks again for the English subtitle
I have to applaud that audience for watching that puppet show for 2 days straight. Great show! I would have stayed two full days watching the show myself. My only problem with the show is time that pass in the order of events sometimes fell off. Like in the last episode did she wait 5 years before looking for her master. First daughter in law was pregnant. Then she she has a 5 year old son before 4 th daughter looks for her husband.
I don't want this drama to end😢 Shao Chun sacrificed being separated with yu lou to topple down the crook. She almost lost him. I wish this drama will have a season 2🙏

其实吧，内娱天然颜值高，演技上线的演员很多，但大多未必红，红的，未必有颜有演技，说穿了，就是本身有没有后台背景，接不接受潜规则，会不会来事儿，是否不择手段往上爬罢了。

I think the problem was it didn't get a very good rating in China so they cut it short in the end. A pity indeed.

刚开始看到孙老爷死的时候差点弃剧了！甚至讨厌少春了，后面剧情反转真是太棒了！喜欢看圆满的结局！

Even though it is a good ending i still feel very bad about Yu Lou imagine he has to leave his home and wander outside for several years while feeling guilty about his family and without anyone by his side. His father and Shao Chun could have regret it for life if Yu Lou decide to commit suicide because he believe he has already lose everything

Such wonderful drama. I really loved Sun Family very much. Everyone in family has his own strength and weakness. Drama did shown us all.
First son who was blind for mistress and never looked for honest wife but then he changed his path once he knows that who is good. I think he was looking down on her since she is not from scholars family and don't know manners and etiquette. But when she started teaching Kungfu and found her own worthiness he began to fall for her. That was good development in character.
Second son lost his love but then again fall in love. I fill very bad for his first wife. She was left on first night of marriage and so I understand why she made her decision to have affair but she was not bad woman she never betrayed her family. The only thing is she fall for bad guy. There was no need for her to die for that man. I find here plothole because Feng Yuan try to influence imperial consort and frame SYZ so he would be executed by emperor. But they did not show this.
Second brother's new lover is the best person I have seen in any drama. She had good looks and also from noble family she was the second best person to marry ML. But our ML already had FL in his heart 💓 . She never backstabbed FL she when she was chasing ML. On the other hand she was encouraging them . Without her ML and FL could not been together.
Third brother was not good in studies and sword but his was intelligent and would like to produce new things. But he was fool 😂😂 . He loved his wife very much so that he was always ready to receive her punishment. Initially I thought his wife is bad person but then I was ok for her little bit scheming. She never harmed FL or any other family members. So it's ok for little bit scheming. The thing is in other dramas it is always shown that scheming person is bad and can cause harm to family members or betray family for money or for revenge but she was not like that. She only wanted little bit money and not more.
Now comes our Main Lead. Both love each other very much have good mutual understanding and respect. No need for me write for them. It was very heartbreaking for him to accept the fact that his beloved father was mastermind behind her family tragedy and she is the reason why his family broke apart and his father died. How did he survived I can't imagine. I wish FL would love him more than anything. I always thought he loves her more than she loves him. But it is ok at the end.
ML father is model person who who is very loyal to king has courage . He accepted our ML open hearty. Although initially he was against their marriage but he never forced his son for second marriage and never looked down her after marriage. And was always good to FL after marriage. His wife is also good person. Once she knows FL is good and kind hearted and really love FL she never opposed their marriage. She always try to maintain harmony in family. She is not typical MIL.
I wish they could have produced two more episodes to show Sun Family dinning again with Father Mother and all for brothers with their wives and Grandchildren of each own. Then it would have been very good to watch such big and prosperous family.

不錯的一部戲，演員演的很好，只是結局太狗血，既然孫遜沒死，下道公文就好了，四少爺就知道真相了，不就回家團圓了嗎？
I rarely comment on dramas because I'm usually disappointed in one aspect or another and I prefer to be positive. Plus, honestly I've come to expect crappy endings so it has to be REALLY bad/good to even make an impression. But for anyone who has become like me, reading the comments of the last episode to decide if it's worth your time, just go ahead back to episode 1 and press play. I feel like someone heard my C-Drama prayers because they ticked so many boxes with this one. Just tons of things this drama didn't do that made it a great show for me. I could go on, but if you watched it you get it, and if you're planning on it, you will soon ✌🏾💜

最终，没有看到孙逊把那个爱他一生的初恋收回到他的身边，真的是觉得很不公平，他们那些临别忏悔相对而言就显得虚伪了！尤其是大太太，当初用那样的谎言夺了别人的所爱，孙逊也攀附权贵选择了高枝，他们夫妇在这方面被一带而过，没有给出一个圆满的答案，这是让人意难平之处😠

Wow 😳 ! I love this drama ! The music 🎶 goes so well . This is the third time I've watch " Song of youth " . I finally understood that this plotting that was going down was to catch the culprit finally ! Her poor husband thought she betrayed his family but she was actually helping his father and the Emperor . I felt so sad 😭 to see her husband so distraught but in the end they finally united and went back home together . Love the ML and FL . Congratulations to the casts and whoever made this drama possible . Would have loved to seen the power couple arrive home and also first brother getting back together with his wife after being out at the battle but that's what our imagination is for Yaya ! Thank you again .

What a wonderful but touching ending with final cases! Lin Shao Chun is a wonderful woman who grew up without parents and who can solve many cases and problems in the Sun family. She is very intelligent and can also show her inconspicuous tricks.
Bai Lu is a great character actress who portrayed her role Lin Shao Chun very well. This also applies to Wan Yi Zhe, who portrayed Sun Yu Lo. But he could have improved her posture and body language a bit.
It's a very long 43 episodes that I've ever seen this Chinese series. Really exciting, emotional, dramatic, comedic, and partly criminal - all in a nice mixture of the different episodes... The conversations in the family and with the emperor often deal with family problems, lessons, and solutions.

I have to applaud that audience for watching that puppet show for 2 days straight.
Great show! I would have stayed two full days watching the show myself.
My only problem with the show is time that pass in the order of events sometimes fell off. Like in the last episode did she wait 5 years before looking for her master. First daughter in law was pregnant. Then she she has a 5 year old son before 4 th daughter looks for her husband.
I don't want this drama to end😢 Shao Chun sacrificed being separated with yu lou to topple down the crook. She almost lost him. I wish this drama will have a season 2🙏
