  • Named after the Ravishing One, pulling a Rick Rude is when a wrestler appears on two different wrestling promotions' televised shows on the same day. When Rick Rude did it - it was a major moment in the history of the Monday Night Wars - and while it wouldn't happen again for nearly 18 years.. it has happened a handful of times with stars from WWE, AEW, TNA and other companies that you wouldn't expect.

    Rick Rude never had a contract with WWE at that time. He was on a handshake and pay per appearance agreement. It was apparently $1500-$3000 per show

    Wow, I never knew Rick Rude cut that promo on Nitro about the screwjob. That should be talked about in the screwjob lore.

      That means a lot - cheers. RUclips these days has a lot of ai generated and faceless channels all repeating each other- i love when i can put out something, whether its one entry or a whole list, that hasnt gotten spotlight. This one was really fun and i actually found a sixth since that will likely have to be its own youtube short

    Is this going to be Wrestling's "Gordie Howe Hat-Trick"? Omega showing up in two different countries at the same time takes the gimmick to another level. While defending a title. Crazy.

    Lex Luger? The tall guy that hung with Curt Angle?

    • @JOBdOut
      @JOBdOut  2 месяца назад +1

      When Luger debuted on Nitro there was no wwf show on that week. He worked a wwf house show on Sunday and then Nitro on Monday. By tall guy do you mean Luther Reigns? What show was on the same day as smackdown in 2004?

    • @pdragonw

      There was no Raw that Monday.

    i've always been very confused by the rick rude thing. WHEN WAS RAW AFTER SURVIVOR SERIES TAPED? the most obvious question of all time that noone acknowledges. here's why. scenraio 1. they taped it prior to survivor series. problem? so they managed to pull off the screw job after taping the stuff to explain it with noone letting hte secret out? impossible to many people invvolved. by my count at least 100-125 if including the backstage and production people. scenario 2. they taped it the nexgt morning. ok problems here are rude was pissed. and i mean majorly. i mean on a 1-10 scale at least a 50. so he showed up the next day to taping for what? the air fare to get to nitro? that makes even less sense than scenario number 1. did he show up hoping vince would have a good reason? again doesn't make snese. did he show up knowing they'd air at the same time? that makes sense but again why? i mean raw's 2 plus hours. flights several plus time to change planes, hope no delays, etc. very tight time frame. unless eric had told him get there when you can we'll deal with it then. just for the record i have absolutely no problem with what rude or luger did. first let's address rude. he was on a night to night deal. he litterally first thing he did when he showed up for raw or a taping was to sign a contract for that evening. like litterally first thing. rick's here! good send him to jr's office. (or who ever was head of talent at time which i think was jr.) even if jr's claim that they were working on a longer term deal is and was true, don't care. he was only under obligation for showing up when asked, and was paid based on that. once he's in the door and signs the night to night deal, that's a different story. its just like in the real world when a boss either pretends a conversation didn't happen because it was off the clock or insists on you clocking in before having a discussion on almost any and everything. bottom line? rude did nothing wrong, morrally or legally. now to luger. i do have a slightly bigger issue with this than rude just cause of the way it went down. (him hiding it for 3 or more months depending on version of the story). but wwf wouldn't have gotten into that problem had they just put him on even the most basic contract they give the job guys. my question is why did luger keep working? and for that matter what were they paying him? i'm assuming he didn't work for free. and who was the idiot that let him work for apparently around 3 months (maybe a bit more) iwth no contract? i mean even if you're negotiating (and again if luger was doing so in bad faith that's another issue), then why not at least get him on a night to night deal. something happens you're liable. and he's not under contract you could get sued. now me? i' d never let myself be put in that situation. i don't have a contract i don't woirk. period. now if i really like working for you and we both know it's just a matter of time before we get a new contract worked out, i might be willing to work on a night to night deal, or per appearance, or work under the old contract as far as money per appearance till we get it worked out. but i'm certainly not working with no contract if i'm planning on leaving. i'd rather have a 3 month vacation. i've got a bigger issue with wwf being "so smart" thinking that wouldn't come back to bite them right on their rear end. and then just a few weeks later it happened again more or less with medusa. except she wasn't under contract and wasn't wrestling for wwf. (may have been in japan or else wehre but not as a wwf girl). it's a wonder with that stupidity wwf survived.

      Survivor series was nov 9.
      The raw after survivor series was nov 10.
      This raw, the one that airs on nov 17 was taped on nov 11 - leaving 6 days for Rude to make it to Nitro. Rude fulfilled his obligations while waiting for the WCW paperwork (WWF thought they had him resigning and was on a handshake at the time while drawing up their own new contract)

      Somekind of cant compete clause

    • @JOBdOut
      @JOBdOut  2 месяца назад

      Thing is you can't be bound by a clause once the contract expires. No competes happen when one side pulls the plug early but if all terms are fulfilled by both sides nobody can legally hold the other accountable to anything
