Great pictures. I have hundreds and hundreds of hours over a 40 yr period of low level flying traveling back and forth between Fresno and Idaho, Mont. and Wyoming, and not a single picture to record all the fun we had. So watching your beautiful photography brings some of those flights back. Thank you.
@Fred Eichenberger. You’re very welcome.. I know how you feel. I did 8 years in the USAF and all I have is 2 crummy pictures. I thought those days would last forever. I’m trying to make up for it now. I picked up a Husky in January and have been too busy for videos. But just the other day my buddy and I started doing some video with our Husky’s landing in an amazing setting- we land in a pasture next to some amazing rock formations by a beautiful lake. Then I try my hand at waterskiing my Husky on the smooth lake. It was so much fun!
Great video! Love the formation.
Thanks Keir. That’s a good looking Vagabond you have!
Great flying. Awesome video.
Hey Don, thanks. Flying next to those guys was fun. I’m hoping to join up on a guy I know that has a big radial on a beautiful Pitts.
Yap, that’s proper flying at its best! Thanks for sharing! Give us a tour of your stunning Rocket some time, cheers! 🇨🇦
Hi Fuji Monk. Thanks for the kind comments. Let me work on that. There’s another F1 and a Harmon Rocket that I fly with. I’ll see if I can get all three together for a short tour and flyby!
@@WheelsInTheSky That sounds real good! 👍 Looking forward to it!
Love the camera, Wheels!
Hi Bull, thanks.. wish you lived closer. I miss the old days!
@@WheelsInTheSky me too, Brother.
Very nice. You freaked me out on the right-to-left cross under when your prop came into view and I thought for a moment it was another airplane. Yikes! :-)
Yeah, it’s a funny camera, but I like using it. It surprises me to sometimes when I’m editing.
man i want a F1 sooo bad, awesome aircraft
@Nick_NspireAviation_H. Hey Nick, that’s what I use to say. Then I found one. Keep looking! Thanks for watching.
Loving these
Hi Andy. Thanks!
That super fun is cool. The husky is a awesome little. I've got both of them in rd planes too. My husky has a 6foot wing. And my cub is a 55 inch wing. Both fun flying planes. 👍👍😎👊👊
Yeah, the Husky was nice, but I really enjoyed that Super Cub. Maybe it was the paint job on the Cub and the fact that I’ve seen the Husky a lot.
A 6’ wing on an RC! Must be amazing! Sounds like you must have a hanger for all your RC’s.
Great new perspective, beautiful aeroplane
Thanks Glenn. Hope it was clear enough. I thought I uploaded it in HD, but it says standard Definition. It's all an experiment!
The video and the camera is awesome! I love the RVs doing aerobatics. Very cool. I cant wait to see more videos.
Thanks. It was a cool camera. Used it twice then it broke. Sent it back for repair and bought a GoPro 360. can’t wait for the weather to clear.
Fantastic vids. Do you have any info on your selfie stick and attachment details? Thanks for great content.
Hi Mazda. I’m thinking of doing a video on it, although as an amateur, I’m sure others are more qualified. Mean while, if you give me an email, I can send pictures of my set up.
I live in Eden and love watching you guys fly!
Wow, how nice to hear from someone who lives out there. What a great place to be. Every time we go out there we always marvel at the scenery. Really glad you enjoy it. We try to stay high enough so we don’t disturb anyone because there could be others that don’t feel the way you do. So we always appreciate people that can enjoy airplanes flying.
Wheels I'm loving your videos. I learned how to fly out of 42U. I flew a citabria along side my buddy in a Super Decathlon all over those hills. Be sure to check out the red sandstone canyons that funnel into Lost Creek this time of year the scenery is epic!
That’s awesome. I love it back there. I was thinking I need to do a video of that area, with a low pass over the reservoir. can’t believe we have that kind of scenery right here
@@WheelsInTheSky Haha we are cut from the same cloth.... here is a video I did a couple years ago doing just that... ruclips.net/video/UMBetg71PfM/видео.html
Amazing!! Makes me want to go do it right now! Maybe next week when I get my wingtip camera back from the repair shop.
I’ll be out at Morgan in the morning for a formation flight though. Should be fun. Thanks for that video!
Nice. Thanks. Looking forward to next week. “You can only tie.”
Thanks Drum. I always appreciate the reminder.
What they all said before me. Uber cool.
Thanks sloleydave. I’m having a good time! Thanks for watching.
@@WheelsInTheSky Jealous...still locked down with no UK sport aviation yet. More of the same please - ace commentary and all👍
@@sloleydave Wow, I didn’t realize sport aviation was locked down also. I’ll get to work on another video as soon as the snow stops!
The stabilization turned out great. Brilliant!
Hey Mike. Thanks. Now I’m just trying to get everything to upload in HD. Working on it right now. Lot of late nights learning this stuff.
I’ve got the boom out 4 1/2’. It shakes a little, but remarkable stable. Stabilization takes care of the rest. I may try scooting it out to 5’.
@wheels I wonder if a carbon fiber boom would be stiffer and lighter. Either way, very entertaining. You had a blue bird for that formation flight.
Hi Mike, yeah, that might be a good idea, probably look better to. I think I’ll try to find one just to see. The boom I’m using is actually pretty stable till I hit bumps. But it’ll be fun to experiment!
RV grin all over my face.
Hi John, That RV6 will do that!
@@WheelsInTheSky I’m a flat lander in Chicago snd I’ll get low and buzz the cows some days. Would love to live out West where the terrain is amazing.
Fantastic video!
Thanks Ed. I’ve found a few other people with interesting planes that I’m hoping to video. I’m talking to a guy now about videoing his Auto Gyro!!
I tried some formation in my RV8 with a citabria. Sort of mushy at those speeds. I’m thinking about building a Bearhawk Patrol. Need a go fast and go slow plane.
How sis you mount the camera? Thanks for the post and video. They are great.
Hi Studio RV8. Yeah, it was pretty mushy at 75kts. Although a couple weeks before, I flew a formation approach at the same speed, so I got a little practice. Kinda fun.
To mount my camera, I cut a bunch of 1” strips of aluminum and made 10, 90 degree brackets. Then, my wing tip is attached with a bunch of #6 screws, so on the underside of my wing tip, I removed 10 of the screws and attached my 10 brackets using little longer #6 screws. So then I had 10 tabs/ brackets hanging down under my wing. Some have to be longer than others. Between the brackets and my paint I used a thin rubber washer to protect the paint. Then I got a 32” piece of 1” aluminum angle ( 1/16” thick) and attached it horizontally to the 10 tabs/ brackets hanging down from the underside of where my wing tip attaches to the wing. So I used 10 - #8 screws and nuts for that. I use this as my “rail” for attaching the camera boom, and leave it attached to the plane. For the boom I used a 7’ piece of 1/2” electrical conduit from Home Depot and clamped 2 1/2’ to the rail and then 4 1/2’ protrude out in front of my wing tip. I used 4 radiator hose type clamps with some rubber (so it wouldn’t slip) to attach the boom to the rail. To mount a camera on the end, I used a 1/4” X 20 bolt epoxied in the center of the conduit. For the camera, I used the Insta 360, even though I like the GoPro max better. I like the thinness, lightness and the way the Insta360 mounts on the end of the boom. But the company is a real pain and I returned the camera for repairs almost immediately and got a GoPro. I also made a small aluminum battery holder and attached it to the rail and ran a cable up to the camera. That’s another nice thing about the Insta, you can remove the battery door and attach a cable to keep it fully charged inflight. If you open the charging door on the GoPro, the cameras battery will fall out. Can’t believe I’m promoting the Insta!! Let me know if you want me to email a picture. Maybe sometime I’ll do a short video
@@WheelsInTheSky Yeah, would love some pics. My wingtips are held on the same way, so your photos would be helpful. RV8AV8R at gmail.com will work. Thanks!
I sent them today.
