    David Tennant, this lovely Doctor, is actually Scottish.

    • @lavenderbloodstains
      @lavenderbloodstains Год назад +10

      he was asked to speak in an English accent as the 10th doctor for various reasons, among them being that the 9th doctor already had a northern accent and the showrunner didn't want to go for another regional accent, and because they wanted the 10th doctor's accent to sound more like rose's accent. but he's actually Scottish! so when he speaks in an accent at the start of this episode, that's actually his natural accent :)

    David Tennant has something 'je ne sais qua' about him that makes you love his Doctor so much.

    Yes, he does talk fast! As RTD had just done Casanova with DT, RTD was familiar with DT's strengths as an actor, one of which was to deliver reams of complex dialogue at a rapid pace, so he made that part of this Doctor's personality.

    The name he used. James McCrimmon. That was the name of his second Incarnations longest serving companion. The township of Balamory that he mentioned. That was a kids' educational programme, which is exactly what was intended for this show when it was concieved. It was to teach history and science, balamory however was aimed at five and under I think so it wasn't as complex.

      Jamie is also, still to this day, the longest running companion (by main series episode count) having been in 116 episodes.

      @@TravisViews The story goes that when the first season started production, the production was labeled "Torchwood" to help prevent footage from leaking. Davies then took an unused show concept, retooled it to fit into Doctor Who and made it the show's first official spin-off: Torchwood.

    Pauline Collins, who played Queen Victoria, was also in a 2nd Doctor story, called The Faceless Ones (back in 1966!) The producers wanted to sign her as a new companion, but she refused, interested in only being a guest star for that particular story!

    Coincidentally, I just saw something on tv last night about the Koh-i-noor diamond. The curse seemed to be aimed at male rulers. And King or male ruler who touched it would suffer a horrible death.
    Queen Victoria, it was claimed, once replied "We are not amused" (Using the royal "we") in response to a racy joke that was told in her presence. Although it has often been quoted since then and attributed to her, there is no evidence that she ever actually said it.
