Blue Bands on tree are to cut. Dead or dying. Orange is to save. I know because I was a professional timber faller for many yrs! But another great video by the chiggster! That hike probably taken most of the day for sure.
Robert Klauka and you know this because........??????? Oh you don't because you've never seen a logger or seen what good logging practices are! Don't make a comment unless you know what the heck your talking about!!!
David Dube' well here in cali they mark the culls with white. But if it was a boundary line it would have trees blazed. Is what we called it. Um the forester would blaze the trees with bright orange paint and have big patches sorta stripped on the trees. Plus before a timber sale it would all be flagged off. And skid trails, possible new logging roads, wlpz zone which are wildlife protection zones, and boundary lines. I didn't see any flagging in chiggs video but there could've been flagging which would indicate a new or future timber sale. Like I said before I never believe in complete strip cutting. Unless it's a fire or bark Beatles have killed all the timber. And then why not cut it down and make some kind of profit and benefit schools and local cities. Then plant loads of saplings in that area and restore it. But it's never goes that way! It ends up in courts which ties up the timber sales for yrs and it rots away! What a shame! Plus the wildlife is dislocated from those areas. Which is a real shame!
I think that was an old ranch property marker. I've seen a few that look like that down in the desert, near Phoenix. What looked like letters on there were probably cattle ranch brands.
I'm so grateful you turned around! I've learned my lessons the hard way about over extending my limits... BY MYSELF!! Anyhoo, when I worked for the Forest Service, blue rings around a tree denote trees to be harvested.. orange for Silva culture purposes, like marking a genetically superior tree for future seed harvesting.
I'm enjoying these "adventure" videos just as much as your treasure hunting videos. I can say that I have learned a lot more on Native American history during these uploads. Thanks for all the info and the great content as always.
Looks like Oregon, where i live. In fact, it looks like my backyard without the river. I don't or didn't think you were a "wimp" for not challenging the "cliff", I think you were smart to keep yourself out of danger. Awesome video. Thank you for sharing the beauty.
Wow, that really brought back memories. I was raised in Arizona and the Mogollon Rim area was always the favorite place to go camping in the summer because it was nice and cool, sometimes cold, at night. Woods Canon Lake used to be some of the best trout fishing in the State. Thanks for the video.
Aloha Chigg! Ever heard of the Mogollon Monster?? That place supposed to have plenty Bigfoot sightings....and as you were going down the trail, I swear I saw "Tree Structures"....Also good you did not go in that cave, lol!!
Some of your hikes give me the willies and I am glad you made it back to your truck safe. Standing on the edge of cliffs is about as safe as standing in the middle of a busy freeway. Please be safe Chigg. Live long and prosper! As to those marked pine tree's, it may be that they have pine boring beetle and the park service is removing them to keep an infestation in check. If let go the nasty beetle can really ravage a forest in a short time.
Dear Aquachigger, I have been watching your vlogs for awhile. My favorites are of the last ones you have done I grew up in Southwestern CO, hiking and hunting arrowheads and spending a lot of time exploring. I am so jealous I would love to get out away from civ, but I don't have the chance or the money anymore, but I am going to try to one of these days. Your videos are great keep up the great work, Thanks
man I'm heading up to the White Mountains in Arizona in 3 days to camp, the environment looks exactly like the place we go caming at, and we always drive through the Salt river Canyon! I Love it, Keep up the great videos, I really like watching all of them. Have fun!
I'd love to see how you camp inside the truck. Do you have all the comforts of home or are you just shivering under an old blue tarp held tight with a couple bungee cords?
"whats under the concrete, oolllD COINS!" ... "maybe someones remains, or...GOLD COINSSS! .. ok lets get out of here." You crack me up the way you obsess and level yourself, good stuff as always man. Also I love the trip's timeline jumps, you are a subtle master.
A lot of people think that AZ is just deserts. Northern AZ is mostly forest. We got a lot of snow this year. The highest mountain is 12, 635 ft, and some forest towns are only 90 miles out of Phoenix.
Joe rogan is looking to have a metal detector expert on his podcast. There is no one better than Aquachigger. Let's all comment on joe's videos and recommend aquachigger.
The orange markings means they are going to be removed for lumber, So the orange X means they are to be cut and sent as a certain size to a certain place, and the ones with orange rings are to be shipped differently, maybe to the same place, but cost like twice as much per foot.. And the blue rings usually means that's a hiking or main trail.. But some states use the markings different from others..
Maybe someone fell off that cliff before, and that's how their family/friends marked it.. Kinda like the crosses on the sides of the roads, but since they know they can't go there every day to keep it up, they just did it in concrete so it would last forever..
fossil creek area is pretty neat. the ruins to the old resort etc... cool crystals etc.. used to be anyway. you were around show low probably. miss az to some degree.
Very good Sasquatch researcher use to do most his research there on the old Mongolian and he had some very amazing videos. Unfortunately we lost him a few years ago. His name was Mitchell Waite
Those Pine Trees could have Pine Beetle damage and are dying. that's why they might be marked for removal. That area looks like "the Breaks" on the Kentucky/Virginia line. You should check that out sometime - there are lot of Kayaker and tubers there also. You might find MOAR river Treasure!
Hi Beau, love your vids, I have a strange attraction to you ... ( not sexual ) lol. I think it's because you are kind, down to earth, wise, adventurous, educational, you are an all round great guy !! One of my fav u tubers. Keep it up , you make my day. I live in Scotland btw. 🙃
Arizona is beautiful, you missed out. I could have took you to an old ghost town with a cemetery and artifacts laying around. Even the odd arrowhead. Maybe next time!
Great place to camp! It's now under red flag warnings with fire restrictions..Fire season is underway here in Arizona..just got in from a fire on the Tonto NF. Lots of bears in the Apache Sit Greaves also...Apache country...love it there
Hey Beau. It's been 3 days since your last video. I know you don't post every day but since you're traveling alone to some remote places, I just thought I would check in and make sure everything is ok. Stay safe!
Timber cruisers just mark all trees that are merchantable timber. Which means they could be cut for lumber or chipped. Then the land owner brings in a forester usually and he'll mark the ones that are dead and dying. It's called salvage logging. If he's on USFS land (fed. Gov.) then all of the trees that are marked blue are to be cut. Forest service hasn't had hardly any green tree logging done in many many yrs. and if it's private land then the landowner may hire a forester to come in and mark the trees that will be able to be salvaged before the rot on the stump. But some land owners may take out certain green trees and leave what are called seed trees. If that makes any sense at all. Haha sometimes I ramble on cuz it was my passion to learn and know about all aspects of the logging agriculture! Most timber co.s now plant 4-6 trees if they take one out. It's a great practice and such be used more. For instance we had a very bad forest fire in some really pretty protected ground and forest service accepted a bid from a top notch logging and environmentalist block this sale in court for quite a few yrs. so long that the timber rotted away (blued and checked on pine logs) that the logging darn near went out of business and when he tried to renegotiate his contract forest service made him salvage log it anyways. He lost thousands and thousands of dollars because of it and so did the local schools who receive road tax from every log truck that comes into a lumbermill. Kraziness! Could've been salvage for merchantable timber for lumber plywood pencils etc plus all the road tax to local schools. No they sit on it in courts for yrs. makes no sense at all. That place once looked like Yosemite park now looks like the moon! Horrible!!!
If timber is not marked one way or the other the logger may take it upon himself to have the cutters take the tree. So the state I live in they mark almost all timber sales this way!!!
Yes it can.. I was born and raised here in Florida, and there are some wicked woods and swamps, full of huge gators, bears, giant pythons, and a lot of other deadly snakes and wild animals.. It's like a giant zoo.. lol..
I have also lived in Louisiana, Livingston parish area where the Amite river crosses highway 22 near Lake Mirapah. Caught gator, gar, snake, catfish, crab, shu-pic, turtles, more than I can mention. but it was meeting the people, all the diffrent cultures of folks that made my stay.
Blue Bands on tree are to cut. Dead or dying. Orange is to save. I know because I was a professional timber faller for many yrs! But another great video by the chiggster! That hike probably taken most of the day for sure.
May be a silly question but why mark the trees orange at all then? Just mark the blue ones and leave the others unmarked.
Because loggers will cut ANTHING!
Robert Klauka and you know this because........??????? Oh you don't because you've never seen a logger or seen what good logging practices are! Don't make a comment unless you know what the heck your talking about!!!
The trees marked with orange, could that possibly be a boundary or roadtrack? Here in Oregon, Blue would be a cull.
David Dube' well here in cali they mark the culls with white. But if it was a boundary line it would have trees blazed. Is what we called it. Um the forester would blaze the trees with bright orange paint and have big patches sorta stripped on the trees. Plus before a timber sale it would all be flagged off. Show us your truck camping set up, please!
Are you at Valentine ridge? or anywhere on young road?
Now you are in my country.
I've been told that there's one bear (black bear) per square mile in and around that area. I've been up there many times and never seen one
I think the water at the bottom is fossil creek
hey chigg!
You were not too far from Pine Arizona for my families have a cabin for 40 years
nice, my area
Must be nice.. I live in flat land Florida, but would love to have a house right there where he looked over that cliff.. lol..
Florida can be an adventure too!
Yes it can.. I was born and raised here in Florida, and there are some wicked woods and swamps, full of huge gators, bears, giant pythons, and a lot of other deadly snakes and wild animals.. It's like a giant zoo.. lol..
And besides birds, I have caught every kind of snake and animals there are in Florida, with just my bare hands..
That might be a survey marker
