The rat wheel has been disassembled. Imagine a society where most of us live like this. The one thing I noticed about every single person living in a tiny house, is how genuinely happy they sounded.
It is possible to live like this but we're just not educated about it unfortunately

Adriaan Bester not necessarily, no. It's a way to live for sure, but it's hard to say "you're meant to live xy way". You could use the same argument to say humans are intended to make their life's as easy and safe as possible

There’s some solid science behind that too. Haven’t a consistent bedtime/morning time has been shown to be very beneficial for the quality of sleep you get.

@Elaine Simons. I've been to that area there's Walmart it always has wifi you can sit in the parking lot & use it there's also wifi cafes if you go into the city & buy a cup of coffee or tea

They have a RUclips channel "Off Grid with Doug and Stacy" they use a generator for some power needs.
@@urszulawojcik4347 their taxes are very low, about $400/yr. They can easily sell some livestock to pay that off. That's what we do on our farm (Texas). Property taxes are usually much lower out of city limits, of course depending on property size, home size, and any exemptions like agricultural or homestead.

I lived off the grid as a kid with my parents, we had a chemical toilet brought in our water had gas lighting and a wood stove. I loved it and I can't wait for the time when I'll be able to return to that life again. It's funny how it is now called being off the grid... when I was young it was called being dirt poor, LoL.
But you didn't feel poor as a kid, did you? That sounds like a very cool life growing up. It gives you a perspective a lot of us don't have.

I have seen "many" tiny homes, but this one is something that actually caught my eye if I were to go tiny! I love the different structures...garden, beehives, chickens, etc...natures! Love it!

College students nowadays struggle with an 8th grade exam from 100 years ago. For whatever reason, many think we're better than those who came before us.
Personally, I think he flunked history in school. MANY people who went westward could read and write. They were journalists, teachers, writers and artists, not the illiterate masses he refers to several times. He and the wife walk the walk, but I think they both still have a lot to learn. So far, he appears to have contracted out EVERYthing, including the furniture. but he goes around giving lectures on his lifestyle?

I watch Doug and Stacy all the time. I wish I could live like that. I have a house in town and I have been prepping. I make my own soap and cleaning supplies, I bought a Sun Oven and use it some. I have got stockes up on food. The freeze dried food. Now if I could get rid of my electric bill or reduce it some I would be good. I am debt free. I was 76 years old when I retired last year. I saved up enough money to keep me going. Hope everone has a good week.

This is a wake up call for the world to slow down and reconnect with the earth and our environment. I love the perma culture life and hope to build a tiny home when I retire!!!
We have been living this way for 18 years! I have raised and still raising children this way. It has always been how I wanted to live and to be able to take care of ourselves

It amazes me how many of my friends with high degrees fail to see you can be happy, wealthy, and wise with this way of living. It’s my dream. What in the world is there in life to truly keep you up after sun down if you live a well worked day? The plant is literally telling you what to do.

I'm from Northeast India and I hate living in the midst of concrete jungle.
Fortunately I have land in my native village, and I'm fully preparing to become a farmer soon. Don't care what people may say, gotta fight for my own freedom.
Of course, it helps that they started off very, very well off. So any problems or issues they had/will have can be covered by what I can only assume is at least a decent investment. As they get more experienced and settled in, their labor hours and overall cost is only going to go down more.

This sweet couple have one of the best homesteading channels. They are modest but they are both great teachers and share so much knowledge! She is such a skilled cook, so healthy and knows a great deal about food preservation and herbs. He can do anything! Glad to see this interview!!

Wow, first I have to say Doug & Stacy are an amazing couple. They have dedicated themselves to a way of life and they are sticking to it ! Their home is lovely.....I can't think of a nicer home to spend time in. Their farm is amazing as well. I like how they put the different outbuildings and areas close to their home, because they are looking to the future when it will be harder for them to get around. I believe, Doug & Stacy have a lot to teach us about how to move into the future. As for me, I think I would have to have some solar panels so that I would be able to stay up to date with family & friends, On the news, a way of calling out for help if need be. As always, another wonderful video ! I thank you for all the work you put into your videos. I hope you get a million subscribers soon ! They are the genuine articles. They seem down to earth and thoughtful as demonstrated by their home, outbuildings,animals and gardens. While I've chosen a different life style, I appreciate their decision to live as they do since they seem very happy. Completely independent and debt free! Nice goin!

What I noticed about people living simply is that they have genuine auras and they look healthier and have this certain glow as if they are stress-free. They are living their best lives!

Such a beautiful homestead. I would love to live in mother nature an out of the rat race. I know it's not easy jumping backwards like that but if your ever lucky enough to figure it out like this couple has then your truelly blessed like they are.

Yes! This was a real plus. When someone has only lived in a tiny home for a few months, everything is all tidy, but not all is worked out. Seven years is pretty much fully worked out!

This is like confirmation for a couple of things, I have been thinking and planning (with saving money and cutting my budget a lot to save), to look for land, maybe not (10) acres , I was thinking more of (2 - 3). Thank you for sharing this, it is an encouragement. The very best to Doug and Stacy, I grew up in the country in MD with a wood stove, and even all these years later I miss the smell and the special warmth that only a wood stove can give. I pray for safety in your travels, over your home and animals, and continued good health. You are an encouragement.

Absolutely beautiful, my idea of paradise. That is the kind of life I have always dreamed of having, simple, healthy, stress free. Self sustaining and minimal impact on the environment. I would probably have some solar power though so I could have fans and air conditioner, and gravity fed water can be a bit tricky with no pressure so a pump would be good. I love the wood stove, they are wonderful for baking but not real practical in the summer. I guess it’s easy to cook outdoors in the warmer months and fresh salad is delicious when you pick the vegetables and then wash it and eat it straight from the garden.
And we use a All American Sun Oven mostly in summer and the propane in the outdoor kitchen we have videos covering this stuff.. thanks for checking out our place and see you around. 👍

This is exactly my goal. Everything we need to survive, God gave it to us for free! Water, air, sunlight, even food is cheaper to grow (and healthier if you have Non-GMO seeds). I have the land....just looking for a design to fit my personality and needs.

Depends where it is. Since they have no public utilities at all and if they are in an unincorporated area, it's possible they don't.

I can relate to Doug and Stacy so well in that I grew up near the Amish in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and the similarities are amazing. The lifestyle is not for everyone but there is no denying it is exactly what these two soul mates needed. They've actually achieved their very own nirvana. They are so happy, and that is the pourpose in life.. Very organic food, water from the sky, your animals, veggies.. Etc.. So romantic in the nights, with no electricity, with those candles, and the moon,stars, imagine how great it looks in the night..!!! You guys put a smile in my face and peace in my heart.. Watched alot of tiny house videos and by far this is one of my favourite. Everything is so natural. Remind me of the era i wish i was born in. I am a melenial. If lumber was as cheap in my country 🇯🇲 jamaica. Id definately do this

in Russia we call it "Dacha", about 2/3 of us have a house like this one as a second\vacation home. Retired people may spend up to 5 months a year living like that.
