Jumper & Push will always occupy the same space in my mind. Just like Friends With Benefits and No Strings Attached. And The Prestige and The Illusionist.
I watched The Illusionist. And don't remember any of it, at all. And the funny part about that is that the former member of NSYNC was NOT in No Strings Attached. 😂
The book is 100,000,000,000% better. Jumping is an allegory for David Rice running away from all of his hard things in his life. His abuse father, his abandonment issued with his mothers, trauma from being sexually assaulted, (yes that happens in the book) and his character arch was coming to terms the fact that he cant jump away from his life. Non of that is properly conveyed in the movie.
@@isabellasilmi-esteves7779 Yes! read it. It is so good. Also I failed to mention that the central love story is way better in the book and the character Millie is way more developed, especially in the second book. (its a trilogy)
I absolutely love the energy of this episode. Just. The glee and excitement coming out of friends vibing while explaining a batshit crazy movie. Exactly what I'm hoping for from a podcast about guilty pleasure movies.
This is one of those movies where they vaguely took the premise of a book, then completely made up 90% of the rest so it in no way looks like the book. There were no paladins, though there were sketchy men in black type operatives, but he spends a good chunk of the book fighting terrorists to avenge his mother's murder, and you may note that simply doesn't happen in the movie lol
Oooo I def want more episodes like this. Hearing what could have been. I remember watching this and hating the ending. Also loving everyone getting into this was so so so fun!
My moms cousin wrote the book! Steve! I LOVED it my entire life so when the movie came out our whole family was HYPE but then I walked out. I was SO MAD at the absolute butchering of the book I couldn't bear it. He wrote other books to try to help but the RUclips Red show based off the idea was so much better. I still want the movie redone to actually reflect the book. The only similarities are that he can jump and the river jump to the library.
cannot lie i LOVE the scene where hayden christianson looks at rachel bilson and the fray starts playing...this movie started my love affair with the fray in the 2000s/early 2010s lmao

Speaking of films where the persecuted characters have mutated abilities or are somewhat superhuman, like "Captain America" & "Jumper"+, may I direct you (and possibly guilty pleasure review/react) to what I feel was a marginally the superior film to "Jumper" that was released around the same time ("Jumper" came out in 2008, the film I'm referring to was a year later in 2009, with "Captain America" releasing 2 years later in 2011). The more talented the Pusher, the more people they can control at once. It’s considered the most dangerous of all abilities. 2) SHIFTERS: Can affect the physical appearance of an object temporarily, thanks to light manipulation. The more advanced the Mover, the more microscopic the level they can work at, creating fields in the air around them for protection. 6) SHADOWS : Can work their powers on their fellow psychics, shielding objects and people from their sight and senses. Shadows mainly work in opposition to Sniffs. 7) SNIFFS : Can track people and objects with their powers. The thing with rotten tomatoes is the 85% of reviews that are rotten could be 2 1/2 stars out of five. The whole RT system doesn’t really work. A movie with 100% could all be three star reviews which is just an okay movie.
The book is far better… the movie is great in a way but also so bad. The book is dark but awesome with much better character arcs and more. To sum up the differences I stole part of what I found online mainly because though I’ve got the books it’s been a while since I’ve read them… “Put it this way. He abandons his alcoholic father, drops out of high school, and moves to New York City, where he books himself into a shitty flophouse, uses his power to teleport into a bank vault, and teleports back out with a whole lot of money. Given that, it really isn't necessary to address every plot point from both versions in order to discuss the vast differences between them, so this column will be less spoilery than past editions of Book Vs. Instead, I mostly want to talk about the differences between the two versions' tones and goals. Turning a quiet, methodical coming-of-age story into a brainless action-adventure film is kind of missing the point, but it's also kind of typical of what happens when Hollywood gets its hands on a good story. Far more disturbing to me is the way Jumper the movie turns a morality tale into an anti-morality tale, and transforms a kid's search for himself into a sociopath's wet-dream justification for any crazy, murderous thing he wants to do.”
Why is Kelsey calling us names. I understand she's trying to be enderearing but it's not cute... if Miles can't do it she shouldn't be able to. I really feel like she's a little too aggressive for me.

Oh my god I’d love to know what Ro’s guilty pleasure is!
Now that you’ve done Jumper you have to do Push with Chris Evans now!

Fun fact it’s actually in everyone of Samuel L Jackson‘s contracts that he gets to pick the wig or hair style since pulp fiction.
I’m gonna need them to do Push starring Chris Evans.

A tragically underatted movie!!
