  • The last episode of the series ventures into the desert that the Egyptians of the Nile have never really managed to control. To this day it remains a place of danger and rebellion.
Three centuries after the first discoveries, Egypt still reveals new buried treasures, and its inexhaustible myths continue to exist.
In this modern context, what has become of the river, the source of the Egyptians' livelihood for thousands of years? What does death mean today? What strength does eternity still have in the minds of its inhabitants? And what can be found in the arid desert?
Combining geography, civilization and archaeology, this series unveils the most spectacular places in Egypt, and takes us to meet those who continue to maintain the legends. A dreamlike journey through four powerful and mysterious symbols around which the identity of Egyptian civilization was built: Death, Eternity, the Desert and the Nile.

That is correct. These whale bones and such, I believe weren't swimming there as he states. They were displaced to that area. Meaning....something hit the Atlantic and literally washed all those sea craetures up and onto Mauritania along with all the sediment. That's what the aerial view speaks to me as..but I'm no geologist or anything 😅

There is no context to place living whales here. Erosional events discovered its final resting place; we have no attempt made to circumstantially account for this location, just the tired repetitions of whole-cloth fables and "deep time". We are more confident a whale was buried here than lived here; expired forms of sea life are routinely transported beachward (and beyond) by swelling waters.
