i know avoiding racist comics completely would be impossible, but maybe avoid comics where the entire premise is just racist. the idea that everyone who isnt a part of western society is primitive and superstitious and really just moronic is sooo fucking tired.
Jean Grey, still waiting in another adjacent alley by the theater: "Well...I'll give Logan another 20 minutes. But that's it."
She’s out there still waiting for him to finish those chores she asked him to do
Logan going for his lighter is like a Dad going out to get milk.
Speaking from experience?
Logan running around and having secret babies all over the world is totally in character.
Dang it’s 2024 and Sal is making Hawk Tuan references. And they say Comic Pop isn’t topical lmao
WHO SAYS
@@comicpop it doesn’t matter they don’t say it anymore!
Damn I'm surprised the Predator didn’t show up at this point during Wolverine's life
He did, but he fell in Apocalypse's other hole.
Sal saying Hawk Tuah is CRAZYYYY 😂😂😂😂
How dare you Sal as I clutch my pearls lol
@@cjhall4406 Sal: HAWK TUAH!!! 🙌😄-😐-😔-🤦♂️🤦♂️
What's more godly than coming down from the heavens, knocking someone up and then leave forever? Zeus would be proud
The part wherein Sal acts out Apocalypse just watching Wolverine get out of the binding had me laughing out loud. The entire concept of all that happening and then cutting back to A still being in the room was already gold, though.
Fun fact: this is one of Hickman's favorite apocalypse stories (as told in the CEREBRO podcast)
On my fourth rewatch to reinforce the number of wolverine stories read on the couch in any way possible
I just wanted to say that even years after I found you guys, this is still my favorite show on RUclips.
This is the hawk tuah episode lmao
ever since I found this channel, every wednesday is joyful. thank you guys for another fun episode!
Horses really are infamously hard to draw, indeed. When reading historical Manga, I admire their ability to make the glorious creatures appear less monstrous or freaky looking than Miura-sensei's famous example.
It's always a joy seeing any horses in webtoons, because there's going to be at least one comment thread sharing monster horses.
There's yet to be one which didn't give me at least one new nightmare.
This is one of the many reasons that Steel Ball Run is such a phenomenal Manga.
Look! A Berserk fan in the wild....dont make any sudden movements or else youll spook it
My dream comicpop episodes is age of apocalypse, thundercats and the energyon universe.
When the new avengers just randomly stumble onto wolverine in the savage land. Could have just been his weekend.
Great episode, thanks guys.
I'm watching this later, but I really wanted to appreciate you doing this for so long, consistently every Wednesday.
It's one of the few constants in my recreational life.
And if you Sal or Tiffany read this, please do some funky stuff like Harbor Patrol again.
Ah, yes. The Savage baby mama story! I love Wolvey's numerous kids😅
it makes so much sense for him to have so many kids too since hes been alive for so long
@@bZmanHe's like the antihero Vandal Savage.
Wolverine Exit Wounds reveals that he is also a grandpa lol.
The jungle adventure sounds like wolverine should be dressed as Indiana Jones looking for gold in a lost temple lol
Real Comic Poppers know that "Hawk Tua" is just the original Thanagarian word for "flapjob"
Thats some good channel lore
Funnily enough, Colossus ALSO has a secret Savage Land baby he conceived through a weird ritual threeway.
Need an issue where they bond over this
This channel is so incredible. It deserves so many more views and subs.
Apocalypse making fun of Wolverine for falling through the trap door was amazing!
The name of this sounds like Logan's about to go on a Jungle theme park ride.
The fact that no one on the couch hit the "What are you gonna do with that Savage Land baby" line is stunning
5:36 I ain’t even gonna lie. You guys put me on The Maxx and now im obsessed with him to the point where if I make it as a comic book writer I’m gonna pitch the most emotional sequel to Sam Kieth
*Welcome to the Jungle intensifies*
This is one of those rare occasions where i have no patients, im on break, and i also have the book in work bag 😂
If you Comic Pop long enough, they will get to your book.
Really wish there was an epilogue to this story that had Gahck finding a price of paper in her cave, and inside is a beautifully heartfelt letter from Wolverine telling her how she will always be with him, his flame for her will burn hotter than the sun etc etc. of course it has to be written with Wolverine’s trademark immaculate penmanship.
Final panel has Gahck face the reader, a single tear coming down one eye. She says “really wish I knew how to read”
Fin
There was a comment Sal made in one of his videos: "Like what you like". I appreciate that Sal, especially as someone who is in the minority of at least enjoying Zeb Wells' run of Amazing Spider-Man. I know he doesn't like, but again I appreciate his positivity with fans. Thank you Sal, I will continue to enjoy the book despite the negativity.
*Lookin' like they came back from a desert adventure movie, with Ethan giving main character vibes* 😆
Also 24:27
I bought my copy 2 years ago at a half priced bookstore and said out loud in the presence of others "here's one they won't ever do on back issues."
Clearly I stand corrected.
Well played, Sal, well played.
This reminds me, remember that half asgardian half mutant daughter Wolverine had like a year or two ago that just kinda vanished?
My girlfriend and I love this story, mainly for the Wolverine and Gahck parts. Oddly relatable dynamic
You keep what you kill!!!!
It’s the necromonger way
The Jungle Adventure proves that Wolverine is more interesting when he's not doing superhero stuff.
Guys, this episode was hilarious. I caught myself laughing a lot. I really needed that today, thank you.
1:01:56 "What's he gonna do with that baby?"
Nothing. Forget about it. What happens in Savage land stays in Savage land
I was obsessed with that mingola art as a kid. I wish he had done a full run back then:(
The one place I thought I could escape that wretched meme. Damn you Sal
Not even three minutes in and Ethan already comes out swinging, clearly done with the very concept of the savage land lol
Logan out here popping claws all over the globe.
Mignola just hits different
I really feel like I'm IN the studio on this one.
The adamantium skull in Robo-calypse's lair is similar to the alien skull in Predator 2. Both resulted in further storytelling connecting their respective characters. In Wolverine's case, Apocalypse was responsible for putting the adamantium back in him at the end of his 90s bone-claw era.
love this silly one off, never expected to see it on back issues though, glad ya all are doing it.
The innocence of Ben not knowing hawk tuah.
Gotg3: if you know its a trap, it's not a trap. It's a face off
I think Wolverine is supposed to be blowing a kiss to Gack at the end of the book, when he's leaving in the flying machine. His lips are slightly parted in Mignola's drawing, and that's probably the only way the gesture would seem natural from a character perspective.
This was my first Wolverine story. My mom got me this for my birthday.
24:27 is the most unexpected and hilarious thing I have seen in a while lol!!!
Side note: Regarding Wolverine’s weird hang gesture at the end (which, your rant on the theory is priceless comedy), I believe, it’s the end sequence of him blowing her a kiss goodbye. Not nearly as good as your theories, but I think that’s it. I’m a piece of sh#% lmao. Genius
I’m convinced that the gesture at the end is the tail end of a blown kiss. Not sure if that makes it worse.
I’m pretty sure the weird gesture Wolverine is making at the end is him blowing Gak a kiss, but Mignolia isn’t great at convaying those sorts of things lol
The Jungle adventure? How soon are we just gunna get Wolverine: Tarzan.
I remember reading this! And the best show on all the tube covering it? Tis a good day
The only law apocalypse respects is the need to say "thanks for dropping in"
I’ve read this a couple times, I actually like it very much, basically what if wolverine showed up in the lost world.
The return of my favorite comic pop host. The air conditioning. (Jk we love you Sal)
It looks like you filmed in 24fps and it’s being pushed to 30 or 60fps? Either way great episode!
👍
Wolverine as a frazetta painting protagonist, yeah that actually fits.
great episode
This is one of my favorite stories, thank you for covering it 🎉
A/V setup still needs some tweaking, background noise and a bit of fuzz to the video. I'm sure you'll work out the new setup soon. Great episode! I love these random standalone stories that I'd probably never run across.
It never occurred to me before, but this comic is the perfect book for the Comicpop team! You’ve got historically inaccurate paleo-art for Ethan to debunk, as well as copious amounts of innuendo for everyone to enjoy! 😂 thanks for the vid, guys
12 minutes in - Wolverine is trying to find his bic lighter by smelling it while flying in a bi-plane over the jungle.
"I need a stiff drink to go with this." Thanks for this guys! Truly insane!
Another amazing episode ❤❤
No way! Just bought and read this fairly recently!
I eagerly await Romulus' eventual appearance on this couch
I am pretty sure that's a clipper, not a bic and even though Sal had a ten minute rant about it being disposable, they are refillable, and even if the flint or scroller breaks they are designed as such that all of those parts are easily replaceable, so the barrel from Fury is the special part and if taken care of a clipper can last decades
should have made it a howling commandos metal lighter
Why do I feel like Hickman is gonna do something with this story. Considering the pages from Wolverines revenge had him in the savage land. This story I predict is gonna make a comeback
😂Yeah... After the Krakoa Era, I can believe Apocalypse would say "Thanks for dropping in unexpectedly!" With a big smile on his face. ("I am as far beyond Mutants..." Was an all-time great line.)
Was not expecting the hawk tuah I spit out my drink lmao
You should totally do Rogue Trooper. 💙
The talk about Wolverine's kid really makes me want to see Ben and Ethan's reaction to Wolverine Goes to Hell one day
I like to think you get one of those lighters in the shield gift basket like a couple scented candles some chocolate covered almonds a gift card for a back massage and a personalized shield lighter
Sal, I know that you've done the first arc almost a decade ago, but could you cover The Ultimates vol 1 and vol 2 in the near future? Both books are now over 20 years old and they're significant in the way they shaped the MCU. Also, they're some of Mark Millar's less hacky books.
Cool! I was afraid we were doing Ultimatum again. That comic made me think of giving up comics for good at the time.
If the entire episode was the guys complaining about the lighter i wouldn’t be upset
Hawk Tuah AND Honkers!
Best guess on the plan.. he expects his Cyborg Copy to either trap or maim Wolverine enough to cyborg him up. If he wins at the theatre, great! Backup plan, take the lighter and presume he’ll just be THAT petty.
Hawk tua and spit on that thang! Ya get me, Sal?
Can they be any more Goated with the sauce??? Didn’t think so
Colossus also has a baby in the Savage Land that no one ever mentions.
Initially I wasnt super interested but this honestly seems like a fun little run, aside from the Apocalypse stuff in the final third. Might wnd up picking it up, thanks Sal!
My head canon is that logan visits the island many time bringing food, water, tech and meds while also teaching them how to use the tech and meds, also he spends time with his kid and gak(they are on good terms and logan actually enjoys it there*
Part of me died inside when Sal referenced hawk tuwah and I dunno if I'll ever recover
Fun episode. Please do more episodes on Dark Hawk (Oh and World War Wendigo). Thank you!
Story idea - Wolverine and Power Pack: The Ice Cream Conundrum
they have plenty of herbivorous mammals in the savage land. even mammoths. giant camels and marsupial mammals big and small.
I can’t wait for you guys to cover Tom kings Batman run and see what you guys think of Alfred dying by Bruce’s father
@38:11 - It wouldn't be a Mike Mignola books without a large portion of a page showing our gruff protagonist falling into a dark pit without a one word exclamation. (This is also how the first Hellboy volume goes, and I believe is also in The Doom that Came to Gotham)
I'm surprised Arista (or however it's spelled) didn't show up in that one comic where some organization found all of Wolverine's bastard kids and sent them to kill him. Like...huge wasted opportunity
Ethan has hit his peak
Oh Sal you’re looking thin, here take a comment snack for the algorithm.
Is this baby the “Heir to apocalypse!?”
Get ready for Erista to show up in the next Wolverine series.
Isn’t Hickman’s mini starting with a Savage Land story?
Weirdly Logan is not the only one who has left a kid there. Think Colossus did it first time he was there.
I like to watch videos as soon as they come out, at 2x speed so I can be the first to finish it
