No, the barrel with explosives had very short fuse, Jacob knew it. He wanted to survive but he knew that of he don't blow himself up other will die, he sacrificed himself for other to escape the madness and destruction of Leipzig. Everytine i play on this map, players giving thanks to Jacob when he dies, truly great game.
earlier today me and my teammates managed to get through the town with the wagon, but nobody lit their torch so they could light the barrels. When the zombies began to pile up, I decided to go retrieve a torch and light it. I nearly got grabbed by a shambler 3 times during my jog towards the fire but somehow slid past the hands of the undead. After retrieving my torch, I ran back towards the wagon in hopes of making it. The second to last teammates had fallen trying to fight off the horde. Luckily, it was a good enough distraction for me so I could light the gunpowder wagon. Soon then the gate exploded and the entire server was revived. Soon people in the chat start to shout “WHAT?” All I know is, I saved the server and the mission that had to be accomplished. Later then 8 players were able to cross the bridge and escape. I had never felt so much pressure. Thank you for reading all that lol
this happened to me too. Instead , i had to run to the graves to revive them , but instead of running to fetch the fuse, i already had one. I died on the triggerpoint for the revive.
Something like this happened to me but in endless on La’ferme, it was me and this one seaman alive on round 21 and he dies like when there was a group left, just 2 sapper zombies and regular shamblers and I managed to live, we would not have made it past that round if it weren’t for the seamen. And then everyone died on round 23.

Today, I played a match of Leipzig in a random casual server, it wasn’t that amazing of a crew and I was the regiment ‘Infanterieregiment Nr.1’, at the start, me and a sapper (they were in ‘Landwehr Regiment von Schlesien’) were at the front of the group and we were doing pretty good together killing the hoard. We lost a few people at the burning barricade bit, and we lost a few while pushing the cart and one was exploded by the cart. Everybody else decided to setup at the gate while me, the same other sapper and a Russian officer in ‘Sankt-Peterburzhskaye Opolcheniye’. Not even after we had finished clearing up the straggling zombies the bell rung. I watched most of my comrades die in the finale. We managed to survive, but almost nobody shot the bombers, which meant we were down to 5 people by the time Jacob arrived (the officer and the sapper as well as 1 infantry (in the ‘13 Infanterie regiment’) and 1 chaplain (Swedish) ). We were quite slow and the bridge had almost exploded by the time we got to the river. I was on the beginning of the bridge and I figured we would have just enough time to get across. But then, when I looked back the sapper and officer were being eaten, I couldn’t save them and neither could the priest and line, the sapper was eaten and the officer getting mauled. I could’ve saved them… With the weight of greif on my shoulders I ran across the bridge. The line infantry and priest were so close, I had my hand out to get them to come across. The bridge exploded, shrapnel and debris flung everywhere and I was pushed back, the line infantry and chaplain were exploded, and I could see the bodies of the sapper and officer on the other side. The music is so motivating to the point where one time like half of three quarters of the way through, it was only me and two other dudes and we managed to hold off the horde and live. Jacob was a mad lad for coming in right before we died now it is a tradition of mine to respect Jacob
I had match where some guy started the horde and we also had only 1 sapper so we also didn't have many fortifications as well we were doing pretty much struggling from the start we managed to shoot down some bombers that were with the horde but we would soon be overwhelmed however when at the same time the music started to play and then Jacob appeared and blew up the gate while my team was getting mauled i made a run for it and never looked back i made it across the bridge and only i lived to tell the tale
With all the religious connections being theorized in the game's lore, perhaps Jacob is actually an angel in the guise of an ordinary foot soldier, I mean lugging a gunpowder barrel one-handed takes some brawn, and his "untimely death" is actually a planned-out ruse for his departure so that he might travel to other places where he is needed most and once again "blow himself up" for others sakes. After all, we don't see, post explosion, any corpse or even pieces of said corpse which would belong to Jacob

Just a few mins ago I was on Leipzig and when Jacob blew up the gate my hp was so low one Shambler could kill me and no one else was alive, one said “go my brother!” I ended up making it through the burning building and I was lucky the zombies at the bridge weren’t scattered so I managed to make it and be the only one to live
these guys actually used good strategy they didn't push themselves back into the cramped space they started pushing the zombies back these people are actually smart

h Leipzigs always been a very cool map. The final push syncs up with jacobs arrival and death, and afterwards, you get a one way trip OUT. Once they get through the burning building, They'll more than likely know that its either now or never. It'll explode and end their lives/leave them behind if they don't cross it. The music gives you a sense of urgency. A need to get out while you still can.
I'll tell you my story, it's happen during second Leipzig run:after we explode the gate,we still been chased by zombie from earlier but we managed to repel them, our sapper has build for 6 minutes and then we ready,bells ring as we ready our saber,musket,blunder,axe,and fife, after 2 or 3 minutes,jacob arrived and explode the gate but he died due the shorter fuse on barrel,one by one my men falls and I'm only one left,as run to bridge,i see on chat and they say"one left",I evade zombie until I pass the bridge and the bridge exploded, I'm the only one left to tell the tale,still this day I never forget that day, I'm still in grief as my friend died,im sorry to any men in Leipzig who didn't have time get out from the City
I remember the time in leipzig when its the end I was like infected (infection phase 3 or 4) and all of my teammates made it to the end but me.. I standed on the bridge for a sacrifice, cause I was infected and when the bridge exploded I died and got a badge
Kinda late but here is the new stuff i noticed about jacob: He is using a different regiment He has new animations (i think) i noticed it because he was looking behind And he just explodes without even igniting the barrel
Good ending : Jacob ran so fast he tripped and the barrel slipped out of his hands and rolled to the gates, but Jacob, as a true pro gamer, throws his torch and blows the gates without inflicting any damage to himself, so he comes back home safe and sound.

Kinda late but here is the new stuff i noticed about jacob:
He is using a different regiment
He has new animations (i think) i noticed it because he was looking behind
And he just explodes without even igniting the barrel
jacob purposefully left his fuse short so the bridge fuse was longer and gave us more time :(
Me: JACOB BLOW UP THE DAMN GATE!! WALK FASTER!!! WE ARE DYING IN HERE
Jacob: IM TRYING BUT ITS TOO HEVY!!!
also I wish these game have need real regiment toy irl I would buy these or I have wait for christmas

Good ending : Jacob ran so fast he tripped and the barrel slipped out of his hands and rolled to the gates, but Jacob, as a true pro gamer, throws his torch and blows the gates without inflicting any damage to himself, so he comes back home safe and sound.
