      @@jonmartin444 ~ In fact they did quite an excellent job maintaining the continuity of Human/Borg interactions over TNG, Voyager, and even Enterprise, as well as First Contact. People argue that Enterprise broke continuity when they had the Borg episode, but that's not true.
      If humanity's and the Borg's first ever encounter had been in TNG, then how did Seven of Nine's parents know the Borg existed, and travel out to try and find them when Seven was a child? (And _that_ doorway was opened when 'First Contact' brought time travel to Earth into the mix.)
      And like you pointed out, the Borg were obviously already aware of humans and romulans, since they were starting with outposts along the neutral zone. So the timeline all fits, even if sometimes details are missing in the earlier stuff, since they didn't have all the details fleshed out.

    • @thec4fourhundred520
      @thec4fourhundred520 4 года назад +1

      The Borg were already there. Season one's final episode, "The Neutral Zone." Romulan and Federation outposts were both attacked. Borg. The writer of the episode initially planned a multi-part episode arc to introduce the Borg, but the 1988 writers strike put a fork in that plan leaving a very poorly written and half-finished episode. In "Q Who?", when the Enterprise first meets the Borg, Data describes the planet's destruction as "identical to what happened to the outposts along the Neutral Zone". All that being said, Q, in a callous way, granted the Federation a sneak peek which allowed them to prepare better defenses for later confrontations. Q is correct here.

      Nope, you misunderstood Q's plan. The Borg were already expanding towards federation space. It was just a matter of time before first contact, which would've been well within federation space. Q made the federation aware they should not act all high and mighty. He gave them a good kick in the rear, putting us arrogant humans in our place and giving us a lot more time to prepare beforehand.
      Just observe how cocky they are with their fancy new "Galaxy class" starship initially. Heck even the name sounds arrogant, it's waaaaaay too slow to be considered galaxy class. And that's not even mentioning this very same "cutting edge technology" was completely and utterly outmatched by a basic Borg cube

      don't forget the Borg had already skirted federation and Romulan space once before. In the episode where they find the 3 humans in stasis and then have to manage an incident with the Romulans along the neutral zone they make reference to vanished colonies. "Once we saw the level of devastation we knew it couldn't have been you."- Romulan commander. in the episode where they meet the Borg this is referenced. Season 1 episode 26 "The Neutral Zone" - Season 2 episode 16 "Q Who"
      The Federation was not aware of what was eventually going to land on their doorstep.

      @@minionsoldier Thank god someone else remembers, I had replied to like 5 people already point out the same thing, I could put it down to many later viewers skipped season 1 (I can understand why) but they still reference it on the first borg ep, at one point they note that the readings from the cube are similar to the strange readings that were found at the lost colonies near the neutral zone. For this reason many people have the first bad impression of Q when in reality as much of a troll that he is, he was trying to be nice (in his way).

    I'm annoyed that the apple story is wrong here, and many think that it led to Newton's work on gravity.
    It led to his work on orbits,
    When the apple fell, it didn't hit him on the head, but he watched as the wind carried it away from the tree to a spot a few feet away from where it would have landed.
    From this, Newton began to wonder how fast something would need to be going in order to seem as though there was no effect of gravity on the object,
