One of the most amazing videos I have watched recently: normally when RUclipsrs arrive in Iraq they are surrounded by bodyguards with guns. You guys just turn up at Baghdad Central, buy tickets and hop on train to Basra. After an hour of no action though we decided to try our hand at hitchhiking to Basrah. Found it easy and hitched everywhere from then on. We found the Iraqis to be the most generous and friendly people on our travels. What a nice train and sleeper compartment! I recently took the Amtrak auto train from Florida to DC and loved it, but our roomette wasn’t nearly as nice or spacious as this! Not a knock on Amtrak at all, just genuinely impressed by this train.
Iraq has cleaner and fresher trains after such a long war than we have in my country. Our trains are old and trains stations are a wreck. Good to see Iraq is getting back to normal, as normal as it can be
