I have no idea why there are so few views of this song!! It's a famous Hendrix song, so great that Stevie Ray Vaughn, who worshipped Jimi, covered it. It's a great song that shows a different side of Jimi. And don't forget that he also wrote the vast majority of own songs, sang them & of course played guitar. Keep going with Jimi, 'Purple Haze', 'All Along the Watchtower', 'Are You Experienced' etc. Great reaction, guys!
@@R-EActsTV Ah, ok! Glad it's getting more views now, as normal with Hendrix videos. Just a few years ago there were almost no Jimi videos on YT, his estate wouldn't allow it. They now have their own channel & allow people to react to his music, which is great because it keeps his legacy alive & lets young people like you guys experience his amazing work. ☺
Oh, and I know a lot of people will recommend his live performances, which are amazing of course, but it's a lot of jamming & not much singing, so you don't really experience the song as 'the song', with its structure & his vocals. Doing the studio version of the song first will set you up well to watch him do it live.
Another 70 year old here. Except I had the special pleasure of seeing Jimi 4x in the space of a year and a half here in the NYC area. What you don't see from these recordings is JImi's humor, his playfulness, his silliness, his sexiness, and how outrageous his performances were. If you can, watch the full live version of Jimi doing "Wild Thing" from the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival, and you'll get a sense of how truly shocking he could be when he wanted to. Then watch how serious he could be (if you can) in his performance of "Machine Gun" from his live 1970 performance at the Fillmore East (a show I attended). Rest in music Jimi.
This man was a gentle soul, without malice or spite and wished well upon everyone he met. He was beautiful in every way a person can be. His gift was his music and through it, he will never die.
Hey fellas. Jimi was the goat, no doubt. He wasn't just a great guitarist he was fearlessly creative and unique. Keep listening to Jimi, especially his studio work where he put all his creativity to use. Peace.
Love it guys, 'Jimi ' was a one off, the first and last of the 'Space age Bluesmen ' Check his posthumous Lp 'Rainbow Bridge ', shows you where he was heading! And Oh yeah I want some of what your smoking lad , Greetings from England!!...
If I only had one song to listen to for eternity it would be this one. The soulful singing, unreal chords, and lyrics don't waste a second. Musical genius married with passion. I can't imagine what he would have gone on to do if not for the tragically cut short life he lived. Fly on, Little Wing. That you guys felt this song so deeply says much. Inspired me to subscribe. Thank you.
After seeing the listener's disappointment at the song ending so soon, I think it's a good point to be made that SRV's version also validates Jimi's decision to fade out his recorded version almost abruptly. SRV just kind of let the improvised soloing drop too much into a lull that diminishes the soar-off-into-the-clouds feeling that Jimi's version inspires. Maybe Jimi just didn't have anything more to say about "Little Wing" that was worth repeating. And on the "Axis Bold as Love" album, with "Little Wing" being followed by the stark reality of the first 2 notes of "If 6 was 9," it couldn't be more perfect.
I've never heard a recording of Jimi playing this song live, so we have no idea how he might have ended the song. Maybe not having a real ending is one reason why he didn't play it live. . . or maybe his current girlfriend didn't want him playing a song about an ex.
If you like this one, check out his song "1983... (A Merman I Should Turn To Be)", it's 13.4 minutes long, and deeeeeep, thanks guys for the great reaction.
Love your reaction, thank God indeed for Jimi. A once in a millennium talent, an unparalleled creative genius, imo. Check out 'The Burning of the Midnight Lamp', 'Look Over Yonder', 'Dolly Dagger', 'Pali Gap', 'Earth Blues', and 'The Stars That Play with Laughing Sam's Dice': a trip and a half. 🖖🏼😁🎶❤️🍁❤️🍄✨️🕊
You might like: Are You Experienced? by Jimi....other favorites: Red House, All Along The Watchtower, If 6 Was 9, Hey Joe, Purple Haze, Foxy Lady, The Wind Cries Mary - and, that's just a FEW...
“I’m so thankful for Jimi Hendrix” couldn’t have said it better…he was so revolutionary. This is my favorite album of his. He was a force of nature. Learned so much when touring the Chiltin Circuit from guys like Curtis Mayfield. Was heavily influenced by the early blues acts and his British counterparts such as Eric Clapton. His songwriting was influenced by the likes of Bob Dylan and The Beatles.
I've loved Little Wing since 14, I'm not afraid to show my age- 70. Still keep hiis music alive, passing his genius to my next generation. GOAT#1. Legend. RIP, sweet Jimi. ☮️
Stevie Ray Vaughan also did a FANTASTIC COVER of this song - he LOVED JIMI! JIMI was one of mine and my late husband's FAVORITES!! Give ANY Jimi tune a listen: YOU'LL LOVE IT!! THANKS, YA'LL for MAKIN' MY DAY!!!
This old school metal loves nothing more than watching you kids that grew up listening to hip hop and sampled music discovering where the music came from. Watching you discover and appreciate real musicianship makes me feel young again. I feel like you guys are the symbol of your generation
Y'all must, I repeat MUST listen to Band of Gypsies MACHINE GUN. It was recorded live at Bill Graham's Fillmore East, NYC. It's a whole other side of Jimi Hendrix. PLEASE react to this stellar live performance. It changed my life. It might possibly change one or BOTH of yours. NO $H!T!
That this song ended like it does says something about Jimi. He said all he had to say about the subject. Jimi's guitar playing was just a part of his vocabulary he used to express what he was compelled to share.
Now, YOU HAVE TO REACT to Stevie Ray Vaughan's cover of this song. He even uses Jimi's effect pedal with Jimi's father's permission! Nobody cover Jimi any better than Stevie. . . . .
You should check out Stevie Ray Vaughns 7 min instramental cover of Little Wing, live at the El Mocombo. Legend has it he was basically in a drug induced coma right bf the show.. After he woke up he did a bunch of coke and then went on stage to have one of the best sets of his life that night.... Allegedly 😎👍
You guys should check out a band called The Velvet Underground, i’d recommend the song “Heroin”. They were one of the most influential bands you probably never heard of. It was said that their first album originally only sold 10,000 copies, but everyone who bought their album started their own band. Lou Reed was the lead singer. If you ever check out his solo work, you should start with the song “Walk on the Wild side” 👍
Guess who is on the wall tapestry behind me as I write this? Guess who inspired me to travel the world and bring people together through the power of music? Hint, it ain't frickin Elvis.

Greatest guitar player to ever live.
little wing is criminally too short always kills me
Thankfully Stevie covered it so you get a longer version 🤘🏻🤘🏻
It's length is its greatest strength and its greatest tragedy.
I can't remember the source to quote, but somebody wrote Little Wing is like talking to your grandfather once again for just two minutes
@@cameronsatterlee5687 good quote though

You ae so right. Thank God for Jimi. He was a channel. To see and HEAR him in person was life changing and soul transformational.
Gotta hear Stevie Ray Vaughan’s instrumental version of this 🔥
The guitar at the end of this song is a thing of beauty. Brings a tear to my eye. Like fine wine.
Love this and also Fire by Jimi!
Yes guys, short but oh so sweet; the most beautiful music, that's Jimi.
maybe his best vocal performance
Jimi is great music to listen while tripping.

Stevie Ray Vaughn. Little Wing. Much longer. A must.
