Jimi Hendrix died in 1970 at the age of just 27 years old. His influence is as strong today as it was then. I am a black drummer age 65 playing in a Hendrix tribute band and it's magical. Jimi Hardin

Oh - and of course, he played a right-handed guitar upside-down.

And he had to go to England to make it cause in America for some reason, but my guess would be race, it just wasn't taking off in the states. And in London he received the respect he deserved. Yeah America will push and promote trash like Mikey cyrus or Katy Perry but ignore the likes of hendrix. It's called dumbing down and it's in full effect.

How much of the magic of his sound is lost in the true bypass wiring buffers and switches of today I wonder. It's just so raw and squealchy with feedback and yet so controlled...how?! Didn't the signal go through everything start plug to end in these days?

Underneath all of that hyperamplification and the wah-wah pedal effects, what Jimi Hendrix was literally playing there were Muddy Waters-style blues licks.
If you listen to the actual notes themselves without the extensive electricity, you can clearly hear that they're the same licks as in a tune like Muddy Waters's ""Still a Fool/Two Train Blues":

I watch all the reactions to this song. I'm stuck on it and have no need to watch his other songs although I have watched some. I see something new each time.
My favorite "hey joe" version is the black and white German TV show video.
I had a lucid dream of him when I was 14 that has stayed with me for decades. I wasn't even that into his music back then because young pimply teenage annoying white stoner boys had cornered that market.
I loved old time blues and i didn't know blues were jimi's roots. He had played with the greats.
He was a very intelligent man and a good son, there's an interview with his dad on RUclips.
Jimi plays acoustic guitar, a blues song, in a RUclips video. White background. His clothes are amazing. His sense of style, wow.

I am so glad for you, because you have found him. Jimi was initially very shy and thought that he had a bad singing voice. Beautiful isn't it? Deep, dark, and earthy. Jimi is playing with his teeth. He will also tongue the strings. Jimi can also play the guitar over his head, between his legs, and behind his back effortlessly. Note that he has a right handed guitar turned upside down and strung to play left hand. He is a genius. Nobody like him before or after his death in 1970 at age 27. Light years ahead of any other guitarist. Many disciples like SRV, and Prince, but Jimi is the real deal. GUITAR GOD!!!!! Next stop? Jimi Hendrix, Johnny B Goode, Berkeley. This performance is a cross between a guitar, the song Johnny B Goode, and an express train flat out. Chuck Berry, who wrote the song, said that Jimi quote, 'Played the living crap out of the song.' On stage with a guitar in hand Jimi is a beast, but off stage he is a cool, mellow, chilled out dude, with impeccable manners, somewhat shy and retiring. Jimi died in 1970 in suspicious circumstances. I wept and wept at his loss. The greatest and most talented musician of a century. I will never see his like again in my lifetime. Up in Heaven now with Noel and Mitch playing to God and the Angels. What a trio they have. Unbelievable, yes? When he arrived in the UK I saw him at Regents Polytechnic where he plugged into Jack Bruce's bass amplifier and played Howlin' Wolfs Killing Floor. My God.....both my life and Eric Clapton's life were never the same again! Jimi and his guitar were one, absolutely one. Never have I seen anything like him in 50 years since his death. I was hooked then, and I still am.

Thank you for your reaction to this great live Hendrix track! Sadly, Jimi is a member of the 27 club, dying when he was so young, RIP. One day you should consider reacting to his song "The Wind Cried Mary". For more black artists singing please consider The Fifth Dimension with "One Less Bell To Answer", The Four Tops with "Reach Out I'll be There", The Temptations with "Ain't To Proud To Beg" and Smokey Robinson and the Miracles with "The Tracks of My Tears"! Continued success to you on your excellent channel!

A lot of folks say SRV is the GOAT. This was his inspiration. When
Hendrix first appeared in London, Pete Townsend was there. After
watching he called Eric Clapton and said "We're f&cked!". You just
watched the greatest ever. OD'd at 27. RIP

2:55 Although it may seem like it, at that moment, Jimmy is not making any obscene gesture. In fact, he is indicating to a sector of the crowd that the solo that comes next is going to be executed with his tongue. It was something that he had done on previous occasions and that his fans demanded it from him...
Ohhh...I´m missing... That gum he's apparently chewing is most likely a slip of LSD.

You picked a great one. Jimi Hendrix is the greatest guitarist of all time. Your reaction to him playing with his teeth is the same as every other reactor. Did you notice he was playing a right handed guitar left handed and also chewing gum. No he died in 1970 from a drug overdose at the age of 27. He's buried in Greenwood cemetery in Renton,Washington. Look up the memorial his father had built its beautiful.

It only just beat the Isle of Wight festival by about 10 months, and crucially most of the English festivals are still going strong. Monteray was only one year. So as they say, it ain't where you start its where you finish. Also by the time that north America discovered hendrix he'd been a big deal in England for a good while.

    • @ShinobiShaman
      @ShinobiShaman Год назад

@user-xd5pr4qd4z Yes, he started with Mitch Michell & Noel Redding in England. Put together by Chas Chandler of The Animals. I know all about it. I even met Noel. You might still have music festivals, but the music isn't as good as it was then. & Monterey was 67, Isle of Wight was 70. In my opinion, Isle, was one of The Who's best live performances.
