Well there is always more lore to discuss in WOD, I tried to condense the Hecata into as small a video as I could while still giving enough information across to understand them. There are still lots of things I missed or didnt go over. There are alot of things I would like to revisit (such as the offshot families of the Giovanni) perhaps in a later video.
I never played V:tM / WoD sans the Redemption PC game decades ago, but think the lore of its entire universe is so captivating. I particularly like how it comadeers real history, religions & historical figures.
Samedi means Saturday in French. I don't know about the vtm lore, but in real life Baron Samedi is actually a deity from the Haitian vodou religion. He is the head of the Gede family of lwa. Among believers in Vodou, Baron Samedi is the master of the dead as well as a giver of life.
Ah, and so we arrive at my own clan. While I never welcomed the Family Gathering, I do understand it's necessity and trust in the Capuchin's wisdom. Prescious few of us Cappadocians survived to even see it. Between the Feast of Folly, the pogroms of the Giovanni, and Cappadocius abandoning us, only the wisest and strongest of us made it to see these nights. I myself used to work with the Sabbat along with the Harbingers, but that was purely because I refuse to ally myself with any faction that builds its foundation on the hated Usurpers. I never shared their values, vision, or goals. One would be foolish to view myself as a simple scholar. Many an elder has faced execution at the edge of my axe, their soul consumed by the artifacts I have gathered. My Lamia servant, Anastasia, is one of the more deadly assassins on this continent, owing to her mastery of Obfuscate after diablerizing a Banu Haqim elder long ago. I have walked through the halls of kings and fiends alike, and they knew well enough to heed my advice. I have never forgiven the Giovanni. I intend to master their Nigirimancy just as well as I have mastered my arts of Mortis. Beyond that, none of them are welcome in my domain. My Hecata brethren come to me when they need guidance and the lessons of history. And so do many a Camarilla Elder. Don't get any ideas about trying to command me, Ashspawn, for the many of people you serve owe me favors.
1. I'm ST'ing a V5 game with a Hecata player, glad to have a bit of context for greater clan culture. 2. Is that a remix of the VTMB main theme in the back? It sounds so similar.
They are different figures although your confusion is completely untestable because the forming of the group is deliberately left a bit blank. Ashur is a very powerful figure with unknown origins and one of the main founders of the Hecata as we know them. The Capuchin is a very powerful figure with unknown origins who is a core member of Hecata and one of their leaders BUT not a founder. He probably has been around since the start but I cant say that for sure. Both have contradictory information about them from different rulebooks as WOD is often want to do. This is the type of thing you could change at your home table and no-one would really notice
The line gets blurred for the Hecata. Most the groups described were small clans in their own right when Giovanni was a major clan. Now that they've combined back into a single clan, they are all bloodlines again.
"This alliance was formed for one simple reason", yes V5 sucks and decided it wanted to cull like 90% of the clans and Bloodlines out of all the cool Clans of Death into being nothing more then cookiecutter Cappadocian or Giovanni and make every ST say "why not just say you're a Giovanni it's basically the same thing and you don't neat to murder and eat people" whenever you want to play a Nagaraja God i hate what the Hecata have done i had like one fun Bloodline and it took it away from me and gave STs a pretty strong rebuttal to letting me play the character i want because "it's just easier to make the chronical work if you're just a regular Giovanni Hecata" Also SCREW Night roads for doing just that as well with the i brought Secrets and Shadows and what do you get?, "The necromancer-gangsters of the Giovanni family, members of Clan Hecata", RAVNOS gets to still be it's own thing when there is like what 3 of them but the Nagaraja?, nope screw your super fun and deep clan of Serial killers and Flesh Eaters, you get to be stuck in Hecata and get to be mistaken for a Giovanni by every Kindred you meat while your ST has the Biggest smug look on their face because she is the only person STing this month and if you decided to do it you 100% know you won't get to play again for another 7-8 months because everyone is really good at making time for the group when I ST because that means they get to have fun because i don't force V5 on everyone
You seem to have an Issue with your storyteller not the edition itself, if they weren’t combined they still could have said no to you playing a Nagaraja. They are still around and people still play them as such. The Nagaraja while becoming a bloodline are still active and in the same numbers as before, they have just never been that active in Europe or the Americas. Because of their cannibalistic tendency’s its alot harder for them to hide among cultures that view that as an abhorrent sin.
@@theashspawn i promise you these where not issues we had back in V20 it's only after we where forced to switch to V5 because it was "new" that suddenly we couldn't play the Bloodlines we wanted too, we used to have a Daughters of Cacophony player but now they don't even show up after we started using V5
I had to laugh at the "Keep it in the family" and the "Make that money, baby!" lines. Hats off to you sir~
You say death is the most powerful force but I say it’s the murder hobo known as the “Player Character”
truly the most powerful avatar of death
I might nominate "stupidity," but I would rather not gainsay the Elder. 🤣
Murder HOBO implies having
no haven
lol
The contempt in your voice at 2:07 when you said "Sabbat culture" was amazing.
There's a 3 hr video of the history of Clan Hecata. And you made one in 26mins.
That's HIGHLY Admirable. ✊
I take it you mean the video from TerrilliumV?

LORE FOR THE LORE MASTER!
Death is a tally mark in the truly most powerful force, Entropy

Hecate still a mistery for me but in some aspects you maked sounds more clear ... thanks
Just when we seemed to be rid of the Giovanni, this happens. How typical, and how tiresome.
Necromancy is so... gauche. ❤
My third or fourth favorite clan. Good job on the video
I was literally just looking for this before you posted it. I really enjoy your videos.
This is who i would like to be
nice storytelling interesting take on them...

The music is the theme for bloodlines 2 by the same composer; Rik Schaffer
Thanks! Glad to know he's still providing soundscapes for the World of Darkness

I love this channel kane 💪🙏🫶💀🎩
Most powerful force imaginable is 4 dudes with shotguns in the WoD universe
Wait by Ashur do you mean the Capuchin? Or am I just confused

Multicultural necromafia.
Im a bit confused why you use the terms Clan and Bloodline so interchangable while they are very much not the same thing.
The line gets blurred for the Hecata. Most the groups described were small clans in their own right when Giovanni was a major clan. Now that they've combined back into a single clan, they are all bloodlines again.
Is most of this still from the v20 PoV?
My videos are mostly for V5, I will pull from earlier editions stuff to fill in some gaps.

God i hate what the Hecata have done i had like one fun Bloodline and it took it away from me and gave STs a pretty strong rebuttal to letting me play the character i want because "it's just easier to make the chronical work if you're just a regular Giovanni Hecata"

@@DCPTF2 you are not being forced to play a game, you can find a different storyteller that would allow this or a new group that still play v20.
