Daughter is a competitive gymnast with severe pain from this. She already does the regular stretching with her 4 hours of workout per day. Will these still help since it is targeted and also some ice massage?
Why not? Is it surgical treated then? Or am I scared forever? I got it after a broken ankle surgery and I’m 47! Please advise…I’m very worried and I think it will make me limp forever
I had this condition in my adolescence. It's been dormant for decades. Other than protruding bone spurs that I can't kneel on it's not been giving me any trouble... until now. I'm in my mid 50s and my right knee is flaring up, quite painful. The pain originates at the bottom of the bone spur. I don't recall injuring it. Any idea what this might be? Arthritis? It just started a day ago all at once while out for a walk but the pain is getting worse.
Hey doctor Jo, I got injured about 3 weeks ago and I kept icing it n elevating it. But it doesn't hurt. It's just that the swelling is still their. Should I keep icing it for 2 more weeks or I'm ready to play? I play soccer by the way!
I would do them regularly until you don't have any more pain for at least 2 weeks. However, this might have to be a maintenance program of stretching 2-3 times a week. Good luck!!
Whaaaat!!! Ive been dealing with Osgood Schlatter since last August and it has been causing me much pain, everyone in my family says it’s growing pains but I knew it weren’t as it was only on one knee and researched for myself and have the bony bump on my knee so I researched treatment for it and I did all these stretches and it’s worked wonders I will try to do these four stretches once a day!
@@pablomendez1050 you know what, they did help haha. Strengthening those tendons also helped a lot by doing some bodyweight knee flexion exercises like assisted squats and lunges. Do take it slow with the exercises at it will likely be painful at first but as they lengthen and you get stronger the pain should start to go away. I did it the hard way and started back squatting with a barbell before I did any of that and it was not the smartest idea.
I have not heard of it before, but I did check it out just now. I get the theory behind it, and how it should help, but I am not completely sold on it. I guess I would have to try one first to give an honest opinion. I would say if you try it, be VERY careful not to cut off your circulation. Any time you wrap an elastic type material around your body, just be very aware of how it feels!! I hope that helps!!
Hey doctor Jo I know this is late but I've had the pain for about two weeks and have been resting but when I try to start playing the pain comes back please help
I'm 33 and have had Osgood Schlatter's since I was 12 and I'm usually in constant pain. I'll try these techniques and hope for the best. I haven't been able to train all week and it sucks.
Hi, I'm 17 and I had Osgood Schlatter on my right knee for about 3 years now. I still have the bump but it doesn't hurt anymore (unless I hit it). I can do squats, jump and run pretty easily, but I still can't bend my right leg all the way as I can do with my left leg, I can't kneel without moving my right leg to the side. Any advice? Can I somehow fix this with some exercises or an operation?
THANKS SO MUCH! it was hard to find a good stretches video on youtube, I had it a year ago and went to physical therapy, it stopped hurting, about a month ago I started feeling slight pain. Yesterday, I was fine and I could walk and run but today I literally woke up and couldn't walk, it came back worse than ever and I hope it go away soon :(
I had this disease since last 10 yr and now I am 21... that bump is still their without pain...so can I correct those bumps through these workout?? Please answer
I’m 31. I can’t remember what age I was diagnosed with OSD, but I was very young. I was told it was because I was growing too fast, I was also told it would go away when I stopped growing which could be as late as 26. I believe I am done growing now, I’m 6’1.5/6.2 (it’s always different depending on who’s measuring me lol) and I still suffer from knee pain due OSD. My bumps are huge and protruding. Usually the pain isn’t too terrible, but the older I get the worse it gets. OSD Pain led me here tonight.. I’m going to try these stretches out and see what happens. Thanks!
I can't really go out in times like these, so I've been trying to self-diagnose and I'm not sure if this is what I am dealing with. I can't really lift my leg because it hurts and feels like something is pulling it back and I can't even walk properly. After reaching a certain threshold I can hold it up but it tries to rebound back in position. I'd really appreciate if you could help me.
This condition has a bone sticking out right below your knee, it hurts just below the bump. I can't kneel or squat because it hurts, is uncomfortable when going up the stairs, but it does not hurt when walking or moving normally.
Hi ! I am 45 yrs Male and have been diagnosed with OSD, I am a regular cyclist and runner, should i continue with the activity or rest for couple of months.
Hi Dr. Jo I’ve had this after I played sport then I rested it for 4 days everything felt normal then when I played sport again it’s back and it hurts can you give me advice on how long should I rest and go back or any advice in general🙏🏽
So I'm hoping these stretches work, I'm in the Army and after a ruck march ( 12 mile walk with 60lbs on back) I got a little lump under my knee cap I hope it helps ease the pain when I run
I'm 11 and play volleyball and soccer I got this and looked it up to see what it was I was crying in pain cause it wouldn't go away I could barely walk so I looked it up on yt and found this it helped me a lot and my family so they don't hear crying every time I stand thank u so much for making this video now I can play the sports I want with no pain so thnx 😊
I am 14 I play baseball and basketball. I am 6 foot and 175. I knew I was a big boy but I am also a catcher in baseball. Is there any kind of surgery to get rid of it? If so what is recovery time??
Hey, my sport is hobbyhorsing, and I am pretty sure I have this Osgood Schlatter. It has been from July 2019, but I haven't care. I really hope these help! And I am this year 13yo :)
Hi jo I am 15 years old and play soccer around 5 times a week sometimes more. I have noticed and bump just below my knee cap. When I train it is ok for maybe 30 mins but in the second half of the session it gets stiff and I find it difficult to do different movements could u define wether this is osgood schlatter or something else thanks.
Thank you. I have had this for about six months. Never had it before. I'm 64 years old so I can't understand why everything I see about this says that it happens in teenagers!!! I never had it until now.
I am 33 and was diagnosed at 8 with osgood slaughters disease, I play basketball almost everyday weather permitting and have been having knee pain that has been hindering me from performing to my potential. was wondering if these stretches will help with the pain and if there is anything i can do to reduce the pain while playing.
I feel like this is what I have. Had symptoms with my left knee a year ago. Had xrays and MRI and all they found was some sort of friction helling to the lateral patella. It eventually got better. But now I'm experiencing the same thing on the right knee. Have tenderness when touching or walking right below the kneecap. Hurts when applying pressure when elevation as changed when walking. Also hurts to raise leg straight and to lift ankle onto opposite knee to put socks or shoes on. I have been icing it. But can heat help loosen the muscle as well?
Hey doctor Jo, I am 13 years old and play soccer. I have developed OSD a couple months ago and was wondering how many times a day should I do these stretches and any tips?
My 10 yr old has this condition very bad when he plays basketball his knee swells do you think this condition will stop him from playing sports? Does it ever get better? First time I hear of this and kind of worried
I have had this for 3 year now, I’m 17 and still have it. I really hope this helps because this could potentially get me discharged from the military. Running is a challenge due to this disease, and so is jumping, and lifting. I’m just praying it will go away soon.
I am diagnosed with osgood schlatters. can I bend my knee like in the stretches without worsening my condition? looking forward to your response, thanks for your time.
I'm 16 and has had Osgood Schlatter for years. Currently the knee pain is getting worse and worse and its in both knees. What else could I do other than the stretches that will help?
+Jeff Manory They should help. I think it is definitely worth trying. Catchers do get much more pressure on their knees which pulls on the patellar tendon, so it is likely. Good luck.

Hey Doctor i recently came across this new knee and elbow wrap called the "voo doo floss wrap". it's supposed to help increase blood flow to sore and painful joints. Have you ever heard of it? If so whats your opinion on this type of treatment?
Hi Doctor Jo! I'm 15 Years Old.I have Osgood Schlatter Disease,I want To Play Football but I don't play football,You are showed some exercises, thank! I will doing this exercises every day? Please answer me!
2 questions 1. How long will it take for these exercises to be effective? I assume it hugely depends on the person but abouts? 2. Can you run and exercise trough the pain? Whats the worst that could happen?
It definitely depends on the person and how severe your case is. Some people feel relief in just a week or two, and other times it might take several months. I wouldn't recommend working through the pain. It can cause long term problems in the future.

Hey Doctor i recently came across this new knee and elbow wrap called the "voo doo floss wrap". it's supposed to help increase blood flow to sore and painful joints. Have you ever heard of it? If so whats your opinion on this type of treatment?
I've grown so much after having this and the pain has gone. I'm wondering how to get rid of the lump ?
Enito I'm glad the pain is gone. Unfortunately, the lump is bone build up. There is no way to get rid of it. Good luck!
Hello, I'm a runner and I have pain around the bump below my knee. It sounds like Osgood Schlatters, but I'm 38. Will this help me?

I'm 13 years old and developed this about 2 months and I struggle to play football if I do these stretches will it help and cure me?
Hopefully they will. It really depends on how severe it is. Good luck!
R3actionZz did it help?
2 questions
