      @@JoseLearnsSpanishThat's the whole point though! Because she is nowhere near as powerful. The fact she even managed to knock him down means that was giving it her all. Don't you understand how that is better than her just overpowering everybody? She's always the underdog. It's about bravery not sheer power. FFS have ever even read a comic book? It's all deliberate. Because she's still learning how powerful she could be but hasn't reached her peak. It's a character journey not a Michael Bay film.

      You ever seen Rocky? He doesn't win in the end. It's about the fight, and being better than you thought you were and the development of the character.
      If she won easily then there would be no story and no real challenge.

    They did starlight dirty as hell in this series lmao. She needs some extremely powerful ass abilities to be called “starlight”
    You think of the power of a star, and then you get some weak ass impulse blowing him back a few feet. Nah I want pulsar black hole type shit. I want her to build up in power like that and then start melting his skin off with gravity pulses and manipulating the light around her to cut through shit - like his shield.

    I don’t know why they think he is racist. All racists are bad but not all bad people are racists.

    • @CA-ci6rp
      @CA-ci6rp Год назад +15

      I don't think Soldier Boy is overtly racist, but he has a tolerance for racism because he doesn't really care. It's mentioned in the show he used a fire hose on civil rights protestors and he had a relationship with Liberty (Stormfront), who even in that guise was an overtly racist individual. So it's not that Soldier Boy is the type to wave a white power flag and use racist language. It's quite plausible that Soldier Boy himself doesn't consider himself racist. After all, Soldier Boy holds up Bill Cosby as "America's Dad". But the ideology that backs the system that Soldier Boy claims to stand for was undoubtedly racist. Ultimately, before he was betrayed, he was someone who unquestioningly followed orders, even if those orders served no other purpose than supporting a racist status quo.

    • @OceanHedgehog
      @OceanHedgehog 6 месяцев назад +2

      @@CA-ci6rp Soldier Boy comes from another era, too. Like, literally pre-WW2 where overt racism was the norm.

    • @MrJ2theC
      @MrJ2theC Месяц назад

      The show is character driven . Whether or not he's racist, this is written to show that everyone has a different perspective. The writers aren't expressly saying that he's racist, they are saying that MM's character sees him as a racist.
      Think more about the individual characters and it makes more sense. Homelander is a narcissist but we get to see his personal logic and self conflict due to his painful upbringing etc, Billy Butcher is a sociopath because of his upbringing. None of the characters are supposed to be objectively in the right. It's supposed to be a social commentary on the way that everyone is different due to various aspects of their nature and/or nurture. And how each individual acts on that.

      This scene was never meant to show off Starlights powers, it was never meant to show her knocking soldier boy on his ass, it was written to be foreshadowing, to give us an idea of what more she can do because previously she's been relatively mediocre in the power department but after her character development I think the writers are hinting at Starlight growing in power in the coming seasons.
      Not really, she can absorb various form's of energy, that's kinda neat but her ability to manipulate light is actually OP, atm her powers are flat but theoretically she could do a wide range of feats with light, such as indirectly manipulate gravity, create illusions, turn invisible, open black holes, blind, burn and incinerate people or severely damage bodily cells which is another term for cancer inducement, she could also power nuclear power plants, or in the upper echelons of her abilities, she can cause explosions the size of a supernova, wipe out the ozone layer, knockout all electrical systems on the planet, and if she manages to gain enough skill to control the entire electromagnetic spectrum then at that point Homelander will be way below her league, or taken off the chart all together.
      But atm, it's just photon beams lol, see what the next season has for us.

    Not sure why people are saying hes racist. Butcher attacked soldier boy because soldier boy attacked homelanders son who happened to be the son of butchers wife and he promised becca he would keep him safe, had nothing to do with racism.
    Also the fact that soldier boy killed all the supes in his old unit that handed him over to the russians.
    You hear butcher say before attacking soldier boy "not the kid".
    Soldier boy attacked the kid because the kid lasered soldier boy off homelander (his father) because soldier boy was gonna kill homelander then soldier boy turned on the kid which made butcher turn on soldier boy by lasering him because soldier boy was going to do his chest explosion which wouldve killed the boy, if butcher hadnt done that then they all wouldve been dead. Thats why butcher turned against soldier boy, not because he was racist. Homelander then turned around to also laser soldier boy.
    Maeve then attacked homelander, (after he and butcher both lasered soldier boy into the studio) even after homelander told her repeatedly to stop because they have bigger fish to kill, maeve had her reasons and really good ones too, i do see why homelander told maeve "now is not the time" but at the same time, when wouldve been a good time?
    Edit: Homelander also did try to protect his son, soldier boy hitting his son was the icing on the cake for butcher to switch sides, even though homelander tried to say they could all be a family, even told his son that soldier boy was his grandfather. Unfortunetaly any attempts to ammend this father/son relationship got rejected by soldier boy after he called homelander his biggest disappointment before attacking. Homelander was a psycho, but he did still have some human left in him for love of his family.
    In this scene, hughie was going to take the Temp-V, but another dose wouldve been fatal for him after starlight warned him it would kill him if he took another dose, she found out she could fly after hughie started believing in her and turned up the lights and voltage in the room which made starlight way more powerful, he knew going in there was going to kill him whether or not he did take the Temp-V, since starlight already had powers he knew he had to help her rather than get himself killed by soldier boy, which annie would never have lived it down. This is actually the first time we see Annie fly. Though i am kinda disappointed in the directors for not making starlights overcharged beam not do more damage, it was like it just made him bounce back, it shouldve at least burnt a hole in his chest, hell she couldve even been a collosal explosion of electricity with that much electric charge kinda like a supernova hence the name 'starlight'
