Sensacional!!!
wow thats such a high tech build process and extremely futuristic design , car building has changed so much , quality control looks paramount in this factory
Was a Mercedes Benz tech for almost 7 yrs. Pulling dashboards, replacing complete harnesses, finding vacuum system lock leaks , timing chains, don't miss it.
one of the most awesome cars from BMW in recent years. actually my favourite car from them although it does not look as good as some of their other models.
There is so much better quality in this video than the last video I watched. I’m guessing when all is said and done it cost the company around 10 to 12 thousand to build the entire vehicle. It’s sold for $40,000 plus. That’s a nice profit
I have a degree in electrical engineering, and working on industrial robots maintenance and programing. Could I work in a factory like this one? This is madness 👏🏻👏🏻
Just imagining the money, time, efforts and collective coordination that must have got into making this car possible . Truely beyond imagination , engineering capability is years ahead of their time . Thanks for upload
A very futuristic car with its aluminium & carbon fiber construction. The look takes getting used to but there is technological & mechanical beauty in the design of the i3. I never historically cared for BMW, but now I kind of want an i3 94Ah REx.
@@Lawrence0S No they didn't cleaned just for this filming. Probably you don't know Germans, they prepare the factory for TUV inspection now and then with absolute general cleaning and safety but sincere to be, there is almost no way to accumulate any dirt or garbage. Beside that working in BMW factories won't bring you to far, their salaries are a shame. One of my brothers work for BMW for more then 22 years and he don't earn more then a kitchen-porter here in Dublin. At least as a kitchen-porter you'll get free drink/food and a bit of tips too )) Engineers and upper class yes, they earn sound money but not the few human robots that are left over there.
Thank you for not putting in a bunch of background music. The natural sounds are so much better. Hearing impaired people have a difficult time discerning words from music, could understand every word, Again, Thank you.
Simply amazing automation. The jigs alone are a work of art. I struggle though to understand how the cost of such a development can ever prove profitable for one type of electric vehicle. I guess this would also proof test the concept of automating carbon fiber production. Still, they must have expected to sell a lot of units.
Impressive Factory. Very Clean. However at tape counter 40:07 the finished i3 looks like its missing the headlight trim. Is that item an option when it leaves the factory ?
Fantastic video. Tremendous technology. factory is extremely clean, people are all in uniform, machines are very well kept and clean. Everything is a state of art. About Europeanautosource who post the video, my congratulations for a so good video and the best: not music at all. The best music in videos are the natural sound produced by machines, people working, compressed air, that particular noise of the robotics, and many other sounds produced by the assembling process. A must to watch video. I loved.
Great motivational video: On the one hand, these cars would cost ten times as much were the tasks not automated. One the other hand, this video was recorded over 6 years ago. Most of the tasks shown which required people have since been automated.
On the 3rd hand cars didn't get cheaper, even they're made with less and less people who are the biggest cost factor in production. Yet the car industry again cries after tax payers money _(at least in Germany)_ and are still paying huge dividend to their shareholders.
@@FabFunty Newer cars certainly cost a lot more. But a large part of that is the addition of airbags, anti skid, traction control, tire pressure monitor systems, collision avoidance, lane detection, high end stereos, navigation systems, 8 to 10 speed transmissions, superior metallurgy in the frame and engine, advance fuel injection systems, heated/cooled/ and even massaging seats, multi zone climate control, built in WiFi hotspots, multiple cameras, large touchscreen displays, 'Onstar' or equivalent satellite based communications systems, video infotainment systems, automated parking assistance, etc. Labor used to be the largest cost factor. But that's no longer clear, at least to me. Some of these robotic systems are hideously expensive yet are deemed cost effective because of the reduction in required labor force. The number of costly mandatory recalls and liability claims have increased as well. The taxpayer bailout issue is a tough one, whether it's automotive, bank or insurance (AIG) bailouts. Citizens suffer while the heads of these companies have the gall to still issue huge bonuses to a select few. At a minimum, that should be illegal. At the same time, whether it is the U.S. or Germany, can you imagine a major industrial country having one of its top two or three automotive manufacturers vanish, along with the jobs and skills associated with it? Manufacturing is a strategic asset, especially as relates to transport and energy. The U.S. has apparently lost much of its medical manufacturing infrastructure. The Covid debacle serves as a wake up call that manufacture of medical supplies & medicines are also strategic assets which any major industrial country must preserve.
12:22 is potentially a serious problem! If you look closely when the machine is applying a silicone based adhesive(gasket). It applies to much and runs off to the inside of the case. This might cause problems in the future but not likely.
+sosick2005 Yeah I doubt that. I highly doubt the BMW engineers didn't design that part of the case to be vulnerable to spilled sealant. The people who set up these factors are FAR FAR smarter than you or I.
+Will Davis Don't get all worked up. I'm Not taking anything away from their brilliance. I'm a German auto lover. But Stevie wonder could see that is an issue
The workplace looks so clean and neat! pleasant conditions to work in
16:33 ingenious use of fixturing. Looks like an HSK taper adapted for repeatable locating.
Amazing! Just bought a used 2017. Now I have a glimpse inside the production. Pretty cool.
Crazy cool. The quietness is what struck me the most.

Saludos!!
Impressive production footage!
wow thats such a high tech build process and extremely futuristic design , car building has changed so much , quality control looks paramount in this factory
The humans that design and build these machines and tools are incredibly intelligent.
quanta excelência! parabéns! Deus abençoe a todos!
Great tour...

In a nutshell, impressive piece of engineering and manufacturing.
I worked with the waterjetcutting robots in this plant. . . . . .working in bmw liepzig factory was an wonderful experience .
THIS....IS.......BEAUTIFUL!!!
would love to work in a company like this to watch something being created in perfect harmony absolutely mesmerizing
Great Video. Thanks for posting.
Clean factory is a great thing! :) I like the video!

That is the best car I have ever saw
great factory sound!
Nice shots of the BMW IB1P25B eAxle being assembled.
Incredible video! Thanks for sharing

great work robots!!!
BMW this is Engineering Brilliance that many other Auto Manufacturers could only Envy especially the American Brands. Very Impressed.
Mais c'est extraordinaire Bravo !!
Gotta give credit to the engineers that make These robots. Incredible technology.
great works guys. well done.
amazing technology, I couldn't blink.
is the line production designer comes from another planet?????
I truly appreciate this.
This is fantastique. And remember it all started with the wheelbarrow all those years ago.
🤣😅😎👍🏾
I really love this.
Not one speck of dust, amazing factory.

awesome visit.. Saved to my playlists, gone to 'Unexplained Mysteries' .. LOL
I admire motor technology!
Nice to see how my car was made :-)
I see similar movements at the Pub :)
Good job I like that one
Cuanta tecnología, me encantó!
this is exponentially amazing
I'd love to work there... maybe I could be the janitor. It's the best job. The place is so clean I wouldn't have to do anything.
Take a shit in the corner, it may enhance the place!
If you don't think they cleaned to make this video, I'm shocked.

Very impressed now if BMW would make a car that looks like an 2 series with electric power.
PLEASE
Where do you think this is all leading too, patience young padawin, hmmm

Das ist fantastisch!
I wish this was narrated. Maybe in a "DVD commentary" style.
40:14 I want that lift system in MY garage!
when megatron & decepticon work together.. I love it..

Best 40 Minutes and 32 Seconds on RUclips! Absolutely superb. As an Automation & Control Engineer, its the equivalent of a Jazz Magazine ;o)
is that carbon fibre - alloy composite? at beginning
o my god...........its realy wonder.....keeep it up
German assembly plant: let's double check everything with a torque wrench
USA assembly plant: fuck it
NICE VIDEO! HOPING TO SEE MORE OF THIS! WOW!
fantastic process

sosick2005 holy fuck a car expert! i bet you took a sample of the adhesive to the lab to see what it was made of!
At end of this video, do any other one hear the song Payphone by Maroon 5 ? I just want say the BMW i3 manufacturing process is so cool and august!
SOME human assembly required. LOL Very nice tour.
Appreciation
great works robort
where do they get their metal from?
