    Why does the elongation cycle stop when we have C16-acyl ACP?
    Does it always stop at 16 carbon-atoms or could the chain be longer/shorter??
    And i dont understand why you talk about palmitate. I understand that it is a 16 carbon fatty acid, but does "fatty acid synthesis" always only synthesize palmitate?
    Thank you for this videos! They are really helpful :)

    • @idilfarah2798
      @idilfarah2798 8 лет назад

      I have just found out that, there are enzymes on the cytoplasmic face of the endoplasmic reticulum membran that catalyze the elongation reactions in which longer fatty acids are formed.

    Great video, thank you!
    what happens next when we have a Palmitic acid (that already is a free FA ) ?
    when the body needs to produce longer chains, what happens then?
