  • Easy Lawn Mower oil change and the results I got using the DIY oil extractor that Chris Notap built. It works by extracting the oil from the mower using a mason jar, shop vac and tubes. Works very fast and you can change your oil in your mower in under 5 minutes. DIY Oil change made easy! Thanks Chris!
    Here is an update video on DIY oil change using shop vac that Chris made a couple weeks ago:

    Works great for someone like me who has muscular dystrophy and can't manhandle a lawnmower or a manual pump very well. I got my local sandwich shop to give me an empty 1 gallon jar that their jalapenos come in but convenience stores that sell pickles also have them and are happy to keep them out of the landfill. I also am not a pop user so I got my 2 litter bottle from my neighbor's recycle bin. I skipped the hose in a hose idea and only bought the 3/8 hose. After using this setup I opened the drain on the engine (riding mower) and not a drop was left. It's the least messy of all the oil changes I've ever seen. Thanks for the help.

Run the end of the hose thru the cut bottle thru the shop Van to a plastic bottle that will sit inside. Drill another hole in the top for the end of the hose.

      @@Thelawncarenut the hose loaded with oil will be destroyed the next time you want to use it. Petroleum distillate in the oil will eat and harden pvc tubing. You need to flush the hose.

    Your neighbors must know you are not only a lawn care nut but a regular nut too. Don’t see very many grown ass men rolling around on the ground in the front yard working the best social media camera angles. If someone saw me doing that I am sure an ambulance would be called. He's having a heart attack! Keep having fun...

    Why use two different types of tubing? Just curious. 😎

    • @Thelawncarenut
      @Thelawncarenut  4 года назад +1

      the stiffer tubing you insert into the oil fill hole allows you to push it around down in there like a dentist performaing suction in your mouth hole. If you used the more flexible vinyl it would not give you the same poking control. (sorry for all the technical terms lol)

      I am sorry about your loss. Maybe it will be loved by a new owner who will think when mowing the first time ' wow, my grass sure looks good, wonder who it was who made it look so good'? So leave a note and tell them what you did, I know I would really appreciate it.

    Well the Toro mower I have says you never have to change the oil.

    • @raymondcampbell2346
      @raymondcampbell2346 4 года назад +1

      That is because they want to sell you a new one in about 3 years when the engine goes bad. Change the oil anyway and use synthetic as the manufacturer did and the mower will last.
