A lot of fans were saying Kendrick stole the idea from Lupe for Damn, sometimes artist just think alike...
Even before the both of them, Undun by the Roots was a concept album in reverse so unless people wish to assume that Lupe stole from them, I severely doubt that Kendrick stole from Lupe

A Long Red Hot Los Angeles Summer Night is an underrated concept album by Blu. While not the most unique as inspired by Masta Ace's concept albums, Blu's rapping and Oh No's Cali beats were peak form.

I don't appreciate though how y'all had possibly the greatest hip hop album of all time in yo mouths and didn't even realize that it could be considered a concept album--Ready to Die! Look, think about the intro...you hear a child being born, you hear his father leaving soon after, then you hear him preparing to rob a train to get money as a teenager, then...bam! Things Done Changed starts. And throughout the albums run time, you basically see a kid grow up in poverty, pick up the street game, become a player and rise to the top of the game. But then all the stress and problems that come with that start weighing on him and then bam! he kills himself. Now, there are 2 more tracks on the album but they are actually supposed to be bonus tracks; Suicidal Thoughts is intended to be the final song on the album. Now maybe it doesn't seem like a concept album because it so closely mirrors Biggie's own life, but it still is imo. I'm around the same age as some of y'all (meaning the DEHH crew), so I remember putting this shit on at 14 (I taped a copy of my older brother's cd) and it was like watching a movie. @@tommorgan8589 The Cool Concept Summary Lupe likes to make big extended metaphors and have songs and albums that are double and triple entendres. Lupe Fiasco was raised Muslim and he puts a lot of semitic concepts into his albums. So the album can function conceptually on multiple levels.
Level 1 So the cool is an album about the character from the song “The cool” which debut on Food and Liquor. A drug dealer who comes back from the dead to sell drugs on the same block he was shot and killed on.
Level 2 The Album is loose narrative about the Game, The Streets, and The Cool. Three characters that are personified on the album directly and who’s symbols (the hand, the locket, and the skull) are prominently displayed on the cover. Now if you ask Lupe in an interview what the album is about, he will generally either give level 1 or level 2 as the answer while alluding to a deeper meaning.

I'd say Oneirology counts. The concept is essentially about dreams and plays out like a fairy tale/myth with the narrator giving us more info on what's going on.

i don't know if y'all are familiar with a 90's hiphop group callled the GOATS. They had a unique concept album called tricks of the Shade. Copped the cd back when, and i don't know if they were a commercially known US group because i'm fom The Netherlands, but back then, to me, it was a banger with a conscious message

Tyler has the best concept album(s) he did it with 4 projects and they all connected. His first 2 albums (Bastard and Goblin) are a therapy session with Dr. TC. Wolf is either a prequel or sequel to Goblin with Tyler going to camp (Flog Gnaw) and meeting the people we heared in previous albums. In the Cherry Bomb universe, these albums are movies and you can a radio station on 2SEATER giving tickets away to the Trilogy Showing (Bastard, Goblin, and Wolf)
Saba:Care for me was a great concept let alone a one of my favorites period and also Joyner Lucas: 508-507-2209 is another great classic. Concept too. Also a lot of Big K.r.i.t. albums are too. Kartori Walker: a minute of your time is a great concept and it's 5mins long 5acts

Tyler has the best concept album(s) he did it with 4 projects and they all connected. His first 2 albums (Bastard and Goblin) are a therapy session with Dr. TC. Wolf is either a prequel or sequel to Goblin with Tyler going to camp (Flog Gnaw) and meeting the people we heared in previous albums. In the Cherry Bomb universe, these albums are movies and you can a radio station on 2SEATER giving tickets away to the Trilogy Showing (Bastard, Goblin, and Wolf)
