Not Much!! Even with a 10-hour layover, you need an hour to unwind, another in a.m. to wake, coffee, shower, dress and go. And those "sleep" hours are almost never your normal times, so often after almost NO sleep, you're facing a long flight, then drive home. We're always greeting each other in the a.m. with "How did you sleep?', and we really CARE!! 🥴 I've flown for many years, and missed a LOT of nights' sleep. I totally agree, driving home tired, you MUST pull over and nap!!
Not checking it right in the morning is such a smart move cause it might trick your brain into thinking you will have a bad day. I've been thinking about applying as a flight attendant, but I know that sleep is super important for me and I am trying to understand if I would be able to sleep well
Yes absolutely!! True, I guess that is something you will need weigh up the pros and cons - it can be a tiring job and you have to really be on top of your sleep!
Hey Bri. Bit of a silent watcher but I have binged so many of your videos, I have watched you for so long and I am currently doing my pilot training, I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate these videos. I was/am going through a rough and tough patch in my life and I just love sitting in bed, watching a few of your videos and heading to sleep. Nothing creepy, like some of these comments are.. but seriously, this is not something I would normally watch, but you have a great and somewhat relatable personality. Thanks a lot ☺️
Hey 🙂 thank you for your message! haha that’s not creepy at all, I appreciate your honesty & I really hope life gets a bit easier for you! I’m always here if you want to reach out and talk about it. That’s so awesome you are doing your pilot training!! Good luck with it all ✈️
That gadget is amazingly cool Bri. Very interesting stuff. About the only thing it doesn't do is tell if/when you had a dream during the night! I myself may be allergic to mornings. lol Have been a night owl as long as I remember. Thanks for sharing!
Me being crew as well, i started tracking my sleep through my apple watch.. i noticed i was sleeping 4h every night for 6 days straight.. and i was wondering why on my one day off i was sleeping literally all day, when i found out how bad it is to operate a 12h duty on 4h sleep i started taking melatonin to improve my sleep quality and force myself to fall asleep when i need to. I’ve definitely noticed that i am no longer constantly feeling like i am floating. I honestly think overall this is an industry wide issue, because i’ve became immune to being awake for 40+ hours at a time since becoming cabin crew!
Great video about sleep 😮 I for one do not like Daylight Savings time because I am a morning person & prefer not to have an extra hour of light at the end of the day. Sleep is very important for body healing & I love it! 😊🙋🏼♀️👍🏻🇺🇸
I always wondered how flight attendants coped with working different hours. Now I know. Not good :( 😌 I’m a night owl too, but I’m trying to change that because of how the ‘normal’ world works. I do relief teaching and I absolutely hate being tired because in teaching (as in most jobs) you absolutely have to be on top of your game.
I used to live off Melatonin but recently our airline banned them. We can't take it while upline or the day before operating. I will try reading to help me sleep! Thanks for your vlog 🙏🏽
So interesting to see your sleep tracking, l use one of the watches but it doesnt have as many features as your ring. Im not a morning person so l would definitely not be able to handle those early mornings, l much prefer overnight shifts to early mornings (Nurse) but can relate to that nodding off driving home after an overnight. Thanks for sharing 👍
i love a good "bedtime" tea my absolute favourite is Yorkshire tea bedtime brew. its a black tea so i can take it with milk it has vanilla, nutmeg and lemon balm its the perfect drink before bed and you can have it with or with out the milk (i love it with milk as i dont like the fruity herbal sleep teas)
Interesting ring, never heard of it, I could track my sleep on my watch but I don't like wearing it to bed. I am working at a hospital no night shift yet but arvo and early. Arvo is great, I go the pool in the morning without rushing. At times I have trouble falling asleep and I listen to rain sound on a Spotify, runs for 10 hours. There is also a magnesium sleep soluble drink I have, not sure how much that works though.
Hi Bri. Ive got a question and im wondering if you can help me answer it as your a flight attendant? So im flying to London Heathrow via Singapore on Friday the 13th of September. Im flying direct from Adelaide(where im from) to London Heathrow via Singapore with an 8 hour layover in Singapore airport. Im just wondering if we will have the same plane and crew to London after our layover or if we will have different crew? Hopefully you can answer my question Btw im From Adelaide
Hey great question, I would assume you would have different crew as the duty time to do both those flights my be too long. I am unsure about the same plane, if you try looking that up closer to the date either on your booking or flight radar might give you an idea of what type of plane you will be on for both those flights :) Have a great trip!
@@BrieanaYoungthanks so much. What is the exact point of a layover and what can we do exactly? Are we allowed to leave the airport on a layover of 8 hours?
@@chelseab924 if you have the right requirements to enter singapore (visa, passport) then i'm sure you can go explore if you would like! The reason for a layover is that a direct flight from adl to london is impossible at this point in time as no plane can fly for that long in one flight so they have to stop and refuel etc.
@@BrieanaYoung ah right okay makes perfect sense thanks so much for answering my questions 😊 I've followed you on Instagram do you think you could chuck me a follow back. I've only just started watching your channel and I'm already in love 🥰

Thanks!! ❤ohhh that book sounds totally up my alley!

Hey, bri! Thank you so much for this sleep advice. It will be a game changer for me. The time zones can really confuse your body clock, too 😊
You're so welcome!

Bedtime routine.. I'm guessing you were "quite" tired 10:12 hehe. Thanks for sharing bre!
bahahaahah 😂
I don't need to spend $314 to find out if I've had a good sleep or not.
Is this ring an alternative to the oura ring?
Edit: Leaving my comment here for engagement but I now finished the video where you gave more detail 🤪
Hahah thanks for your support and leaving the comment haha! It’s such a cool ring & yes similar to the oura ring!
You should try Sleepytime tea. By Celstial Seasonings.
I call that my nightmare tea, as each time I have drunk it I would have nightmares hahaha!! I’ve heard brilliant things about it though

yes it's the best having the mornings to chill and go at your own pace! going to the pool sounds amazing haha!!
Magnesium supplements for sleep
👍👍
does the app measure the "almost sleep" like when you nod off?
Yes I think it calculates it as “light sleep” :)
@@BrieanaYoung it would be great to see what other data it collects - how does it wear for times like weight lifting? does it scratch?
Random question, How much annual leave do u get as a full time flight attendant yearly?
6 weeks !
Hey Brie! I've heard your EBA has changed, roughly speaking how much do you get for layovers (if you don't mind me asking)
We get around $7 per hour away from home
