Hi, I'm in the early stages of getting my cv and cover letter ready to apply for being a flight attendant. I am feeling positive. Thank you for sharing all your tips x
Amazing video!!! Would be great to see a video explaining about payment rates and all that, I just start following you and I’m your fan already ✈️ ✈️ ❤️ 💜
Aww thank you so much for the follow! It really means more then you think! I'm in the planning of making a video all about the pay scale! So keep an eye out for that one!! :) ✈️
I am always horrified when I hear that US flight attendants only get paid when the aircraft doors are shut, not from when they sign on. Australian industrial regulations are much tighter than that. Can you imagine any of our unions allowing that kind of circumstance to occur?!
Same!! It was very surprising when I first found out, the US FA all seem like such hard workers so definitely something they deserve. (*To be payed for all the hours they work) Thank goodness for regulations and unions!
I'm not sure about the other airlines in the US but I think we all kind of have the same type of pay system. You start getting paid 1 hour before the flight domestic, 1 1/2 hours for International flights. This pay is very low which may vary from airline to airline but most likely around $2.45 per hour while you're in a pre-departure briefing, conducting a security check on the aircraft along with boarding the aircraft. The big pay begins for most airlines when the doors are shut or when you're getting pushed back from the gate for taxi. Top of scale @ 12 years $55.00-$65.00 per hour also you have extra pay for night flights, International or if you're holding a language position for the destination you're flying to. Just like Brieana said, pay is a whole different vlog with so many variables that happen or could happen.
which do you prefer airport standby or standby at home. ? i know as a supply teaching assistent i prefer to know if i am working in advance and where i am heading what times i need to be there and what i am going to be doing just to calm my own anxieties ( i have literally been called by my work at like 20 mins before i am needed and its a 35 min bus ride) i also hate being late. cant wait to see the next vlog. also are you back flying after the covid hokey-cokey that Melbourne have been playing ?
I think I prefer standby at home!! I definitely get it when you said you like to know what you are doing. I use to get so anxious about being called. Im still not flying which is so sad, but I’m hoping by next month I get some shifts! How has it been in the UK for you?
Hi Bri! Great Vlog! I’m so glad that you guys get fed. I did wonder about that, because I see a lot of the US airline UTubers, -most of them are AA (American Airlines, which is One World like Qantas) and they all seem to bring their own food, I wouldn’t have thought Qantas would do that too, because that just isn’t the way Aussies roll. Will you do intn’l? I’m pretty sure that it has always been Domestic or International flight attendants. Out of all the Hosties I’ve known over many years, if they fly domestic, they never fly international, -perhaps Aust. to Bali or something, but to US, Europe or Africa, -it’s a completely different system, -isn’t it? Do you stay anywhere nice? It’d be great to see some overnight travel adventures! Stay Safe! Kirstey x
Hey Kirstey, thanks for your comment & for watching :) we are definitely very lucky we get feed! it’s great because most of the time you don’t get a change to get off the aircraft & even buy food! So it’s so nice they do that. I am definitely open to doing international but I’m happy at domestic for now!! We get to stay in some really nice places & hotels, I have made a few vlogs at the start of this year (when we could travel interstate) where I showed the hotels and things like that so if you are curious definitely check those videos out!
Curious if you made a video with your husband about what it's like being married to a flight attendant? I'm considering applying to become one myself, but I'm not sure what it would be like for our relationship. Would love to hear yall's perspective!!
Hi BriHi Brieana, I'm going to have an interview in few days but I'm a bit nervous as English is not my first language. Could you share any experience with someone who speaks Enlgish as a second and working as a cabin crew at the moment?
Hey there are plenty of people where English is not their first language! The fact you know another language is a bonus and very valuable in the airline industry! as it can help passengers who speak your language. Good luck 🤞
@@BrieanaYoung Full on my brain is exploding with information overload. What a beautiful company I love being in the crew room seeing all the crew coming in and out, maybe one day you may come to Perth and I’ll see you haha xx
It’s hard to say!!! But I can’t imagine them not going back since all the planes we currently fly can do those routes. We will just have to wait and see 😊
Hi Brieanna! I’m soon to start ground school with VA. I’m so excited! I would love to ask you about more info on visible tattoos. My few minimal tattoos were disclosed during my interview to my interviewer and they suggested I can wear long sleeve and pants options. Are there any other Flight Attendants you know who have tips and tricks to cover visible tattoos so I have the option to wear the VA dress uniform? Thanks in advance!
@@BrieanaYoung Thank you! I can’t wait to start ☺️ I have one on the inside of my bicep area that slightly shows with an short sleeve. Also one on the side of my calve which I think we will the most difficult to cover. Smallest one on my ankle which could potentially be covered by a bandaid if that’s accepted?
@@taylafoskett455 hey yes crew with tattoos usually wear bandaids or large skin coloured bandaid patches to cover tattoos, some wear make up to cover it as well - I’m not sure what brand sorry. You could always just wear the cardigan on board to cover the ones on your arms & perhaps wear a bandaid and get not so sheer tights to cover the one on your leg .. just some ideas! Hope this helps!
@@BrieanaYoung I’m glad they can cover them with bandaids, I wasn’t sure if it would’ve been allowed. I’m going to try all my efforts to cover them as best as I can, fingers crossed I can manage something 🤞🏼 thank you! ☺️
Hey I just want to know what the current situation of the airline, is it operational properly I mean flying properly and how much do they pay to the crew on an average a month. As I am a cabin crew my self in India. So wanted to know that
Hello! Thanks for watching! I'm going to do a video all about the payment scale so definitely hold tight for that one! I am currently on leave without pay for this week because of the current situation. I am hoping that next month flights are back to normal since most of the states are saying they will open up by then! But we will see :)
to the QF flight attendant why on earth you would think VA will be low cost . I think the QF is trying to be superior. Also it is shift work why would some people feel entitled to have every sunday off .
@@BrieanaYoung I just want to know your DOB to see if your the perfect age to become a flight attendant and if your a mum or not. Ik that if you're older than 30 you're more likely to be a mum and if you're younger than 30 then you're more likely not. This is why I ask for your DOB
Would love to see a video about the pros and cons of being a spouse to a flight attendant!
Noted!! Hahah, this would be a fun video to make! I’ll be curious to hear all of Braden’s answers haha!

Do you get breaks while flying to sleep or call family members? Free WiFi ?
It is dependent if you are doing international, usually on those flights you get to have a little break/sleep! :)
Hi Bri! do you get paid for standby from home or the airport?
To be honest I’m not 100% sure haha but I think Airport standby yes - standby from home no, but if we get called in it’s really good money 💰

I think every flight attendants goal is to work internationally- but I’m happy at domestic for now :)
Do you think VA will ever come back to operate flights in New Zealand?

Yes

i think for religious reasons having every sunday off is important to be able to connect with the community ect.
I’ve always wanted to apply but I’m 30 and, objectively speaking, not blessed with a pretty face. But it certainly appeals - I need a change.
Age is only a number, definitely not something to hold you back :)
I know VA cc level 1 is and was low .
How did you decide to be a flight attendant
I work overseas and loved the travel and tourism industry so wanted to become a FA
Hi Brianna young
