RPCS3 - Patches Majorly Improve Graphics & Perf in Killzone 3, God of War 3 + Ascension & more!
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 4 июл 2024
- The RPCS3 community has been hard at work creating new patches, and we've created a new patch manager to help easily download and use them. Resolution scaling of up to 10k is now possible in God of War 3, God of War: Ascension, Killzone 3, Sly Cooper Thieves in Time and more thanks to these patches. This was made possible by disabling MLAA (Morphological Anti-Aliasing), which also greatly improved performance in many titles as shown in the video.
High frame-rates in many titles which were previously locked to 30FPS is also now possible thanks to community patches, some patches even allow for completely uncapped frame-rates! Other patch highlights include being able to disable Motion Blur, increase FOV, skip intro scenes, disable HUD elements and much more.
We want to give a huge thanks to Megamouse for creating the new Patch Manager. HerrHulaHoop for maintaining our wiki where the patches are located, Ani for creating the api to download patches from the wiki. illusion, ZEROx and Whatcookie for creating the patches seen in the video, and the community for creating other patches as well.
If you want to submit your own patches, or just wan to read more about how they work, you can check out our wiki page here: wiki.rpcs3.net/index.php?titl...

While patches may indeed be hacks, RPCS3's focus is always going to be accuracy. Rest assured that our developers are still working hard in that regard. To that end; patches downloaded through the patch manager are not allowed to circumvent emulator crashes/freezes. Those patches will remain on our wiki's canary page which people can only use by visiting that page manually. wiki.rpcs3.net/index.php?titl... Our goal here is to simply make it easier for the community to share and use patches.

So Technically ALL PS3 games are remastered by RPSC3 team 🤣✌️
Magic of PC. PS4 "couldn;t emulate" PS3, but PC can.
Łowca KureF uh this is running on extremely high end hardware ( even if not still high end for 2020 standarts ), a PS4 is like 300$
sony have all the code for ps3, if they want, they can make a very efficient emulator, rpcs3 is making reverse engineering to obtain that. so if sony dont do that is because they dont want
@@sbeveuwu yes and most ps4 games can't reach 60fps or increase their resolution (internal or otherwise)
@@cor.tenebrarum also ps5 can't emulate because of cell architecture on ps3 that's why is not easy. so we are lucky because we have RPCS3
Some day, you guys will make Sonic Unleashed fully playable on PC
I believe in you guys!
Keep the great work!
The entire RPCS3 dev team is gay?!?!?!
I say fnaf is pretty gay
lol dat typo
Gay wtff? Are u british or some shit like dat bruh? Lmao
Fuck! I'm stupid!
Honestly, I am lost for words on how impressive this is. The fact that right now you can play PS3 games all the way to 4K is impressive.
Can go up to 10k actually, but the GPU load is high. Most games can't handle it. 6-8k is a little more sane :D
@@RPCS3_emu Oh nice. I think while today's hardware can't run these games at those resolutions, I think in the future when we get much powerful hardware it will give us a reason to come back to these games.
@@RPCS3_emu Upscaling only affects the gpu?
@@heldafuq7651 yes
@@ethanortiz5249 Thought the cpu was handling the entire emulation process, it changes everything
This is why emulation is so important despite so many "purist" hating on it.
They hate on it because they are short sighted hell i was too but now i see the truth haha
Emulation was always about two things : video game preservation and improvements.
People hate emulation , Why ?
@@shafin3520some people link emulation to piracy. Others think that playing emulators ruins the experience of gameplay as you are not playing as the game was originally intended. The dumb ones are those thinking emulation is another excuse for PC users to tell them how PC is so much better than consoles. But those are people with lack of self confidence.
Seriously, the passage of time and half-assed remasters haven shown us how little these profit-motive driven companies care about the games they create. We've lost tons to time, and we'd lose even more without preservation enthusiasts doing this work. For example, I bet Paper Mario TTYD would've fallen off the face of the Earth without emulation allows countless people to play it without tracking down a Gamecube and a copy of the game. A game that, might I add, Nintendo will never fucking rerelease ever.
YEEEES A PATCH MANAGER FINALLY. I love that feature in CEMU and now I'll love it here
Where is the patch manager I can't find it
@@igornaimoli7321 Go to Manage, then Game Patches. Watch the end of the video, it shows where it is.
>No more 30fps lock in Resistance and HAZE
>Can now disable motion blur and bloom in some games
I love you guys!
Absolutely amazing progress RPCS3, I just wanna thank you all for the amazing work the whole RPCS3 team is doing, great job!
We should thank the Patrons as well, they help keep them going. Ive only just discovered this emulator though.
Motorstorm Pacific Rift looks terrific!!! Can't wait to try it on the new version.
Thanks guys
Playing MotorStorm Apocalypse in 4k blew me away, recommend trying the stage "Waves of Mutilation".

Awesome to see so many new additions!
Also awesome that the patches are Integrated into a menu now, really nice!
PS3 games in 4K look gorgeous. They have aged very well.
And is a good way for people that didn't own a PS3 like myself, I pretty much have no reason at all to buy a PS3
@@radiantansel202 Same here. Too expensive for third world countries like mine back then, too obsolete nowadays. These fellas are doing God´s work.
@@ferna2294 Yeah, same here, the things that I would like to play aside from what is nowadays being worked on RPCS3 is either already on a better version on PS4 (Gundam Extreme VS), is on the Vita (Portable experience for long third world countries trips), or is on my XBOX 360 or PC.
So, seing God of War games (The ones I care the most to at least try) running this well, makes absolute no reason to buy one now unleast very cheap (And I still prefer avoiding it).
@@radiantansel202 I bought one for $60 a few years ago with 3.55 firmware, which allowed me to upgrade to a modded REBUG firmware, aka free game ISOs from the internet. Still worth it, but RPCS3 is slowly getting to 4k60 and no game problems without my CPU burning at 100°C.

I'm starting to consider one for PS Move and Guncon 3 scenarios only, probably
Killzone 3 looking better than Halo Infinite.
I feel like better doesn't do it justice
Actually not even a joke right there. Killzone and God of War always amaze me.
Bro look at this, killzone 2 4k 60fps, not running in real time, but it's what it would look like if the emulation would be at 100% ruclips.net/video/J6CdQV2piGY/видео.html
Someone on top looked at the profits made from fortnite and told all the MS xbox studios to make their games look like that
It's the art style, Killzone aims for realism.
Halo games were more of a cartoony/plastic looks, nothing wrong with it though.
This emulator is phenomenal! I look forward for the majority of titles being playable and of course my favorite ps3 game being playable, lbp2
One day ps3 on cellphones, we are far off but im certain it will happen. How long do you think 15-20 years?
@@BentDoorFrame 20 years
@@BentDoorFrame maybe 15 or less because I already got gamecube games running on my phone
@@the_fluffinator im trying to remember when the 1st ps1 emulator was playable on android, we were getting playable GC emulation like last year maybe? More resolution AND better framerates!
That's awesome stuff, right there :D
Watching this video knowing i wont run it on my potato pc. Still happy for the effort
Same here, but maybe one day we can play it. The positive is that we will have an increasingly perfected emulator.

i love these improvements yall make so quickly, especially during a pandemic! it looks like i might be able to play fight night round 3 sooner than later.....
The Virgin sony with no Backwards compatibility and 95$ games VS the Chad RPCS3 team that gives you the chance to play ps3 games at the best quality possible.
They're $109 in Australia, Demons souls is priced at $124 on Jbhifis website
@@Anex952 so in otherwords you buy 3 games and you are almost at the ps4s release price in australia, just wow.
@Lul KD 10 years ago this wouldn't be possible at all
You say that is if anyone is caring about playing upscaled ps3 games in 2020. Pretty sure people are more excited to play demon souls remake and all the new releases coming
As someone who has like 4 modded consoles for playing emulators I couldn't care less about backwards compatibility, easy work around for that
MLAA can now disabled, allowing for the use of Resolution Scaling
DEATH TO THE MPLAA!!!
Awesome on the patch manager, thanks megamouse and HerrHulaHoop!
I played around with Citra recently for a bit and I'm really impressed by how nice those 3D games still look when upscaled to 1080p.
That said, I can tell just how amazing the progress is you guys do for RPCS3.
Keep rolling!
Me a motorstorm fan: Finally some good fucking news
It's so interesting to me that motorstorm pacific rift uses resolution scaling dynamically. All games use it today but I can't think of any other game back then using it. A bonus disabling it is that the depth buffer stays in place now, allowing for raytracing through reshade and other effects
AWESOME This dev-team is amazing
Amazing work ,with the patch manager!! Thank you guys.
Unbelievable!
Seriously, great work guys!!
This Emulator really came a long way, I remember a few years back the headaches of trying to get this emulator to work now I'm running God Of War perfectly. I'm strictly a pc gamer but GoW is the only thing I need from PlayStation. Keep up the great work guys and not to sound selfish, but mainly focus on God of war 🤣✌️
Got to love 7th Gen, high quality assets all running at subpar resolutions and performance
Now said assets are downgraded to either increase performance or to cheap out on Open World games
Awesome work guys!
Nice inprovement!!! Thank you for the hard work.
they could make a server for the god of war ascension. I love god of Ascension
yep
I called it a few years ago, I said by 2020 there will be great performing last gen (360/PS3) emulators. I can just tell that emulation is gonna take off more within the next few years. Great job guys!
Can't wait for a PS4 emulator as well maintained as RPCS3 today!
You guys are doing great and excellent work keep it up.you have done big progress in short time ,good work
Incredible, my gob is most well and truly (still) smacked!.. I haven't sampled RPCS3 yet but plan to as soon as I've completed a current rig upgrade I've been saving for, keep up the fantastic work please folk.
Me: should i upgrade or wait for rpcs3 to get better
My i3 8100: a little bit more
you can beat a bunch of games with that cpu at full speed.
Me with my i5 2400
That i3 isn't that bad, at least it isn't a 1st gen i3 like I was using lol.
@@andressantamaria5329 yeah, i am actually gonna keep this setup (i3 8100 + 1060 3gb) for like 2-3 more years. because of my monitor being 768p, new and bad port like horizon zero dawn also runs at stable 60fps even on heavy area on low settings (i don't mind low settings, just need 60fps)
my i5 4690k: yeah give it a minute
God, Killzone in 4k is gold!
Nice! 👍Appreciate the time and effort you guys are putting in. Keep up the great work guys❤️❤️
Perfect work. I love you guys!
This is amazing. The games industry is at such a joke state today, with games being formulaic rehashes of previous concepts (that were already done better), soulless cashgrabs, uninspired themes and visuals and so on. Every single RPCS3 update is a breath of fresh air and this one is just insane, they basically just remastered a bunch of PS3 games.
Nice! But what about Armored Core?
I see you have it there in the game list that part about interface changes. Does that mean the next fully playable title be it? Please! And network support as well. That the whole point!
What an incredible job, kudos!
Awesome work everybody! This is fantastic.
My hopes for a decent looking and playing the Darkness 1 on this emu are increasing. PLEASE MAKE THE DARKNESS 1 HAPPEN!!
@Asspop87 But that Darkness 1 isn’t on PC...
Please try to look into The Darkness if at all possible.
They work on the emulator not specific games
@@SahilPawar95 I'm aware of that I more so meant to try showcasing it more.
THIS.
If by miracle we have the game running smoothly (60 fps) on a good resolution. I'll die happy :D.
@@Ssecave it's literally the only other game outside of GOW I want to play. Such an underrated classic.
One of the best last gen titles honestly.
OH MY GOD YEEESSS. Amazing work with the patches and the patch manager!
Huge thanks to the devs and patreon donators, you guys are breathtaking.
0:20 "this game can now be played in 4k"
My dual core computer: Impossible
they still nightmare to play...
If Sony adopted MS stance on backwards compatibility, this is what we'd be getting smh. The RPSC3 team has done a great job with these.
I hope that Microsoft will fuck Sony up so badly this gen that Sony will eventually have to cave in and work harder on that backward compatibility.
The problem is not that sony doesn't want backwards compatible games.
The problem is that it's literally impossible to have that without the machine end up costing around 800 bucks.
The architecture used for the PS3 is way different from the one used for PS4 and PS5 and it's not cheap to produce.
They've essentially backed themselves in a corner.
While microsoft has been using pretty much chips with similar architecture of a PC since the beginning, thus making it easier to run games from older generationd
Insane improvements. The Manager section is convinience pure. Thanks for all the Devs and Patch Maker.
Simply fantastic, I can hardly help them with money. What a good job you guys have done.
I wish Ninja Gaiden3:Razors Edge can being full playable 😭
you can play it on the cemu emulator in 60fps
@@matteoziegler7632 Yeah thanks, you are right, but I have spent a lot of internet quota to download games, and it turns out that the status is still ingame. How stupid I did not check the compatibility first 😭
"patch manager" HYPE HYPE HYPE HYPE
Great job guys!
Amazing improvements👏👏
This emulator show how powerful the PlayStation 3 was, and the games aged very well! Sony don't make backwards compatibility because they don't want. They have all original code from the PS3, they could made a amazing emulator for PS4 and PS5, because both consoles use PC architecture...
RPCS3 people are reverse engineering the ps3 and made efficient emulator for PC until now...
Actually is not because they "dont want" at least in ps4. The ps4/pro couldn't emulate this even if they wanted to. The Cell processor emulation its what makes this so hard to develop for(1 PPE and 8 SPEs on Cell processor). The PS5 maybe could had emulate ps3, but the cost of developing an emulator and also licencing is really high, so they could lose money on that. PS2 and PS1 is possible, i suppose is not there only due to licensing issues.
Why would they lose money on the Cell emulation of the PS5 ? It's running an ITX to be honest and that too a custom tailored SoC which has direct GDDR6 access for RAM and VRAM and the Ryzen in there is a 3700 downclocked. Sony wants PSN money simple reason and they never gave a fuck about backwards compatibility, and IBM is in shambles why wouldn't they even make a new Cell on TSMC for Sony ? It's all possible.
Xbox can go and die in a fire, all of it's games are there on PS3 and PC, many exclusives are there on PS3 only which is why RPCS3 is the best thing ever happened. And the IP owner has licensing issues ? How is that even possible man. Sony is garbage anyways, they put that new Dad of Soy as some joke GoW reboot with b.s story, and crappy bosses, I finished it and it was a garbage game that shouldn't even be called as God of War. Even PPSSPP Chains of Olympus beats that garbage to hell. The age of Chad games is over, they want to appease soyboys that's why that HZD was overrated to moon and hyped up as something extraordinary, it's a crap ghey game made for newbies.
ALX there are shortages of “silicon” space, so silicon allocation in factories is expensive, that’s why there are shortages across the board on manufacturing(GPU/CPU). Making a cell would cost the same as making a ryzen processor, also reducing transistor size is not that simple as making them smaller, when you reduce the size, there are changes in voltage and is harder to go up in clock speeds. And they can’t do a cell processor in higher nanometers because it would generate a lot of heat for a the system itself. To do a backwards compatible ps3 console, the only option for now is to emulate an it would cost a lot of money, so the console would go up in price and they want to make the cheapest console possible, to not be in the same spot as in 2006/2007 when the ps3 had a ps2 CPU/GPU, had heat problems and also expensive (499/599 in ps3 vs 299/399 on Xbox 360, and 249 for Nintendo wii) compared to the competition while also loosing 307 usd for every console sold, this also was shown in the ps4 presentation were the ps4 was 100 usd cheaper and people chosen to bought ps4 at the time for the cheaper price and also other things, but mostly price, then years later they would buy ps4 for exclusives and that’s how Sony won that generation of consoles. Also if they wanted to throw more money, they would use greater Hardware. Sony is not in a position to "gamble" as it was in the year 2006 with a great market share in Cellphones, notebooks, consoles, etc.
It had shitty graphics. Same as 360. It wasn't a good console.
@@xysm5224 Good Graphics doesn't mean that a console is good, for example Nintendo switch/ds.
The reason I won't get a console literally only is the framerate. I remember getting ill trying to play Fallout on console, insanely low fov and like 15-20 fps got a headache every time I tried to pick it up.
i still play on console but i can understand. never could finish far cry 3 cause of literal 15 to 20 fps. i had headaches everytime
Outstanding work. Thank you so much.
You guys are AWESOME!
Interesting, unfortunately disabling some of the options, you remove the original artistic vision such as the Shadow of Colossus gloom effect....
Hope you guys doesn't overfocus on these hacks.
The bloom was disabled by a patch specifically created to disable bloom because people didn't like it. It's up to you if you use it or not. The patch for Shadow of the Colossus that improves performance is a separate MLAA patch.
@Chandon G Your reply doesn't make sense. It's not a compromise, there's a patch to disable Bloom that can be enabled or disabled. If you like bloom, keep it on, if you don't like it then disable it. It doesn't affect performance.
The patch that affects performance is the one that disables MLAA (Morphological Anti-Aliasing). You could argue it's against creators intent to disable this, but it's also an optional patch made by the community. And RPCS3 already supports downsampling which is better than MLAA as an anti-aliasing method anyway. And forcing MSAA in games will also be possible through RPCS3 eventually.
Imagine if these guys worked with the PCSx2 team.
Pcsx2 is doing fine dw. We need them here, on RPCS3.
pcxs2 controller tripping
@@devong1838 well yes but actually Pcsx2 have a terrible setting sistem and each game needs it's own settings to works, and u cant configure each setting for each game, every time you want to play a different game you have to fix settings; it's good at emulate but has a terrible UI
@@4324swer are you using 1.6.0? Because it's great and yeah the settings are spread out but really not an issue. Like you said it emulates great. So seems like a minor UI issue not something youd want the leading minds of RPCS3 to divert energy towards.
