    Wow, thank you for this! The Chevrolet dealership quoted me $200 for diagnostics and $1200 for parts and labor. I was also told that I had to leave it there for a week.

      You’re welcome! I use RUclips to learn how to do repairs as well, so I make these videos the way I would want to view them. Short and sweet with clear instructions. I have music to prevent awkward silences but I keep it low so that it’s not intrusive lol!

    Great video much appreciated! I have a question do you disconnect the battery first?

    • @WorkingWithWimberley
      @WorkingWithWimberley  3 года назад +1

      Yes, you should disconnect the negative side of the battery before removing the alternator. I didn’t show that part unfortunately. And you’re welcome! I’m glad the video helped!

    I have been a mechanic for 25 years, so please correct me if I am wrong, but aren't you suppose to disconnect the battery before making this repair?

    • @WorkingWithWimberley
      @WorkingWithWimberley  5 лет назад

      Yes, I probably should’ve. It would’ve been safer to do it with the battery disconnected. Thanks for the feedback!

    Did you do this with the battery connected??

    • @WorkingWithWimberley
      @WorkingWithWimberley  2 года назад

      Yes I did and that was a mistake. You should disconnect the battery first.

    • @joek7999
      @joek7999 2 года назад +1

      Ok cool, but one maybe 2 more questions... will the disconnect affect any computer or any other settings in the vehicle? If so what do you do to avoid that situation?

    • @WorkingWithWimberley
      @WorkingWithWimberley  2 года назад +1

      @@joek7999 I’ve been working on cars for over 20 years and I’ve never had anything bad happen after disconnecting or replacing a battery. The only notable thing is that if it’s left disconnected for long enough (hours), you may lose your saved radio presets. There’s something called a “memory saver” that’s out now. I’ve never used one, but here’s a video of it. ruclips.net/video/wb3Dq4NM3QY/видео.html

    • @WorkingWithWimberley

      I don’t know. It’s the factory alternator. It was already on the car when I purchased it.
