    does this mat not fit in a bucket?... hope you didn't lose material there trying to dip in the pan..

    • @GoldRatEngineering
      @GoldRatEngineering  8 лет назад +1

      +Shawn Doyle hey Shawn sure does fit in a bucket, the gold gets concentarted into the cells unlike a normal mat theres n fear of loss mate. very easy to clean out.

    • @TheBluesine
      @TheBluesine 7 лет назад

      You really should of used a bucket I think is the point Shawn is making..

    • @GoldRatEngineering
      @GoldRatEngineering  7 лет назад

      yes it does but there's no need, the gold is concentrated in the holding cells.

    Great job but Don have enough pitch on the back end, your sluice should clean out a bit faster, but over all great job👍

    What happens when the little holes fill up with heavies?

    • @GoldRatEngineering
      @GoldRatEngineering  5 лет назад

      They always fill up with whatever is the heaviest in the feed. Because the cells are constantly in exchange they swap out heavy for heavier and remain fluid. So what happens... your gold goes to the bottom

      @@GoldRatEngineering Unless a round flat stone clogs the hole, that why I use a pointed chinese chopstick to blow it away.

      @@safuttias round stones should classify themselves out if serup right. But by all means use chopsticks if a cell jams haha

      @@GoldRatEngineering Is a problem that arise not so frequently, it's more me that feel Like a compulsory ossessive in the urge of free the cell, unfortunately at today i have made only 4 visit to my favorite creek, when the sluice arrived, i have to go in China for work in decembre, near Whuan... Then the pandemic hit hard in my region, Lombardia,now the lockdown Is almost at the end, i Hope to dig holes to feed the sluice this weekend.I miss the relaxing noise a of the River around me.

    check the tailings see what your missing if your not great but if you are and you wanna try something new try the vortex matting see if you have a greater catch rate I know I did when I switched but that's just me

      @GoldRatEngineering  7 лет назад

      thehellfireclan59 hey mate ive used vortex matting its not engineeres for mineral separation its good adaptive technology but nowhere near as effective as dream mat. of course i test my tailings

      Gold Rat Highbankers actually viewing on the apple iPad I could see just fine and you picked a nice area. Oh and just saying maybe tip it up half inch or so the water isn’t running so fast over it but just enough for it to more or less shift the sand and dirt fast but gently enough that you get more product. Just idea

    one question i have with dream mats vs V mats has anyone set up the 2 side by side with same water and same weighed gold same sizes varying and compared any loss between them ?

    • @GoldRatEngineering
      @GoldRatEngineering  7 лет назад

      Tim Ellison hey Tim mate theres no contest your welcome to do it. I used to run vribb for sand deposits in ballarat. Nice long sluice witt heaps of vribb. Vribb works really good for alot of gold but it fails miserably with some gold. Namely flat round gold that gains momentum and tumbles out, reefy wire gold that flip flops from ribb to ribb. I used to run a cleanup sustem and i used vribb up top to pull down about 70 % of fine and chunky gold on the first pass. The other 30 percent would be laboriously panned out later. Rubber has a problem with oxidizing too which causes air bubbles to hang up so when you first run your vribb you need to brush each section to remove air. When comparing to dream mat which is urethane which does not leach or create air we don't have that problem. When you look at how these two recovery systems function we are looking at completely different beasts. Dream mat pulls dowm the lowest water profile splits it into 2 inch processing cells and only holds the heaviest of minerals to its capacity. The next row pulls down the upper water profile and so on so the mat is always pulling down and only casting lights back up when theres more heavier material in the cells. Long amd short of it is one is designed for mineral separation and one to reduce slipping on the floor iin commercial kitchens while wicking away water.

      with my sluice i used v mat and miners moss with riffels and never lost a thing ! tested ,if your comparing just v matt to this then not it's not valid for many reason ,not doubting till i use the dream matt but you did avoid a simple question ,either the test was done or not .

    • @GoldRatEngineering
      @GoldRatEngineering  7 лет назад +1

      i hardly avoided your question Tim, i answered in great detail. if you're not happy with that i'm sorry i cant help you. Really never lost a thing? losses are a real part of prospecting when you can admit that you cna start to learn objectively. You cant test your losses effectively until you run a better system after your existing system. sticking a pan at the end of your slcuie does little to bugger all for catching fine gold.

    • @timellison9015

      i just asked if anyone had done the test i mentioned to be accurate m8 that was all .

    • @timellison9015
      @timellison9015 7 лет назад

      no need to insult over loss either i would have been in the high recovery of course and fine gold i did do tests and recovered it all so a few % is normal i know as setups don't get all ,no need to be a smart ass .

  • @rodkirt9273

    Sorry Mate but, shouldn’t you be running your Matt in the other direction? I thought the high part should be first so that vortexes would form behind it to ketch the gold ?
