I just got one of those 6in mats can't wait to build the box for it. I'll let you know when it's done cuz I'll be posting a video of using it on some of our rivers around here. I love the hopper you guys created for that.
Hi GRH, Thanks for showing this demo. I've just purchased one of your Gold Rat through Blake of Blue dog prospecting. Can't wait to test it out after it arrives this week. Dennis
How do you get the slick of the matt have washed it twice in boiling water and soap powder dam think is slick soon as its in water not even black sand is holding, I have 888 backpacker new from Lucky strike
HI John, dont boil it just follow the instructions, use liquid dish soap not soap powder. dish soap is acidic and breaks down the silicone mold release. if you aren't holding black sand you must be running the thing so steep or with not enough water. vortex is driven by water keep 3/4 inch of water over the mat at all times. its job is not to hold black sand by the way it will hold the heaviest mineral in the mat and force that to the holding cells "the little circles" everything else will be washed out. if you're having trouble call me. my number is on the information sheet you got with your sluice
John i should add the surface is slick it will not rough up its urethane cast shiny. Just incase you are trying to knock the sheen off it its supposed to be slippery
Lucky strike said hot water soap powder give it good rub or it wont trap gold lol will try again next trip like said 6in pan got more gold than mat for me but hard plastic sluice was fine next to it. Thanks
@@sikasafari run at 8.5 degrees mate with depth of water youll be fine. Over 10,000 units sold world wide most popular profile with miners. Its good stuff mate
Hi Dustin, I have just bought a mini sluice with the dream mat for my Dad to play with, and a question he had was how much material can be processed until a clean up would be required? I imagine 20L buckets will feature heavily in his operations so for example would you recommend running half a bucket/ 1 bucket/ 2 buckets or more through? Any advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated he is excited to get out there and find some glitter! haha. Thanks mate
So sorry i didnt see this comment till now. You can run until the cells become static but if you stop feeding you should see the cells clear and dance around. You probably know what i mean by now its been 11 months
I have noticed that with the dream mat in 8 inch and above , the cells are all at the same level , but with the minimat 6 inch mat , the cells are at alternate heights , a row level followed by High , then low then high Any reason why this is done , and is there a minimat version with all cells at the same level ?
yes there are lots of reasons why we have multiple variations in cell designs you can view the various cells here highbanker.com.au/collections/vortex-dream-sluice-mat
@@GoldRatEngineering Yeah seen that - I wanted a 6 inch where all the cells are at the same level but you aint got it nvm - the one i got will have to do
HI Bear great question! one scenario is i'm out bush ive got a my pan my sieve shovel and buckets andf decide to take some material home. I'll submerce my pan in the water and sieve into the pan then dump the pan into a bucket and thats it. when i get home i can run this material in te standard cleanup sluice configuration having been processed already and the gold should be liberated. in another scenario i take my backpack a bilge and and pan into the bush and want to use the spray bars to clean the dirt and liberate the gold for me and not use a sieve, i can easily move the oversize rocks with my hands and run as a little banker in the field. Additionally if i collected some rocks and want to crush them with a dolly or rocks crusher i want the dry material to get wet before exposing it to the capture system so again i use the spray bars for this purpose.,
They both catch fines equally but each profile has its own advantages for certain material .for example the mini is awesome for crushed rock and gems whereas the open cell is better suited to no classification
I just bought their 6 inch sluice and made my own adjustable legs for less than $20. I took four sliding window locks and drilled 5/16" holes centered through the top. I then drilled two 3/16" holes in each of the side of the locks and mounting location. After that I bought two 36" zinc coated rods and cut them in half for the legs. Cheap, lightweight, and looks and works great!
Should had a trap or something or you loose gold, was a lot of gold in the letters at the end of the mat. may make some angels to slow down the water might help
@@GoldRatEngineering The ratio between caught and lost is the test. All good if you caught half a gram , but not so much if an equal amount went back into the creek through the sluice
@@GoldRatEngineering regardless - I purchsed mini dream mat 6 inch and am filtering down to quarter inc and use a 1100 pump - is the 9.5 degrees applicable for me ?
Best ever investment. Love my mini.
Great job, Dustin 👏 .
I can appreciate the leg kit better in this video, but I also appreciate that you give the DIY ideas too.

Not sure what you mean exactly but the writing is at the very start of the mat not the end. Theres over 100 holding cells in this mat
Unless you test your tailings , you have performed no test at all
Whats your point exactly
