    The Chevrolet Cruze is a compact car that has been made by the Chevrolet division of General Motors since 2008. The nameplate has been used previously in Japan, for a version of a subcompact hatchback car produced under a joint venture with Suzuki from 2001 to 2007, and was based on the Suzuki Ignis.
    Since 2009, the Cruze nameplate has designated a globally developed, designed, and manufactured four-door compact sedan-complemented by a five-door hatchback body variant (in 2010 it also replaced the Chevrolet Cobalt)[1] from 2011, and a station wagon in 2012. The Cruze was actually released earlier in 2008 to the South Korean market under the name Daewoo Lacetti Premiere until the phasing out of the Daewoo brand in favor of Chevrolet in 2011. In Australia, the model has been on sale since 2009 as the Holden Cruze. This new generation Cruze does not serve as a replacement for the Suzuki-derived Japanese market predecessor. Instead, it replaces three other compact models: the Chevrolet Optra sold internationally under various names (such as the Suzuki Forenza in North America, Chevrolet Optra in Latin America, Chevrolet/Daewoo Lacetti in Europe and Asia), the Chevrolet Cobalt, sold exclusively in North America, and the Opel-sourced, Australia-market Holden Cruze (later returning in 2012 briefly as an Opel until the next year, and again in 2015 as a Holden).
    Production of the Cruze in the United States and Mexico ended in 2019, while the car is still produced and sold in other markets worldwide.
    The second-generation Cruze began sales in North America in early 2016,[125] delayed a year by engineering changes.[126] The Cruze has a new external design with a new split grille front and a fastback-like sloping roofline from the Chinese version of the fastback. This second generation Cruze has a slightly longer length and wheelbase than the one designed for the Chinese market, with different styling cues. It is also powered by the 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 153 hp (114 kW) and 177 lb⋅ft (240 N⋅m) torque.
    The 2016 Cruze comes equipped with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto Capability features. However, only one of their phone brands at any one time can be used.[127][128]
    In January 2016, Chevrolet unveiled the five-door hatchback version of the North American Cruze at the North American International Auto Show. It went on sale in late 2016 as a 2017 model.[129][130]
    Trim levels continue to be L, LS, LT (now combined into one trim level, as opposed to the previous 1LT and 2LT designations), and Premier (replacing the previous LTZ trim level as the top-of-the-line Cruze trim level). Discontinued are the Eco and Diesel trim levels (at least for the time being).
    All trim levels include a seven-inch MyLink touch-screen infotainment system with A/M-F/M radio, USB integration, a 3.5-millimeter auxiliary audio input jack, optional SiriusXM satellite radio, voice control, and CarPlay and Android Auto capabilities, keyless entry, power windows, power door locks, OnStar with 4G/LTE/Wi-Fi Hotspot connectivity for multiple devices and RemoteLink via an app on the consumer's smartphone, air conditioning, and a 1.4-liter EcoTec inline-four engine. The 2x on the hood release means you need to pull the latch twice to open the hood. You only pulled it once and that’s why you couldn’t open it.

    He literally compared this car to an aston martin, he couldn't open the hood nor figure out why you cant open it when the door is closed. Its a safety feature bc if you pull that twice going down the road itll fly open and possibly cause your death and others, but you make a good point about a engine bay fire and the driver door not opening but the hood release handle isnt made of metal its plastic and with little strength it can be pulled hard enough to open the hood in an emergency. IMO i think your jealous of how good it actually does look compared to the older models. They improved its look to compete for sales against other domestic and foriegn cars not to compete with its older model. Designers take pride in every car created.

    • @dotwithshoesofficial
      @dotwithshoesofficial 4 года назад +2

      In the event of an engine fire, you don't want to pop the hood in any event. It's dangerous to do so.

  • @travelandmoore

    I own a 2018 Cruze Diesel, automatic, fully loaded, 57k miles. Steering feels darty, but is easy to adapt to. Car always tracks straight & steady down the road, but it does feel sensitive to inputs when you just touch the steering wheel. The car leans a bit too much in turns. I think there's excessive road noise on rough pavement, & the ride is a bit stiff. On smooth roads, the ride is super quiet & steady - feels solid. I find the brake pedal too close to the accelerator. I wear size 11 shoes various widths, and the 'big toe' rubs the brake pedal while I have my foot on the accelerator - unless I place my foot almost vertical on the accelerator. The Bose stereo sounds pretty good, but I expected more from Bose. I like the styling & space inside. Leather interior, so leather on dash also looks nice. But the biggest plus is the FUEL ECONOMY, which is why I bought the diesel. The engine is refined and 'cruzes' quietly at 80 at about 2100 rpm with a satisfying low hum from the diesel. I get about 60 mpg at 65 mph. At 75, I average about 52 mpg. Ice cold a/c, and at 5'10" I think the driving position is nice & comfy. Overall a good car, especially for the money and economy.

    Your review is absolutely the best. I enjoyed your rant about the good and bad of little details of every angle. I own an 18 Hatchback LT auto. I have now 37k miles. Bought it new. Only issue I had was a bad injector at 17k miles.

    I couldn't get past the design of the interior and those rear wheel wells you mentioned. I wanted to like it and stick with GM but decided to abandon GM altogether. I bought the 2019 Ka Forte EX. Way better design and styling inside and out.

    Lmao you can get different options on these cruxes that match your needs, so don’t get if it’s not right for you. Everything he mentioned Chevy offers on other trims and packages. Also for his lack of knowledge with the hood and other things lol. I’m gonna stop here
