      Its not a old route. The West Highland way is the better route, but if you want peace and quiet this is the route for you. We needed a route that would take us back to Fort William and our car after completing the great glen way. We are so happy we did it.

    I have watched another video walk of yours and have to say you two are becoming seasoned walkers and videographers. I liked the segments where you showed us your day's walk on the map. It gives any potential walker a much better idea of the route. A few years ago I walked The Speyside Way from Aviemore to Buckie. It's a developed trail and well way marked so it was a lot easier to navigate. I think we could all agree that the East Highland is a work in progress. Well Done!

    Good video. I did the Speyside Way at the end of September (and have just started posting the videos) and was looking to see what to do next. The East Highland Way, which I'd never heard of, seems to be the logical choice and looks to be a lot more interesting than the Speyside Way. Thanks for introducing it.

      @GETtwoIT  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching! The EHW is great to add onto the Great Glenn Way - you can walk from and back to Fort William (via a short train ride).

    • @oldcodgerwithacamera
      @oldcodgerwithacamera 2 года назад +1

      @@GETtwoIT Personally I found The Speyside Way a little boring. I guess it depends on your expectations but most of my walking has been in the Lakes and I am used to decent scenery. All of the mountains disappear north of Aviemore and there are very few times when you get a view. A lot of it is forest walking and, for me, there was far too much road walking. Some interesting stuff for sure like the old railway stations but long sections on the railway are pretty much the same all day. It's not a bad walk but I'm sure there are a lot better.

    I’m planning to walk the East Highland Way in May or June this year, depending on COVID regulations. The plan is to walk south to north over 6 days. No wild camping for me I’m afraid, at 70+ those days are long gone. We plan to continue from Aviemore along the Speyside Way to Buckie. After your experience I’m thinking of investing in a midge hood.

    • @GETtwoIT

      Let's hope that you can get out on the EHW for when you planned. Yeah, the midge hood was well worth it. Don't make the mistake we made getting a mosquito net hood...the midges got in because the holes were too big!

      @@GETtwoIT We were planning on walking Hadrian's Wall this year, but obviously everything happened and messed that up. Now we're hoping we might be able to do it next year, or maybe even the Great Glen Way! Taking two weeks off this Christmas, so we're hoping to test out our new bags on some longer walks. Thanks for the videos that inspired us to break our kit out and start getting ready!

    How do you find the Harvey Maps versus Ordnace Survey??

      The map we had was specific to the EHW and was ideal for what we needed. It was also waterproof which was a bonus!

      I mean is it exposed enough for wind ?

      The midges can be bad if there's no wind. I think both trails can be both bad for them depending on what time of year you go.

      Thanks for watching, Sorry about the late reply. We are using the ZV1 camera with a M2 crane. Still learning ropes with it. Used to use the OSMO pocket.
