I just turned 25,no criminal record, never been arrested or did anything against the law. I’ve just been thinking about joining the military to fix my financial situation. I live with my mom at the moment and I work for a military chow hall. I feel the military can benefit me and I could benefit it. My dad was military so I know somewhat of what to expect.
It was my savior. I’m about to get out now, but in one enlistment I finished my associates, most of my bachelors (all under TA, haven’t even touched my GI Bill yet), and got hella certificates which matter bc I’m an airwinger. It gave me skills and confidence as well. I stayed in shape, performed well at my job, had a positive attitude, and here I am now. It’s treats you the way you treat it
I completely agree. It’s definitely a calling. Not sure if it happens anymore but used to when someone would get in trouble with the law a judge would tell them to join military or go to jail. Not saying the life wouldn’t turn them around but maybe they should serve their jail time. Not be in a situation people are relying on them and their lives are in their hands.
As a retired Marine myself. I feel you are 100,000,000% correct on all accounts. A person has to want it in their heart and not in their head to become a United States Marine, barring too many stupid lifes decisions to the contrary.......🤔
@@AONIXO thanks for reaching out sir, I appreciate the feed back. I hope to join this summer or fall. Turn 26 tomorrow, just wanna change my life, and become a better man fr. Have a good day sir
Got dropped from bootcamp a couple of weeks ago Made it until t7, caught a dui the same night I left to the hotel , I stayed quiet . Obviously u can’t missed court and be at bootcamp at the same time . Shit I found out 😂😭 Now I need waivers to come try again .
I wanted to be a Marine since I was 6. When I was in my first meeting with a recruiter, a dude covered in head to toe tattoos and smelling a crazy strong odor of weed came in asking how to join. My recruiter just said no and told him to leave.
Lmfao yea it really is funny. A person could be tough as nails and have all forms of their executive function and control figured out. They could be ripped and cut, still decline high people, shits so fucking funny
SSgt, make a video on lat moving? I been watching you for a grip. Like😗 before I joined to the Marines(2020ish) I’m a Cpl now pinning on Sgt. I was putting my Re-enlistment package a bit earlier due to me being on the CRP for FY24. However, HQ has had asked me to Lat move to 4421….(Legal Specialist)
Shidddddd It was my savior! I always wanted to join. Never wanted to do school. Yes, i came out super fucked up. But im 30 and set for life while being 100% Service Connected and medically retired. But those you're speaking about? Absolutely. Those wanna be thugs then try to change up? No. Thennnnn when they get in, they do some dumb shitt and get kicked out with under honorable discharges😭

Age 31, looking to join Air National Guard but need medical waiver. I make a very good salary for a single male but serving has always been on my heart since I was a sophomore in HS. Glad I went through life first which taught me how to maintain composure, work under pressure, and keep my emotions under control. I'm ready! I can't wait! I appreciate the content, thank you! 🤙🏿
I’m 30 and just direct commissioned into the Army’s Cyber Corps back in September, incredibly turbulent ride in my early 20’s, but I wanted to change, no one can change for you, I endorse this message 1000%, keep speaking that truth, SSgt.
Just make sure, when u join, pick the job u want to do. It is a career, so u can’t just quit n do another job. So if u want to make it a career, make sure u pick a job that ur down to do long term.
Theres a channel jake swieg he talks about some stuff i dont hesr others talk about when it comes to the military. He interviewed one guy and he said a line that stuck with me, he said i cant think of one good reason why i gave the army 4 years of my life. I wanted to join marines as infantry when i was younger im 34 now and eyeballing the guard as 68 w.
30? I would neverrrrr😂😂😂😂 Did my time at 20. I couldn't imagine going thru basic and shitt at 30. Maaaaaane fuck no. Good luck tho!!!! God Speed my brother! Wish you the best
When I was at SOI we had a group of ex-drug dealers (so they claimed) slinging dip the first week (we weren't given Px privileges/libo until halfway through and nicotine was secured during the poi). One got adsepped, one sepped OTH, and one currently in the brig for unrelated events in the future of their short lived careers. Marine Corps doesn't change you if you don't want to change. I've made my own mistakes before and during my service, but unless you put in the work your life will not get better.
The military and being forward deployed saved me in some ways and destroyed me in others. Still wouldn't trade my time in or friends for all the tea in China.
I think the reason behind the stigma is that most veterans when they get out don't seem to do anything with their lives, lots of drug addiction, in and out of jail, don't work, broke, angry, violent. I know someone who went and did Marine Intel and when done went straight to Washington DC areas to work for the NSA.
Good Day SSGT Patterson, Joined at 27 and made it Sir. Then medically discharged for hernias. Medical couldn't constantly fix them, kept tearing my mesh. Hurts like a mofo. I dont care about my meshes i want to be along side with them. Last i spoke to Major said I can re-enlist with an able body. ( I cant swap brains ) I dont want to join other branches. Marine Corps is where my heart is at.
Lol, RS Detroit from 05-08. Holy f*ck, talk about a train of unqualified applicants with these exact same life stories. I'm talking metro Detroit, not those gravy trains like RSS Howell, Ypsi and the like.
Staff Sargeant, why do you talk to everyone in this manner? Everyone I talk to still in the service even those associated in a civilian capacity say military readiness across the board is in the worst shape they can remember. If you're wondering why I left, I developed epilepsy and had my first documented seizure on deployment at Al Udied with VP-8. Matthew Barnebey, USN, LS2 (AW), 2005-2012

Most people have nothing and no help from family so the military is a good decision when tryna get on your feet
Recruiter here in kentucky said I can still join with a misdemeanor i had 2 years ago
Yes you can! Not saying you can’t it’s the felonies that get people

@@militaryliferoxanne I’m soo serious 💯
@bengalibaddie420 well good luck! It's an amazing experience!!!!
Well said, an issue you’ll run into with this is a clearance if they want a job that required it, among other things. It is what it is.

When I was assigned at LA MEPs I use to see a lot of Wavers get denied because of people not handling their business. Smh
