"Few years ago"? What year are you living? You never think about inflation, material cost up, labor cost up, etc.? LOL. Yeah keep living in the past, old man.
“$1,000 more” is misleading. I own this RAV4 and it depends on the trim, NOT on the drivetrain. If you have the same trim (good luck finding the exact trim on both versions at the same dealer) then maybe…
I have been shopping for a Rav4 XSE hybrid. If I include option package #3 the price reaches $44k. With California taxes and other fees the price goes to $48k. A very expensive car.
The used car market is insane too. A lot of used cars are still costing close to what they cost new. The most economical long term decision is to get a new compact sedan or maybe even a mid size. Corolla, Civic, Elantra, Forte, K4, Maxda3, etc are all reasonably priced. A lot of the crossovers carry a higher premium to have a car that handles worse and is essentially just a tall compact car
As of 5th May 2024 in Virginia. Hybrid XLE cost you more 2500 than ic XLE and after tax and finance charges it will cost you 3500. To reach break even it will take approx 8 years considering avg gas price of 3.50/ gallon. You will save approx 3 cents per mile. Based on above data, you need to drive 120k miles to reach break even.
True. Even a car that gets 20-25 mpg, it will take the average person years to see the benefit of a hybrid and the insurance costs may be more too. It's a cool concept but it's hyped up too much. The only people maybe saving a ton of money by going to a hybrid are truck drivers getting 12mpg
I had one of those but in real world it doesn't give that much MPG specially on highway mine was 32mpg to 28mpg. And had fuel tank issue too. Inside cheap crappie plastic too much noise come from outside specially cabin and engine noise
If anyone ever plans on holding on to a hybrid only for 4-6 years and then want to trade in or sell - watch out - Hybrids STILL use batteries.... and hybrid tech is advancing fast.... the depreciation on these Hybrids will be insanely horrible I predict....considering the high starting price....how quickly the tech will be outdated and battery degradation over years will mean bad news for anyone holding the bag after 4 years. Much safer in terms of residual longterm value sticking to the 4cyl tried and tested gas model.
Get a RAV4 Prime. Horsepower gets boosted to 305hp. Horsepower is proportionate to weight. If 305hp was in something like a Nissan Versa let’s say, that thing would be an absolute rocket
If your intention is to tow, I can confidently say that this is not the right car segment for you. However, if you're seeking a dependable and efficient daily commuter, this car segment is an excellent choice.
My 2017 Rav4 can get 34 miles per gallons without the hybrid feature. My 2024 Mazda CX-90 has inline-6 engine with mild hybrid, can get 34 miles per gallons. So, 40 miles per gallon for RAV4 hybrid is not that impressive.
CX-90 is lovely car! I had to go with the RAV4 because of the AWD and the towing possibilities as i tow my boat regurarly. The driveline in mazda cx-90 is unfortunately too weak and it has only FWD. I love the interior though and steering is really great.
@@p1mm3😂 what are you even talking about.. shows you know nothing about the cx-90 at all.. starters it’s RWD base and comes in only AWD and can tow more than a rav4
Great value and great looking!! Y'all always present real world values and benefits. Thank you
You bet!
Love the style, interior, and MPG
$40k for a rav4 hybrid is bananas. Those were $30k a few years ago
This is one of the upper level trims not the base one. Base starts at about 32k now
@@pelotonboys66a few years ago you could get an XLE premium for 30k

They do get great resale value, although as it is Toyota after all

i have the R4 prime xse and its been the best car ive ever owned
Is that the medium level one?
Toyotas the best vehicles on the road
Really ?
Just buy the gas version. I have a 2019 the first year of the new body style refresh. I get 35-40+ mpg on the highway. 30 in city
Toyota has the reliable hybrid drive train... the Prime is enormously powerful... but, the wait is too long!😊
Love the rav 4
Have a 2021 rav hybrid and love it😅

I'm in love with mine ❤
How is the batteries? Are they of good quality
The batteries are the best quality
They use Duracell batteries. The best!
They are insane with these prices I’m never buying a new car.

I guess those numbers mean there's no practical break-even point for the Rav4 Prime beyond the psychological value of having a PHEV.
And toyota is known for making it well past 120k miles depending on owner care of course.

i want a rav4 prime but to charge it at home will cost me around $6 has atm is around $4 so i think just hybrid will be good for me and my family
That’s great, but can you actually find one at the dealership?
My local dealer has multiple
We have lots of them in our area @ MSRP
@@CarConfectionsthat’s great
Cause where I live that very same trim is at $43K - 45K before taxes
Just purchased my wife one yesterday with zero miles. Dealer had like two more.
Many to choose from in my L.A. area, but finding a color and options I want is very hard.
I paid $46K (Canadian $) for non-hybrid. Is it worth it?
Yes it is.
Depends on your budget I guess
580 miles a tank
Yup, California to AZ in one tank.
Wow is it after 1st service or from beginning you got that
Great #short!
Yes but it's more expensive. Is it good on gas
if only Toyota would stretch the wheelbase and put a bed on the back, then they'd have a vehicle to rival the Maverick.
They’ve made one but it’s not selling in the US. They want to sell the expensive ones like every car maker
The way he parked the car bothers me so much
Cool nice RAV4
What is the price
Except for the ridiculous price… sorry but I like the older models that are half the price 👍🏼
Can’t imagine what the next gen will cost? $50k plus
It’s insane in Canada how I have to spend like $35,000 for a Civic or a rav4 being 40+
Also, it is extra quiet!
I had one of those but in real world it doesn't give that much MPG specially on highway mine was 32mpg to 28mpg.

Plus driving like boat
Depends on if you have a lead foot
219hp pushing 3500+ lbs is terrible. I'm assuming the mpg is strictly highway because its definitely dumping fuel everytike it accelerates.
You sound smart
Whoever has this is 😎 cool
Might as well buy Old Gen Land Cruiser
I think 40k is a little much wish it was like 30k or mid 20k
For what this is, 40k is competitive for all the compact SUV hybrids.
@@brokeboy87 I mean thier all like the 4 runner is the same thing is like 35 to 40 pretty much the suv or some were in the 30s or 40

Nope. Hybrid is the future taking the best of both worlds, buy used if anything to save on depreciation.
219 hp is weak no matter what. 325 is as low as I go
These vehicles aren’t made for hp, it’s more for commuting

When I hear hybrid I think expensive
I bought a 2024 Rav4, can you believe it? The seam between the trunk and the body is more than 1cm. Poor quality.
What sucks is your tow rating is like 1500 lbs. Thats barely a teardrop trailer.
