What I find funniest looking back on this is that someone MUST HAVE had to teach Paul how to setup and use a PC, the internet, so on as he's mentioned many times that he neither has the internet at home, nor a smartphone nor a computer lol
I find it strangely comforting that lockdown obviously affected them all. Not their best season but none of us were genuinely right in the head I fear by this point in time.
I wasn’t affected by lockdown and had to go to work every day. I envy you people who got to participate. It’s just too bad none of you did anything productive.
@@The_Gnome_Chomskee Even people who did go to work were affected, although it depends a lot what country you were in. A lot of people found themselves working from home and having to put in more hours to achieve the same thing. Lots of people did many productive things while not being allowed to go out. Some more worthwhile than others. Living in a flat, having children being alone each had its own complications.
The first one was like many Zoom meetings even now, 8 months in! I'm not sure, but weren't they the first to adapt to lockdown conditions? Fair play to them! Not as normal, but what is now?!!!!
Unfortunately, that will be in 3 or 4 weeks time when all episodes have aired. Would be weird to upload 'best of series 60: the first seven episodes' next sunday
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically past?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment?"
Best of that series. Better than most of us were probably doing. The day I stuck a poster on the wall and taught a class sat in my bathroom because I had nowhere else free in the house is the day I realised none of us would come out of this totally unscathed.
@@rebefarfort1244 I don't think we can blame the pandemic for this series being unfunny - more that the lack of an audience exposed the already dire material for what it was
@@wizlez I think you may have misunderstood me. I was pointing out that something can be not as good as other things but still be the best in it's category. I think this was unlike the TV shows because of them not being in the same place. Also a topical news show will by definition have difficulties if most of the world is on lockdown. I actually found it comforting to see that they were all going through the same kind of minor emotional breakdown as I was.
@@wizlez I understood you. I disagree but even if you do not like the show (which begs the question why watch it) something can still be the best of what there is.
I do not understand why they even bothered with this series, it was awful to watch at the time and it is even more awful to watch now knowing that all the lockdowns and isolation was pointless. Some of us with a free thinking brain knew it at the time because the virus was an AIRBORNE virus which meant it did not matter if you were six inches apart or sixty miles and given that all buildings are ventilated lockdowns and isolating was a waste of time too.

They simply post him an iPad with a data sim card. No need for anything else.
“Has Miles just picked up a carrot?”
“Don’t spread rumors”

I like that while most people on tv during lockdown tried to have a well stocked bookshelf behind them Paul sat in front on his dvds.
Covid was weird time
Ian Hislop is the only person I wouldn't question that his "background" is real ♥️
Would love a list of the movies on paul Mertons bookcase.
Ian's cat is as adorable as he is!
29:50
Ian picking out the appropriate suit for mobile broadcasting makes me smile!
It feels like the isolation seemed to bring Paul and Ian closer together
side note, omg doesn't Paul's Hair GROW so fast ?? in series 60 it's practically on his shoulders. I'm jealous
VCM : needs must... LOL
This is all been super great, especially seeing so many guests joining in under the circumstances.
I love them all.

Interesting view into COVID history, it's only been 10 months and there's already history. Why does that feel weird?
Because time has stood still.
Colin 🥰
19 July 2021 and watching this best of seems still topical which is a bit of a worry.
Thanks for posting
i am simply crying laughing at paul’s foghorn buzzer
Ian on the week with Victoria Coren Mitchell, looks like a hippy :)
Thanks for posting.
Its amazing. Didnt realize until today, but over the lockdown episodes you can see the mental states getting worse and worse.
They went crazy.😂
No audience even virtual is strange
Did no one tell Paul Blockbusters is closed.
Doubt Johnson really had it
only one more week of these precious gifts. thank you for your every weekly post to keep the sanity in this house going.

Great Editing. Excellent Ending. Tah Dah!!
@@RIXRADvidz Is it going away? Or are you talking about an interval?
The chopped tomatos thing is weird and Ian never explains
Nigga chop yo own tamatos
Where is Victoria Ian?
W.A.F.J. it all was
Lol missed this one
Great bits
Glad they returned back to the studio for current series, this was sometimes hard to watch. Also Ian Hislop looks 30 years older without make-up on.
I think it is his hair.
I thought that Victoria looked much better without the fake tan they put on her in studio.
Spar shop? 9 of them?
What in the heck is a spar shop?
A chain of deli shops.

Thanks. I could have asked with a bit more courtesy.
Happy New Year
@@jerrypeppler1484 no problem. Did not think it was discourteous. Happy new year to you too Jerry

What can we look forward to next week now that these are finished?
