Enjoyable trip down memory lane. Having done some significant research myself into the history of our National team I was aware of the 5 Stadiums but it was great to see it put into context. Thanks!
Well Hugh what a great lot of memories for this Glasgow lass in Australia. I was brought up in 6 Myrtle Place Crosshill in the 50's! The very end prefab opposite Holyrood school. The park behind us was where the away teams buses parked . I walked though the car park and by the walls of Cathkin to Mount Florida school each day. The church there was the church we attended. I went with my dad on a Saturday, over the turnstiles and stood in the stands in the terraces to watch Third Lanark. I remember sometimes there would be a pea souper fog and we couldn't see the grounds! All the roads you walked I knew. i was waiting for you to mention the late great Jimmy Mason. My cousin is his daughter in law. I have worn Jimmy's Scotland cap and his gold medal! Well done on the video.
I also have newspaper article from 1948 where the reporter took my Great Grandfather Joseph Lawson to see Rangers play. My Grandfather had played for the in the late 1890's. They trained on Glasgow green then. You might be interested in a copy to read.
Hi Gail -thanks a lot for the positive comments that's really great- glad it brought back so many memories -I would definitely be interested in seeing that article -this is my email hughreed621@yahoo.co.uk maybe you could send a photo of it there
@@hughreed621 The caption says that match was 1964. The one I was at was just after Celtic won the European Cup so either '67 or '68. I remember seeing Jinky Johnstone, Billy McNeil, Bobby Lennox, Tommy Gemmell, Ronnie Simpson etc., pretty much the full Lisbon Lions team.
@@hughreed621 The last game Celtic played Third Lanark at Cathkin was in November 1964. The final ever game between the teams was a Parkhead in April 1965.
Cathkin Park desperately needs funding for refurbishment, it still has huge potential as a commercially viable sports center and most importantly preserved international heritage site...
Worryingly the black sign commemorating Third Lanark at the ground near Cathcart Rd has recently been removed as if someone is hoping the history will be forgotten.
@@hughreed621 really ?? There is also a nice 3rd's paving stone type formation, i hope that is still in place, its at Cathcart Rd entrance behind the pavilion...
great video hugh!!
Brilliant!

Absolutely Brilliant
Thanks Cathie
Very interesting stuff, Hugh. I hate football, have never watched a single match in my whole life but even I found this so interesting.

Really interesting local history, Shug. You've even got my house in your film. Great stuff.
There's a clip of that Celtic v Thirds game -maybe that was the one you were at Gerry

@@yobkulcha Must have been in the very last season probably the last game they played against each other
@@hughreed621 If I recall correctly the final score was 7-1 for Celtic.

Very interesting i knew about the first Cathkin but had difficulty in envisaging where exactly it was located.
Yes it was a revelation to me also - considering I went to school -Holyrood- right beside it
Great vid. The middle left image at the start is Tynecastle btw, not Cathkin
Well spotted -I got from a wrongly labeled link google link -I should have looked closer.
Crackin' :)
thanks. ,how invented football. ,,
Cup finals at Cathkin were at the old Cathkin, surely?
The early ones were also at what is now known as Cathkin but from 1884 to 1903 was the second Hampden
Nice wan Hugh
