@@bobbygillespie7687 I read your reply and again, I agree with you. I hear it happening all the time and can understand the frustration and annoyance to people north of the border. As far as the BBC are seemingly concerned, it's England first and then the other British nations second. Okay, England might have the greater land mass (probably) and certainly the greater populace but we are just one quarter of the British Isles yet receive more than our quota. Of course it isn't just pundits and commentators at the beeb it's also, as you say, other media outlets as well. I'm not sure they actually do it deliberately but more out of ignorance which is still no excuse. A few months ago I was in discussion (on youtube) with a person from from the U.S. about music and of all the many great artists and songs that have come out of both the U.S. and Britain as regards Rock and Pop. It was all very mutual but he did keep saying English when he meant British. He could not see that the two were different so I had to gently correct him on the issue. Among the list of 'English' artists he admired were Van Morrison and Tom Jones. I told him that neither were English but Irish and Welsh respectively. It took about three efforts but I believe he got it in the end and it was all done very amicably. I think we can forgive our cousins from across the pond but ignorance over here - no excuse. By the way, I saw your reply yesterday evening but couldn't respond then as I was in the process of getting ready to go to a concert here in my home town. The tribute band to Fleetwood Mac - Rumours of...great night. Stay safe.
interesting history in Hampden, but I don't get the guys infatuation with trying to discredit things like Sheffield United being the oldest pro club and England creating the first league.
I think you might mean Sheffield FC. I never discredited them. They are not the world's first football club to have the credit in the first place. That's a fact. And by the way I love the Sheffield FC story. Nothing against anyone. But 1824 is the birth of the world's first football club. Not 1857. And yes the English football league is the first one. But guess what it was created by a Scot.😁
@@hikerwoody182 yes i would say so. Although i think there is a big argument with Crystal Palace, who claim they are a continuation of the original club from 1861. I never liked the amateur v professional being a dividing line. But that's the beauty of this game. Get the debate going. Loving it.
@@boristheslav9414 calcium fiorentina?? That as close to a claim of starting football as the Greeks and Chinese who kicked human heads about for fun. Nothing like football.
Scotland’s contribution to the development of international football should not be overlooked however the other claims made in the video about Scotland’s contribution towards the development of association football are way off the mark I am afraid. A book could be written to unravel the Scottish spin however I think all that needs to be said is that the Edinburgh football club never played football as we know it nor was actually a proper club. Sheffield FC is recognised as the first proper and oldest football club in the world. It’s FIFA merit award also recognises its massive contribution to the development of the game we now call Association football. Less Scottish spin please and more facts about the origins of the game will be welcome in future.
I might have this wrong but I heard or read somewhere that one piece of clothing most associated with the Scots, the kilt, was originally worn by the English or, to be more specific, by 'Anglo-Saxon' tribes.
Tell it to all the English. See, you did not invent football. Just because you Capitalised it and made it into professional.leagues does not mean you invented the game. I was always going by that football found in Stirling Castle dated about 400 years before formation of English Football Leagues as proof of where origin of Football was from by I accept if that guy says the game was played in China etc b4 but certainly the truth about British football is the game was played long before in Scotland
Football was not invented in China. They had a sport or pastime where a 'ball' or some object was kicked around to each other, but it didn't resemble anything that could be called a football game. Just like any hand sized ball hit with a bat is not necessarily cricket. As for the football found in Stirling Castle - yes, it is indeed the oldest surviving football but we must place emphasis on the word 'surviving.'
Yes and there were games like football that date back to before the time of Christ in many different cultures, they are discussing the origins of modern football and the game we play today. No one really knows who first invented the ancient game and many cultures claim to be responsible, but I think it all comes down to some kind of human nature to want to make sport of kicking a ball past a goal line of some sort, the rules set, approach, and score keeping will vary but it most be some hardwired thing since it seems almost every ancient culture has some kind of game like it.
Everything about football tpdays scottish, or invented in Scotland. D9 a wee bit of research. Goals, rules, Everything. Yous did invent a game where everyone in the village chased a ball about with no end goal though 👏🏻 bravo 👏🏻

I AM SO BLESSED TO BE BRITISH.
LIKE MOST OF US IN THE UK; MY WIFE AND I HAVE A
LOT OF ENGLISH BORN RELATIVES AND FRIENDS: ALSO SCOTTISH BORN OF ENGLISH PARENTS.
WHEN I MEET ENGLISH PEOPLE ON HOLIDAYS ETC
SOME WILL SAY THAT THE SCOTS WILL NOT SUPPORT ENGLAND AS WE LOVE TO SEE THEM LOSE.
THAT'S NOT TRUE.
WE SUPPORT THEM AT CLUB LEVEL AND AT EVERY SPORT. AT WAR WE WILL ALWAYS BE ONE.
THE REAL REASON IS THAT IS THAT SOME OF THE FOOTBALL PUNDITS, COMMENTATORS AND PRESS TALK AND SPECULATE ABOUT ENGLAND AND WHO THEY MIGHT MEET LATER IN THE TOURNAMENTS BEFORE THE DRAW AND FIXTURES ARE MADE.
WHEN COMMENTATING ON GAMES BETWEEN NON ENGLISH TEAMS OR COUNTRIES THEY CAN'T STOP TALKING ABOUT ENGLISH FOOTBALL.
THIS USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN THE PLAYERS DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT, THEY SAY OH! JOE BLOGS DID THAT 2YRS AGO IN THE THE LEAGUE GAME AT ? AGAINST ?
THERE'S ANOTHER WHO DID THIS JUST LAST WEEK.
SOME OF THE ENGLISH PLAYERS WHO WERE PLAYING WITH SCOTTISH CLUBS HAVE SAID THAT THEY UNDERSTAND WHY SCOTS GET ANNOYED.
PS I HAVE BEEN SURPRISED AT THE AMOUNT OF ENGLISH PEOPLE IN SCOTLAND WHO HAVE NO CONNECTIONS BUT ARE
FANATICAL S N.P.
Stay safe.
Queens Park who plays at Hampden Park is the only ever Scottish team to play in the English FA Cup just another random history fact
There's more than QP buddy. Mon on tour. We'll tell you all about it 👍
QUEENS PARK AND RANGERS ARE THE ONLY ONES I CAN REMEMBER READING ABOUT.
I THINK THERE WAS ANOTHER 6???? VALE OF LEVEN?? RENTON??.
Actually I’m sure Rangers got to the quarter or semi final of the FA cup one year and were knocked out by the eventual winners
interesting history in Hampden, but I don't get the guys infatuation with trying to discredit things like Sheffield United being the oldest pro club and England creating the first league.
@@graemebrown2033 so are Notts County the oldest pro club still in existence? I know Wrexham are 3rd
@@hikerwoody182 yes i would say so. Although i think there is a big argument with Crystal Palace, who claim they are a continuation of the original club from 1861.
I never liked the amateur v professional being a dividing line. But that's the beauty of this game. Get the debate going. Loving it.
@@hikerwoody182 lol put in your place ended up changing the conversation coz the guy ye were talking about was in the comments 🤣
@@HectorCamacho67 nope, it's Scottish history, about Scotland. Stuff I didn't know about hence why I watched it 🙌
The thing is though Queen's Park were founded in 1867 and Sheffield fc where 1857 so it's kind of obvious who invented modern football
Wrong.....the game we play today....is the Scottish style of football
How? That doesn't even make sense ya plum. He's already told you it was 'the football club' in Edinburgh. Mong

*angry bear noises*
Yawn
Milllllllllllllllll
You would have thought the english never invented a single thing
I might have this wrong but I heard or read somewhere that one piece of clothing most associated with the Scots, the kilt, was originally worn by the English or, to be more specific, by 'Anglo-Saxon' tribes.
It was England
Give yourself a pat on the back not lol.

Hello am I first
1314 king Edward II king of England bans football in England 100 years before the Scots did learn your history
Yes and there were games like football that date back to before the time of Christ in many different cultures, they are discussing the origins of modern football and the game we play today. No one really knows who first invented the ancient game and many cultures claim to be responsible, but I think it all comes down to some kind of human nature to want to make sport of kicking a ball past a goal line of some sort, the rules set, approach, and score keeping will vary but it most be some hardwired thing since it seems almost every ancient culture has some kind of game like it.
myth - england has 10 times the population of scotland so have always been better. scotland led england in the head to head for over a century.

Correct in England it was all about pass & rush as in kick & run after the ball more like Rugby Union now.
In Scotland it's always been a working class game in England at first it was only played in
Public Schools & Universitys where in Scotland it's was factory workers , mill workers & the likes that took up the game that's why the different styles developed in both Scotland & England The Scottish version in the end becoming the more popular over time.
But the rules we use today are largely The Cambridge rules but not entirely.
@@davidrowan3853
That game is more like Rugby Union & they have a version in Gorgina as in the former Soviet state aswell that game in Gorgina is band now because there was far to many people dieing from playing it this is why Rugby Union is so popular in Gorgina now because of it's similarity to Lelo.
I am a fan of both Football &
Rugby Union.

Why is there English people on the tour that's ridiculous
Delete your comment fool.
Because they want to learn about the origins of the modern game. Don't think we have anything like these old abandoned stadiums in England.
@@mk1aquatic739 I wonder why cause The English have way over 600 teams
Typical scots having to be different to England. Every part of the game and rules including fixtures invented, yeah right. Dont believe any of it
