Finding The Best Doughnuts In Los Angeles | Food Tours | Insider Food
Joe and Harry. Literally carrying Insider Food for years
100% I don't watch anything else on this channel
Wait, there are other things on this chanel?
Their shoulders and delts must be jacked.
I was gonna say. If either of them left who would watch the channel in the end?
Same here. Only watch them on this channel.
Joe and Harry are the main reason why I'm subscribed to this channel
Only reason for me.
Same. Sometimes I change it with the others lol. And the strawberry donuts and them trying to eat them lmao! Too funny
its the only reason IMO
This husband and wife combo are killer
Me too!
I just wanted to thank Joe and Harry for these videos recently. My dad is in palliative care and these videos have been a real comfort and a small source of joy in my day
I’m sorry you’re having to go through that. I’ve been there, and agree that occasional distractions are definitely needed.
My thoughts are with you and your family! 🙏
Thoughts are with you all
Thinking of you. Hope you find the grace and more, more, more strength to go through what you are going through. 🪷
Harry spitting his coffee out made my day
Because your life sucks 😔
He he me too 😅☕️
And the "...drinking my scalding hot coffee" comment a few minutes later had me dying 😂
I see these two legends and I click.
🤡
In these angry and divisive times, this is the bromance we didn't know we needed. Would love to see Joe take Harry to the Shady Maples mega-buffet in Pennsylvania Dutch country.
I for one would like to see that. How does it compare with the Las Vegas buffets I’ve heard so much about?
Yup, that and the Bacchanal at Caesars Palace
Oooo buffet episode!
Smorgasbord?!
I love Joe and Harry. I'm always impressed with how Harry talks about food. You can tell he's got a lot of food knowledge. He doesn't flaunt it though. I loved how he called out the late 17th century origin by knowing how the word was spelled. Impressive. Smart guy. I'm just grateful they don't use words like mouthfeel and maillard reaction.
As a obese person who love donuts, not living in the USA is probably the only reason I'm still alive... those looks fantastic...
Wow. You need to do long-term fasting, intermittent fasting, or the carnivore diet!
My dad used to stop by Krispy Kreme on his way home on Friday from work that was the day they got all their returns that they didn’t sell from the stores and he would get 7 pies and 48 donuts we had the donuts each day laying on the table on a napkin for our afterschool snack before mom got home from work. She was a school bus driver so of course we got home much sooner than she did and then we would get the pie each day and cut it into five pieces cause there were five of us in the family for our dessert after dinner were the good old days
I’m going to be 70 in July. I want 70 donuts to make a doughnut birthday cake for all my friends and family to celebrate my birthday.
thats such a wholesome thing!
Omg wow 😢😢😢😢😢😢 I love your story!
Wait a sec… you had pie and donuts EVERY DAY?! 😯
Those strawberry fruit donuts would go amazingly well with a giant scoop of vanilla ice cream.
I was just thinking the same thing 😂😂
Or real whipped cream, kind of like strawberry shortcake except in a doughnut.
Whipped cream for sure!
The best donuts in L.A have always come from small donut shops in the hood.
Typically run by cambodians
be grateful for them cuz they dont exist outside of california. i live in mid atlantic now and theres no donut shops. only 1 million dunkin donuts, so really there are no donuts. its so bad, id kill for even a winchells or yumyum.
So true!
@@CAxALLDAYand if it’s not a chain, it’s some trendy small donut shop that sells overpriced basic donuts
Why I don't listen to white people about food advice. This channel is some whiteboy shit
4:05 "Perpetual Coffee" "It's got the flavor of this coffee and also the 40 coffees that came before it" LOL!!!
I still remember that strawberry donut from Donut Man after more than three decades. It should be a must visit in strawberry season to any LA traveler.
the donut tour should be a series - i am sure plenty of people could watch a few more donut episodes :) harry and joe have great chemistry and humour
Never change this duo i rate them highly
7:57 That was an impeccably timed spit take. 😆
These two guys have such a grounding, comforting presence and they make me laugh; endlessly enjoyable to watch. Those plain glazed doughnuts - sometimes that's all one really needs. I'd love for Joe and Harry to try the Amish-made ones here in rural Maine (yep, there's Amish in Maine!). You could eat 10 of them in a sitting they're so heavenly light. Cooked in lard and glazed with the lightest sugar glaze. Truly delightful.
Completely agreed, it's like sitting in a conversation you're in as well
I definitely called them "Long Johns" (the donuts and the pants) growing up in the Midwest in the 80's.
from the south.
ive heard eclairs be called long johns
Same! 80s in Illinois and Indiana.
Canadian here. They're called Long Johns :D
Me too but long johns exclusively had maple frosting. Those are still my favorite. Now most people call them maple bars I think.
Long John’s here in Michigan have filling..I didn’t think the ones in the first segment had filling?
Maple Bar kicks Chocolate Bar's butt every day. No contest.
My go to every time or an apple fritter
Watching Joe and Harry stuff the entire glazed doughnut in their mouths just made my day!! Their commentary is always entertaining and this is my favorite "Finding the Best..." episode to date 🤗
Just give these guys unlimited plane tickets and money and have them travel the world and taste things!! One of the best foodie duos on youtube!
Glazed doughnuts existed way before Krispy Kreme in the UK… in Scotland they do long twisted ones called ‘Yum Yums’. A doughnut is usually called a ‘Gravy Ring’ where I grew up… in Northern Ireland. We have really good bakeries in Belfast.
I'm from belfast to. Right up yer gravy ring 🥴🤣.
Yeah I'm surprised the UK guy never mentioned it once, it's called yum yums, the American version looks much bigger though
@@Bptl1234 😂😂
@@HUYI1 i think our yumyum would be a kruller over there?
sampled a few gravy rings in my time nih
Next time on Insider Food: Harry takes Joe on a tour of Blackpool seaside doughnuts?
I freakin love a good donut. Coffee and some donuts are a match made in heaven in the mornings.
Literally the best food series on this website. The dudes have great chemistry on screen
So glad they highlighted a buttermilk bar. Not many places make them anymore, and they are my favorite donut.
I was a donut maker years ago and can tell you that all of these donuts come from a 50lb bag mix, just add yeast and water. Harry, I can also tell you that the oiliness of the donut was from it being over-proved .
I'm a simple man: I see Joe and Harry and I immediately click and watch. Best duo on YT right now, the vibes are immaculate.
I can vouch the strawberry from donut man is the greatest donut of all time
I'm 63 from Canada...it will always be a long john :)
Yessss!
Anyone else notice that at The Donut Hole he ordered two Maple Bars but got Chocolate Bars instead? I guess he didn’t mind.
I do love watching their videos.
California Donuts located on Hollywood Blvd and the 101 freeway tucked by the 7/11 is literally the best donuts in town. It's unpretentious, not glamours, no bells and whistles, but a small, mom and pop shop where they turn our the most incredible glazed, cake with sprinkle, and one of a kind donuts (snickers inside the donut!? Try one with a Reeces Peanut Butter cup!) And the most incredible bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwhich (get it on their onion or everything bagel) is something straight out of perfection. Dunkin could never. Winchells...please. This place will blow your mind, all wrapped up in the perfect pink box...and don't worry, they have vegan options!!!! You gotta try them.
17:57 Those cakey chocolate donuts! Now we're talking! My favourite with a cup of coffee!
I think Joe should try different supermarket meal deals in the uk for Food Tours 😂
Used to live 5 minutes walking distance from Donut Man. I miss the early walks there for the strawberry donuts when I was a kid
I am grateful you started this series. No matter what's going on in my day, things get better when I see a new posting I get to watch after work.
Joe and Harry hit the vocabulary hard with this one! And as a long-time doughnut-shoving-in-the-mouther, this gives me validation.
Boston cream is my most favourite donuts so jelly filled is a close second and glaze
Apple fritters and maple.
AWESOME!! Keep the series going, we love it!!!!
Yay what a great episode. They all looked yummy. Can't believe how many bites Harry took of each doughnut. I have a sugar rush just from watching. Love this series.
East Coaster here. I have never heard of a doughnut called a Long John. Weird. Loved the guys laughing together like school boys! Made me laugh! I wish they could have compared cream filled doughnuts - maybe next time.
Yupp
In the south, they were definitely called long John’s but I feel like it was an older term, because eclair is far more common now. Though I don’t know if long John’s are filled like eclairs are.
After this one,are you doing a best dentist review😂😂❤
Love Dad's doughnuts 🍩 ❤😊!
So I think we didn’t really have glazed doughnuts in the UK but we DID have Yumyums, signature from cooplands bakery. So good.
Greggs have been doing them for ages, better than krispy kreme too.
@@diskopartizan0850Nothing Greggs do is better than anything lil bro 💀 Greggs is greasy cattle feed.
@raveninnsbruck9166 do you talk to people like that in real life or just online? Greggs ice ring doughnuts are better than Krispy Kreme. They have far better texture and flavour and are cheaper. Despite being mass produced they feel more real than the weird fake Krispy Kreme doughnuts available in the UK. The same goes for Dunkin Donuts too. They feel cheap and light.
Glazes doughnuts have been in the UK for as long as I can remember
@@raveninnsbruck9166 Don't diss Greggs, that's dangerous talk
This pair needs to maintain their energy with doughnut calories so they can keep carrying the channel!
Nice to see someone spell Doughnut correctly.
Morrisons in the UK have godlike custard donuts. this episode is making me hungry. need a trip to Tim Hortons for some Tim Bits, buy 50, bring them home and put them in the air fryer 🤦♂️🥰😭😍
You’re showing your Britishness

Liked the pink lemonade flavour. Was bummed out they don't make them anymore.
Hands down, favorite episode!!!
that donut shop coffee really hit Joe today, he was in a good mood for a whole hour!
Keep these episodes coming! I love this series so so SO much! Joe and Harry have a chemistry and charisma like none other! Also I hope you guys bring back Nikhil too!
10:05 that strawberry donut looks amazing. Also when I was a kid my grandfather brought donuts from the local donut shop so much when we were visiting my cousins that my cousin who was 3 at the time asked when "the donut man" was coming back.
I grew up around the corner from the Donut Man in Glendora.... It's a must stop every time I go back to visit!
I cannot say I've been to every city in America, but out of the cities I've been to, which is a lot, LA seems to be the independent donut shop capitol of the U.S.
THE 1 I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR 🍩 🍩 🍩
Love you guys for this 🇬🇧 🇺🇸
Joe and Harry are the best. ❤❤❤
Haha "a war ration"😂 I'm with my British compadre - give me the chew, any day!!
I would call those "Strawberry Shortcake Donuts-Just missing a dap of whipped cream ! Yum! 😊 👍
Yes, a lack of cream there.
The sugar high, crash, caffeine buzz is so real 😂
After the first lot of doughnuts I think I would just collapse from all the sugar, I'm not used to eating that amount of sugar at once
Love this series. Keep them coming.
Given that the US food tours are moving more outside of NYC, next time Joe comes to the UK you need to get him out of London and start exploring some of the awesome places around the country. He needs to experience some of the many best eateries we have to offer.
I love these blokes. Their chemistry is so good. Just 2 guys eating food. Love to see it
18:50 that tow truck is carrying one of those mail trucks
That strawberry donut looked so good. Reminds me of the fresh strawberry pies my mom & I used to get from Nation's Burger Joint. They were amazing! 🍓🍓🍓
Joe has such good energy again in this video! Not as much complaining and whining. He's obviously listened to the comments!!
So glad you went to REAL DONUT SHOPS! I worked in a Bakery that produced over 500 dozen glazed donuts in a day, that actually made and fried them by hand back in the 70's.
0:15 in Seattle, we don't call them long johns, we call them "bars"
7:57 is just 💫
Joe and Harry make me smile. They are great together.
Donut Man! My Favorite
Great episode, Love maple bars and the Tiger tails
You boys are so sweet. For the next WEEK!
I love these men so much. Endlessly entertaining.
Never stop this series. Thanks!
I remember trying Dad's Donuts. It's really good 👍 great way to start the morning 🌄
I’d walk past all those donut shops all day long for a bag of crisps. But when Joe and Harry talk donuts, all of a sudden they seem interesting!
I knew Harry would go for Primo’s after that nostalgia moment he shared with Joe.
Glad you went to good old school Cambodian donut shop. Too bad that place doesn't have the pink boxes though.
Great episode, as an LA native been to three of these donut shops except for donut hole and primo’s donut. But Randy’s is still my go to shop.
California Donuts in Ktown is where it's at. I had them for the first time in college and no donut place compares in texture and flavor. The matcha and plane glaze are heavenly!
im gonna go to LA this weekend for my vacation. ill be sure to visit the donut shops on the videos. thank you for sharing!
You guys are awesome together. When is the next UK visit?
No way there is a new episode after only 4 days!! I‘m so glad!
Even today I was looking at this channel and thinking, will they release a new episode today? Well no, because the last one was only 4 days ago, but here we are 😃
17:35 asked for maple, got chocolate.
I was about to comment on that switch, but looked to see if anyone else already mentioned it. Yep, continuity/blooper in this video. I prefer maple over chocolate, so it stood out to me too. 🍁
i've been waiting for this episode
I just love these two ❤
I worked in a bakery in the 80s and we had glazed ring doughnuts back then. They also used to make the jam doughnuts fresh in-store every day - double jam not dipped in sugar ftw.
These look great. I’ve had donuts all around the world and weirdly the best I’ve ever had were from Poland. The donut chains around krakow are just on another level.
That mini donut eating competition was great
Wow!! I spy with my little eye.....my favorite variety of donut....vanilla and chocolate frosting filled donuts at the first shop. 🤤🤤
Later in summer Donut Man does fresh peach donuts that are soooooooo good.
Yum!😋
The classic glazed can’t be beat, except that strawberry overload, that strawberry donut was that girl, fruity and tangy!
Such a pleasure to watch
I NEED these episodes weekly
Long johns with filling inside ❤
Getting worried about for when these food tours episodes run out😢 need to film more haha
My favourite doughnuts are the "Homer Simpson" Pink with sprinkles.
Gonna have to drop everything and watch this rn
We had glazed doughnuts in the UK in the 1970s - was always my favourite
New to your vids but the guy with white hair truly loves his job and made me watch the whole thing. Great job!
I been going to donut man for almost 20 years. I never knew you would do this series. They have one in LA now.
Sidecar doughnuts is a must!
Randy's. Always thought it was a tourist trap, then I tried them and they are the best in LA. Apple fritter is done in the middle and not burnt at the edges. They also have a long john with bacon. Yum
