Absolute load of rubbish. The fig of eight was ( is) used to.enable the angler to hold the line in.hand whilst moving.along a river bank. Or lake bank quickly without hindering the line. I think it has been adopted by modern reservoir fisherman, mainly to be flash
At :43 seconds, I clearly state you can either hold the line or let it slide through your hand. Your use may vary based on its application. In my application, it is to retrieve the fly from a downstream position after swinging the fly for American Shad on the St. Johns River in Florida. It is a successful technique that has caught hundreds of fish over the years. The intent of the video is to demonstrate the technique, not to cover its history or every application. On my water, it is not a commonly used technique, so I can't comment on the quality of its "flash," nor do I fish reservoirs, so I will leave it to the "experts" there.
does the line go over the index finger when retrieving...i cant see that
well explained :)
what kind of rod is that?
It is a pen rod.
What size line do you have on that pen rod?
If I recall it is either a 0 or 00 weight custom line that came with the rod. Good fun for small panfish!
Thank you :)
Stretch the memory out of that line.
Dude... this is a pen rod! The reel is like two inches in diameter. There is no amount of stretching that is going to make that line straight. lol!
