My favorite player at St Joe's, even over Jameer Nelson. This dude was straight buckets!

I remember seeing him at Gratz and loving that tenacity and toughness he played with (which is DEFINITELY a Philly thing)...I also remember the Stanford/St. Joe's game like it was yesterday...Luckily, we got it in Alabama, which made me happy as I'm a big big 5 fan. And I also remember what Casey Jacobsen said before the game, and seeing Marv just go off like that was unreal. I think he went 10-10 from inside the Arc, and was just purely unguardable that day. As someone pointed out, had he left St. Joe's after this season, he certainly would've been drafted - unfortunately, the Hawks struggled the next year and missed the tourney, which hurt his draft stock. Even with all that, he's done a lot in his community, so even though he didn't have a huge basketball life, he's definitely done so much other good, which is awesome.

Marvin I'm so proud of the man you became. You are a great example for children who came up as we did. Not the basketball yes that's a big deal however after the game. Your identity was basketball you found your way and became the man your father raised you to be. You didn't do what most do get money and forget about the place that made them. You opened stores in the hood where you don't see people who look like us. You employed your friends who after paying their debts to society wouldn't have been employed in that society they speak of. Your cheese steak plàce is more proof to children like us they can do anything.. Coaching and being a father the latter being your biggest accomplishment is just a few more things that sets you apart from any basketball player. We are all proud of you S.P is proud of you..

He did so much more than that. He built stores in his hood with food that's not outdated overpriced or simply not available. He is a true hero and someone these kids should learn of. He is a winner in life. Most lose their way after a disappointing end to their career. Not Marv he excelled.
