Tamil new directors are behind expensively technological, brilliant plots, science fiction, time travelling, space fiction, zombie stories, all inspired from foreign language and Hollywood movies. Meanwhile, Ram is seeking true cinema, which is ultimately visual, spiritual, and trance. It's more art than story telling. Ram makes his own way on a commercially-thicken industry like Tamil. Peranbu will be his best. don't seem that he casts first time a "star" than normal actors like in his previous films. Mammootty was always primarily an actor, who is a beloved one of artistically and internationally recognized film makers in India like Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Bharathan, T. V. Chandran, who had cast him many times in past. Now Ram also chose him; no wonder.
