the M26 was an improvement of the older M15 , the steel one piece shell was also made of a thicker stronger steel and weighed a little more , the M26 liner was also more comfortable than the older design, the m15 and m26 were produced in several different shell sizes , small & medium seems the most common, I have a size large M26 that fits me well , the shells have markings like A - B - C - D to indicate shell size
Looking at an Adrian I got at auction, has the 2 part M26 helmet shape but also the M15 aluminum lining (The leather lining looks out of place as what looks like slots for the tabs don't actually line up)
Hi, Some m15 adrian Helmet were reused by the french army in 1940 they were repainted in kaki color over the blue horizon. For the insigna in front of the helmet in french we call that a Rondache. On the m15 helmet the rondache was the m15 varient. But in 1937 the french army decide to change those rondache for a new model it is the circular badge that you are talking about. Most of the m26 helmet of the french army during 1940 still had the m15 rondache or the new 37 model. Overall a good video as always keep up the good work !
I have a M1915 from Verdun that is missing the top comb. I found some surplus M26 combs. Are they close enough to fit. They have several rivet spacings, so you must measure. Thanks. Doug
sorry to be asking around here, but could somebody tell me wich is the width and the length of the m26 helmet? its being hard to find those numbers in the net and i have no acess to a m26 or any other french helmt to get the measurements of the most exterior points of the visors on in the helmet. thanks a lot
I purchased a thin adrian helmet years ago. It was painted green and had a slight point to. The front visor. I thought it was haunted. They saw some battlefields are still haunted. It had a round leather piece that fitted around the inside but nothing above
Cool I love history and my favorite war to learn about is WW1 and my favorite helmet is the French Adrian helmet I also really like the one with the bugle on it
The French m.26 helmets were produced with the ww1 model badges before producing them with the M.37 badge. Also the Belgian helmet with the sad or second type lion is called the m20 and is not welded or riveted on the side.
I read somewhere, that the M15 Adrian Helmet weighed 700 grams & was formed from a pressed-steel that was less than 1 mm thick (0.7 mm?), but none of the presentations I have seen on RUclips have given any of the precise specifications. I don't know if that weight includes the helmet liner or not. I can't remember the source I read, so I am not sure that the numbers I just gave you are correct. I imagine the M26 would have had a heavier weight & thicker steel, but again, no numbers are given anywhere.
I would recommend using French eBay for searching for Adrian helmets, there is a a lot of them on there, at affordable prices, as well as this there are reproduction liners, in all sizes!
Want to tell the difference between the two without having to go into all these details? All you need to remember is that the M15 was wide while the M26 was not as wide

French M15 and also M26 were made in at least 3 shell sizes like small medium large
The metal pieces in the M15 are spacers to make the liner tighter on the wearers head.
So I have a green Adrian that’s pressed out of a single sheet of metal but also has the aluminum strips inside. Any thoughts on what model it is?
Thank you for this video, just picked up a m26 today from a collector

iMovie, huh?
Where would ya recommend buying at least a reproduction that is equal in quality to the original?
Yay new video!!
I have a M26, Belgian origin, in black with the lion on the front. Does anybody know what this could be worth pricewise?
It’s a Gendarme helmet probably worth about $50-100
Where did you get those? You have a Chasseur Adrian M15! Never found one of those! Even the Belgian and the M26 are extremely rare!!!
Antera eBay is your best bet if you live in the US
@@worldwarguy459 ok thanks
Which one is the one with the long front seam
Not sure what you mean.
@@worldwarguy459 I bought a drain with a long front bill thing what model is it

British Patriot1815 thanks
I have a m26 Belgian helmet from the rijkswacht collor black
What an awesome new video and for the differences of the helmets. And can you do a new video on your WWII German impression?
Ethan Perry thank you and I might consider it.
@@worldwarguy459 awesome and I can't wait to see when it comes out.
Are the later versions not more rounded????
Bernard Deneckere what do you mean?
@@worldwarguy459 the shape of the helmets . More spherical during WW 2. give me yoyr email adress to show a picture....
Bernard Deneckere your way of knowing the difference isn’t correct. It’s much easier to check the liner system, and the construction of the shell
The chinstrap metal parts that are attached to the helmet are called bales. Good vid 👍
It looks like a Pith helmet but Slightly Diffrent.
Corrugated sheet metal to provide the crash/crumple zone. Hardcore.
The RF initials stands for " République Française " or " French Republic " in english.
where can people buy m26 helmet reproduction
Want to tell the difference between the two without having to go into all these details? All you need to remember is that the M15 was wide while the M26 was not as wide
SplatM4n it’s much easier to check the liner system and the number of pieces to tell the difference.
thanks playboy!
