This was an awesome video full of timeless wisdom, with one minor exception: Buddhists are by no means ascetic. In fact Buddha himself rejected asceticism after having tried it and not finding much spiritual value in it, which led to his great enlightenment andthe resulting teachings of such as "The Middle Way" or what we know as Buddhism. The Middle Way signifies that the path to enlightenment isn't through extreme highs or lows of spiritual practice, like in asceticism, but by simply knowing and practicing The Four Noble Truths, which anyone can do besides monks. While we're talking about monks, they don't they really have any extreme practices like what an ascetic would, nor do they represent the majority of practicing Buddhists, everyday lay people do. It's kinda like thinking that Gregorian monks make up or represent all Catholics lol
Wherever you go, there you are. Superb episode
Agree with you. We are exactly where we are meant to be. Otherwise, we would be somewhere else, and nobody would know us.
