11:12 Pete you playing the Jurassic park theme? Sounds pretty close
Does it have a Boss FZ 2 Hyper Fuzz in there? Or any other comparable Pedal
Typical! I just bought my Katana 100w 2 x 12 last month. I never even posted my review yet ;0(
Can you run 5 effects at the same time given that two of the pots are stacked concentric pots?
Would it be fair to call the mark II 2x12 combo a duel katana?
I've just realized that one reason I'm hooked on these Anderton's videos is that, in an age when it seems like we're surrounded by lunatics, these guys are nice, and they're sane and polite, and they're relaxed and having fun. It's wonderfully refreshing to see, it calms me down; and it never fails to restores my optimism and good mood. Thanks, guys!
Not to mention they are immensely talented.
Someone just watched Joker
Spot on Fred - and they don’t take themselves too seriously, but really talented with it.
100%!!
It feeds my guitar gear geekery, while also they are just the nicest dudes and keep me company. Pete's playing in particular is unbelievable too.
Totally agree!!! 💓 them too!
When i was first starting out playing guitar, i wanted to be able to play like slash and carlos santana. Now i want to learn to play like pete.
I just saw Slash play Tuesday night.....amazing player!
I want to play like Andy from ProGuitarShop
After years of playing you should only one to play like one person, yourself! Pete has a style he's developed that first perfectly with who he is and what he likes. Do the same for yourself!
@@arstxz319 Woosh
Pete and Bea, to cover all the bases!
Pete says "I can't do all that stuff" while doing all that stuff.
The only reasons i am watching this video
1. I am getting a boss katana arriving tomorrow
2. I love andertons
3. I wanna see everyone dance
hey, did you got your boss katana? is it good to play metal songs like a metallica or maybe slipknot? sometimes i also like to play somethink like a acdc or black sabbath. Is it good for it?
same im getting it in 2 days, the 2x12 100w
@@gta4590 sure man i ll tell you im also lookin for a metal sound but the Tool modern one
@@gta4590 it’s basically good for anything
How loud is it? did you get the regular mk2 or you got the 100/212?
So when are we getting an album of Danish Pete and a loop pedal?
I could listen to that man play all day!
Danish Pete and Lemmo.
@@OniDasAlagoas Holy shit
@@focusource Yeah but they're jam tracks, I just want Pete, soloing over Pete, with Pete on the bassline!
^^^This^^^
Yeah, he‘s great!
Pete is a freaking monster. Phrasing, tone, dynamics, pulse and rhythm. The amps are awesome but man I am impressed.
True Tone comes from the soul of the player. He’d be able to make a line 6 sound excellent
love the boss kataner
Greg “poly-octäve”
😂
That’s interesting, I am thinking of The Boss Katana. Is boss kataner better?
@@EnglishVeteran lol
I like playing it on chuesdays I reckon.
As a confirmed tone snob and valve amp only dude, I have to say, these amps sound unbelievably good. Boss have knocked it out of the park with these things.
+ they are really well priced(Cheap) and light weight and no need to worry about braking/changing tubes!!
Same here! I build tube amps and modelers usually don't impress me but this little amp is astonishing.
The dancing intro was perfect!
The original ones are already the best bang for your buck, and an epic deal. 😁
Whenever watching Pete, It's so refreshing to watch and hear guitar and gear reviews that aren't 500 mph shredding. I can actually hear what the product can do!
i like both i wanna hear the clean overdrive and the distrotion riffs to see if its flat dynamic nasaly etc just playing single notes doesnt cut it alone for distortion
Man, Cuban Pete was laying down a sick rumba beat in that intro.
Oisin McPhillips He sure went Boom Jigga Boom at the beginning!
He’s the king of the rumba beat
I'm pretty sure he is South African really
@@krisberntzen he's to nice to be a white south African
@@krisberntzen Danish, dude. Danish. "Cuban Pete" instead of "Danish Pete" simply because of his sick rumba beat.
The intro killed me, when they started dancing lol
I already own the Boss Katana 100 wt amp, and that already does wonders for me! It brought a revival in my motivation and inspiration to keep playing guitar. This rendition does sound amazing and fluid indeed! Cheers for the showcase!
Jeez, every time I hear Pete he raises the bar (which is already at a dizzying height) for his playing; this dude's the real deal.
And all he uses is pentatonics lol
subisci Its amazing what you can do with them. hes just unimaginably creative
@@rickcar94 So do all the legends lol..
Scout Rifle agreed, much better than that clown Rob Chapman
The "Two knobs in one" is an amazing feature because in the first Katana you couldn't turn ON both the Booster and Modulation effects at once (because of the halfway knob). But now you can!
You basically can with an android app. You also have access to 12 different amp types set many many features. The Fender amp type is already included in the MK I model but you only can access it via app or tone studio on windows or mac
@@danielrohregger994 Oh, I knew about the Tone Studio on Windows but what is that Android app? Never heard about it!
I thought the app was only available for the mk1 Air amp
From what I see in the video you couldn't turn them both on, are you sure this is possible? That would be a decent feature IMO.
@@EmeraldZoneNetGMG I use it everyday
The jam starting @ 27:35 Pete plays with such emotion. You can feel every note. What a talented dude. Wow!
He's always so close to playing slow dancing in a burning room
lmfao
He’s an admitted big Mayer fan, so there’s a lot of influence on Pete’s playing from John:)
I started with a positive grid spark and changed it for a katana, they're night and day, this is a proper amp, I started with no pedals and used the katana to find my sound
Being a Katana owner, I've watched many Katana demo videos and ain't no one can make that amp as sweet as Pete does. 🤘✌😎
Pete demos something and makes it look easy to sound amazing. You buy it and realise how far you have to go before you can do the same.
I don't know any word but Majestic to describe the outro Jam
Captain Lee that was, I think one of your best playing in a jam session. Your solo was awesome!
Pete you're great as always.
Loved the vid!!
@@shumailkhan7205 I will definitely check it up
@@shumailkhan7205 Which one, what is the title?
I can't find, there is one vid when only chappers played in the intro
14:07 telecaster on the neck pickup with distortion. Instant Tom Morello
Tom Morello is one of the most overrated guitar players in the history of music. Millionaire "communist" also.
@@nikospaleologos3907 ruclips.net/video/pMALdj8u_do/видео.html
More people need to play music. These guys are so happy when they play. Look at that smile on Pete's face!
Pete is the most inspirational guitarist I’ve heard in years.
go listen to Tom Bukovac's channel then. Pete and Tom are my guitar heros
This editing is fantastic! This channel deserves an award. I really needed cheering up today guys. Thank ya kindly
That dance bit at the start actually had me both laughing and dancing at the same time.
Epic ending jam. Especially when Lee kicks in the volume swells. Gorgeous.
I don't think there's anyone i'd rather *watch* play than Danish Pete. I wish i had that mind (the musical aspect, not the naughty bits) and those hands.
Just bought a MK2 100 2 x 12 for gigging. Too old (58 yrs old) for transporting the half stacks. I got it to use with my Helix/Headrush/GT1000. I really hope it helps the Helix, the volume is way less than the 1000 and Headrush.
Bummer that there's still no fx loop in the 50W. As a bedroom player I have no use for a 100W amp, but I still like to use a looper. All those fancy effects are completely useless if the looper has to go into the front. I get they want to sell more of the more expensive one, but it seems a bit arbitrary.
Totally agree, I'd rather have an effects loop and sacrifice the effects.
Except for the overdrive maybe..
Interesting. Thanks for this comment. I was watching this thinking of selling my katana air for the MKII 50 for that exact reason. Looks like it's need the 100. In which case I might wait for a reduced MkI. Or...
Agree a big mistake, the only reason I'd switch from my mk1 to mk2 would be the effects loop, now I'm going to see if the 2nd hand mk1 100w come down and switch to that. So no new sale, from me.
you can play the 100 at bedroom volumes easy though, so really you could always just pick up a 100w and use it in 50w or .5w mode.
@@RyanWright this may just be my plan... 😁
Awesome intro music by Pete, I can tell he is a session/top 40 gig player, great player. As for the Boss Kat MKII, I personally have no regrets purchasing one for the weekend gigs I do. I basically ended up selling almost all my pedals and just hang on to just a couple of sentimental ones.
Awesome vid guys! It’s a lot of fun watching Pete and Captain...
I've watched this video about ten times in the last few days. As a result I've bought the 50W mk2 Katana and the Boss Rc3 looper. Great service from Andertons, as always! And Pete's guitar playing is just beautiful - could listen to it all day!
@@shumailkhan7205 I just plug it in and it works. However, because there's no fx loop, if you've recorded something then change your amp settings (say, go from crunch to lead setting) the looped recording will take on the same sound. However, I typically play my katana on "clean" or "crunch" so these shortcomings of the amp don't bother me too much. It's an amazing amp for the money.
Gents you guys been putting some love on those Kitanas.I have a Jc120 from the day, but that Katana is a multibeast!! NICE demo!!
Just ordered the Katana II after watching this video. Going to be running my custom Tele nice and clean.
1:20 “pointing at the camera Pete” KILLED me.
Pete teasing Dio’s Stand Up And Shout is the best thing I’ve seen from Anderton’s in months.
I wish they added the fx loop to the 50 mk II
yep they should have improved the stuff consumer wanted but instead made a new amp with shit we dont want .. just by the 100 now, the are dirt cheap there your fx loop
Guys, thanks so much for this. A couple years back I bought a epiphone les paul standard and the guys at the local store talked me into a spyder iv practice amp because it had more options than other amps.. I've hardly ever wanted to use the thing because it just sounded awful but I didn't want to make the jump to a $500+ amp either so it just sat collecting dust and I played the guitar with no amp.
Had a katana mk 2 delivered this week after watching this video a few days back, and I cant believe how good it sounds in the 0.5w mode for quiet practice. It makes me want to actually play more often, and barely cost more than this awful spyder did when it was new. Great recommendation.
They still haven't done the one thing that I think would really push the katanas over the top. I wish they would some how make some kind of illuminated light around the controls bass, middle, treble volume ECT. That way when you switch channels it would light up in the spot that you set even if the knobs were changed for other channels. For people like me that forget my settings. I hope all of this made sense. Basically a reference point of how a channel was set before you made adjustments on another channel for when you wanna tweak something a little instead of jumping from one extreme to another you could turn the knobs back to the position that was saved and adjust from there. Like once you saved your settings into the memory there would be a light indicator always saved until you adjust further and resave and the light would then change to that spot. I know slot of people don't like slot of bright lights and all but I think that would be a huge improvement even if it pushed the amp price up a bit more! I would like to hear what others think about this idea
We need nobs on the front and lots of lights. Doesn't matter if they are useful, just needs to look like a airliner flight deck.
I just can't deal with how *good* Pete is, he's just so effortless and fluid in his playing. His sequence at 12:00 on the crunch demo is just so nice.
Really wish they put a simple tuner on mk2. That's the only thing that was really missing in my eyes.
Guitarist in my band tuned up to practice with one of these yesterday, holy shit what an awesome bit of kit! Great tone, ridiculously versatile, loud as hell and so affordable. Blown away!
I’m gonna learn that bit at the beginning it’s so good!
Well, I’ll give it a good try.
Or maybe I’ll just be happy listening to Pete’s version.
Yes, I’ll just listen to Pete.
I've got a Mk1 Katana 100 and I love it. I am thinking of buying the head version for live performance instead of my Helix as it's just so easy to find a good tone I like with the Katana.
I never thought that the Katana could get any better!
You know what's good loopin is when you realize, hey they loopin here and it already went around four times fore I noticed. That's GOOD loopin.
Absolutely brilliant to hear Pete kinda showcase this amps cleaner tones has me sold on getting one. Really lovely to hear what it can do and tbh the clean sounds have really improved which was my reservation on getting the mk1
Never thought there'd be another guitarist to be my role-model apart from Andy Timmons, but now there's Andy and Pete. Imagine this dynamic duo in action!
Slažem se
bought a blues jr as my first amp. I mostly use it for home use at
You’re out of your mind if you would take a katana over a blues jr
I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anyone else who can coax the same sort of feeling out of a simple Tele as Pete. That man’s playing is just so pure.
I would have loved to see the Mini get a mk II as well
Too soon for me. I’ll stick with my Original. I did find one trouble spot with the Katana 50 combo. I was using it live and hit the front end with a spark mini booster for extra solo volume and .... nothing changed. It does not like the clean boost. So I reached back and turned up the master volume for louder solos. The amp sounds better and better with more volume. The notes sing and ooze rock and roll cream.
Great video as always friends, congratulations. Allow me to make a correction on minute 23:15 of vídeo....the Katana-50 can store 4 memories and from Katana-100 you can store 8 memories, using the button PANEL to acess BANK A and B. You are amazing...All the best....💙🙏🏻
Thanks that was good info!
Finally ordered my 100. Pretty excited, my only amp so far has been a 12 watt orange and I'm excited to finally get some fx and a 12 Inch speaker 😂. Also I'm so glad they added the power amp in input. I swear I was complaining about this not existing on combos just 6 months ago.
A little Fearless Flyers thing going on in that intro.

Oh I love this community. Vulfpeck that shizz
Love Peter's playing . Very expressive and dynamic. Makes every guitar and amp sound great .
Wish I knew this was coming out last month after I saved up an got a standard 2/12 when I could've got this damn you boss
That purple tele must be the best sounding guitar ever!
Also, Pete is amazing.
If y'all like Pete's delay and looper playing then you should definitely check out Bernhoft, he's pretty dang good. The Captain should do a Captain meets with him.
Jaqen H'Ghar his looping and writing on Streetlights incredible.
I bought 1 of these last week, just waiting to go to the country in the middle of nowhere to see how loud it is, can't wait, the clean tone sounds sweeeet, the distorted tones sound a little abrasive to me but it should be good craic
I think you had the volume thing backwards ... crank the channel volume to saturate and then use the Master volume to bring down the overall volume. That was their guidance on the Mark I. Either way ... the amp sounds downright awesome!
Correct. Also, when using the line-out, the master has no effect anyway so it'd be pointless cranking it. The gain works the pre-amp and the channel volume (which is like the "master" on a normal amp) works the power section. The master knob is like a second, over-all master.
For whatever reason most people seem to say the Katana works best with the master way up.
@@paulcharlton4788 Yes, I've heard that. Not my experience though.
@Luke Robinett I suppose everyone has their own ways of doing things. Whatever fits best :)
Yes, keep sharing ,
I liked the clean channel so much that I just sat in guitar center for a Long while just playing different guitars through it. Than I bought it lol
After listening to Pete's playing and tone at the end of this I'm left thinking "What else does anyone need?" I mean damn that sounds good!
Pete’s got some serious skills. What a tune.
The Katana series is really great and Boss did a good job with this update while still keeping all the good from the original! Nice job - cheers from the USA!
Started my day with this and now can get it outta my head.
The playing at the end was stellar- super sweet Pete! Great video.
Possibly the best beginning EVER!!!!
I've got the Katana 50w, and Air... all i need for the moment for my apartment setup..
Watching this video (and not owning a Boss katana amp), is like being in a musical talent show, as a judge...facing off the performer, listening...listening...and it is just a matter of time when you hit the big red button... BOUGHT!!! Someone will hit it sooner, the other a minut after.... these sounds and capabilities are amazing!!!
Can you do a comparison between the mk2 and the artist? I think it would be interesting to see if the mk2 sounds closer to the artist than the mk1 did in the first comparison video.
I have the Artist and was hoping this MKii wouldn't immediately impress me more. Both are great. No regrets and probably won't buy the new amp, no offense to Boss. It is great.
Pete makes everything he plays sound great!
I just bought the Katana mki last year. Boss is after my money.
Correct
I'm taking my Katana outside and diming it after work. I can't believe how good these things sound at high volume.
Does it means we will have Epic Deal on first version? :D
damasterkarej Imagine how quickly they would clear the warehouses if they gave a 30% discount :o
Yeah its the best amp under 500 dollars at just 200 bones... already a steal!
Okay you guys sold me on the Katana. Just picked one up today and have been blown away! They had the wrong price tag on it and I got the 50W MkII for $189 usd. Some serious bang for your buck.
I just snagged the last one Andertons had in stock (100w 1x12), looking forward to its arrival :D
Wow! The Guy on the left is really killing it with his loops. And a cocky awesome solo! Inspiring fingers
The Power Amp feature is seriously useful - puts this amp ahead of many of it's competitors for me as a Helix user.
I just received my Katana MK2 100 1x12” today. I love your videos. I can’t wait to jam shopping with your videos. Brilliant!
Some major pedal manufacturer should make a Danish Pete signature model looper.........they’d make a fortune.
I had the mk1 and loved it, bought the mk2 50 and it was great! Loved it so much I returned it and bought the 100w version! Best solid state amp on the market and the foot controller makes it brilliant! Don’t hesitate you won’t find something better for the money
I need more videos of the captain and Pete 😂 cause I have watched them all!
I love to Andersons because they always play the lovely and beautiful melodies that you will enjoy listening.
Sounds like is gonna have a great time with this
Big Buckethead vibes there at the end. Like "Sail on Soothsayer". Absolutely gorgeous.
My suzuki katana had a great tone
Lee Anderton and the Plimsoul has honestly become my favorite tone period
Now I REALLY want a Tele! They're always demoed as chicken picking country machines, but it's got great full yet bitey tones as well if you want
I agree. I'd really like to know the precise model of that tele. So nice!
There are so many great amps out there... hard to choose... I'd love to see a comparison between the Katana, the Super Champ, and the THR from Yamaha.
I could listen to Pete play guitar every day of the week
Boss has definitely upped the game with this one.. At this price point it's become a no brainer for average everyday gigging guitarist ! I shouldn't make the comparison because I love fender but I think they dropped the ball with the new "Tone Master" series, don't get me wrong I think the things sound great but they didn't put an effects loop or a drive channel on the thing while asking almost 3 times the money of the Katana Mk2 - plus the Katana's "Amp in" feature that turns it into a powered cab option for your profiler etc... I'm gonna git one !!!
1:11 I was going to make a sausage party joke, but I somehow have attended parties with even less female presence
That intro had me just groovin for a solid two minutes. I love this already
That amp sounds incredible for the price wtf
I love how at 3:27 they talk about general market manipulation with such a casual tone. It really shows how complacent consumers have become, and also how Boss rejects that idea and improves upon an idea as soon as the improved idea is ready.
Time for buying used MK ones at low prices!!!
They are already cheap now....
Still no tuner. I'll keep my MKI
@@skyg0d they have outboard tuners now. Unbelievable the times that we live in. I'm just joshing... suit yourself.... I'm a spendthrift myself
Iip H pahahaha! That comment 😂
@@skyg0d most people forget they have a $700 to $1000 electronic in their pocket with good microphones. In fact new phones are so precise you can visually tune it within the small range of what most tuners consider "in tune" with a single indicator.
I got the Boss Katana Mkii 50 9 days ago the tone studio makes that amp do what no other amp does it is the best amp I've ever had the tone studio comes with 60 boss pedals and the sound is incredible awesome I'm getting the MKII 100 212 next for more power I recommend it it can djent thrash metal to blues and jazz
1:10 I can't stop laughing, you guys are just great!!!
Hate to be a bummer here, but I think you should know. I purchased a Katana in 2018. Loved it for the first three years. Unfortunately, like other solid state amps I've owned, the tone began to change. I played it at mostly low levels, never giged. It has become a piercing, screeching tone torture device that can't be corrected by adjustment of the tone controls. I assume the capacitors are shot, but fixing them would cost more than the amp did. It was fun while it lasted, but if I had to do it again, I would spend more on a small tube amp.
