    You're amazing. Thank you. I've learned so much about my own practice & craft by watching your videos, which is something I've never experienced. I've had so many teachers over the years since I was 8, and you are the only one who's taught more than just how to mindlessly read music and memorize scales & finger patterns. You give us the freedom to create beautiful music from right where we're at.
    Thank you for doing what you do!

    Just like my love for the piano over time, my love for this channel has grown, especially Lisa.
    This video ties up neatly what I've been trying to figure out over the past few months. I've been learning for under a year and I already know how to play songs and am confident that with practice my skill will develop and with time especially.
    Either way, thanks for the free, concise info. Btw I appreciate the set as well it's so chill and that bookshelf in the back is 💙

    As a 25 year guitarist. This year I've started piano. I find it sooo much easier than guitar. The shapes and theory just seem to come to me where as guitar was a genuine struggle for the first year. I love your lessons.

    • @Snarkapotamus
      @Snarkapotamus 4 года назад

      Piano is a LOT easier because the patterns repeat and you can see where your hands are. On a guitar with standard tuning, the strings are a P4 (5 half-steps) apart and the B string is a M3(4 half-steps) and a single simple chord like a C-Major can have several shapes and locations. On a piano, there's a couple of inversions and that's about it...

    I keep coming back for more of your videos which are incredibly encouraging. I have suffered with arthritis on and off all of my life. If i had not run across your videos i dont think i would have had the motivation to make my childhood dream come about. In my last comment i shared how i had chosen to paint rather than play . However, thanks to you, i am truly enjoying the keyboard and also the best keyboard/piano instructor anyone could have. My gratitude to youtube for making this possible! You asked for some song suggestions. Do you think you could make a step by step tutorial on how to play one of the most iconic songs of rock n roll. Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven. I want to impress my husband! The Rose -i love how Bette midler sings this song. P.s. you have a beautiful voice. Hope you like my suggestions! Thanks for being so fun and simple. We need more of this.

    I've really been neglecting my sight reading for the past 6 months or so, but I'm really only interested in playing modern music and have been just training my brain to learn all the major and minor chords and inversions and the usually chord patterns in each key. I'm also staying sharp on all my major scales (i've definitely been neglecting the non major scales) Just doing that is keeping my plate pretty full.

    What is this method’s limitation? I play guitar for 7years and I stared playing piano about 6 months ago (quarantine), and since the beginning, I started working like this (no piano sheets, only chords over lyrics). I started to get really good at this and learned pretty much all the Chords formulas so I could play any song. But when it gets to some classical music, it is harder because we have more complex harmonies in the right hand, and sometimes in the left as well playing at the same time. My question is: Is it possible for me to get to a point that I can play any song (including classical), or should I just start from the beginning and learn how to play using real piano sheets?

    • @brycelacy3545
      @brycelacy3545 4 года назад +1

      If you want to be able to play classical music, I think it’s important to start from the beginning by reading sheet music because slowly you’ll be able to develop better coordination between your hands, this is especially important for complex melodies and arpeggios. If you’ve already got most of the chords and key signatures down pat then like this video shows you can play most pop songs and even BGM, it’s important to further train your hearing (aural analysis) to better transcribe as well. The main limitation of this method is that you won’t develop complex hand coordination. I’ve only started playing kind of seriously 5 years ago, but I hope this answers your question.
