omg this long comment looks so scary and annoying i’m so sorry i just talk a lot, love you guys and the podcast, here are my thoughts on the tipping thing i worked for a corporate pizza chain (there are only 8 of them in california so not like big corporate but corporate nonetheless) where we were constantly understaffed and worked to the bone. we had the set up mike is describing where we’re not serving you, you order with the cashier (which was like the closest thing we had to a waiter/ress/insert inclusive of all genders term here) and i think the only reason it was set up like that was so they could make the most money by not having multiple workers being waiterz (that’s my inclusive term for the moment). they just had to pay 1-2 people (which often wasn’t enough) to be the cashiers (and occasionally 1-2 barbacks and the 1-3 bartenders helped too) rather than having a few waiterz! We had bussers, runners i dont think we always had. The cooks would bring out the food! They would schedule us so we wouldn’t get overtime, I had really nice management (one of the best of all 8 from what i heard), but the set up as a corporation was totally fucked. All this being said, I 100% appreciated the tips and tried out different bits when it came time to “flip the ipad” to try to get a good tip!
