I am black man born in EU with EU passport from Croatia.No one believes I am Croatian when I travel ,so they demand ID on the top of the passport.If I dont carry both I am rejected from entry.Passport alone does not suffice if you are black.

@proud Dutchman. I'm an African who still lives in Africa with my two children who are British by descent. I couldn't go with them to the UK because the regulations are made in a way that won't allow the one to move forward legally. On the other hand, many African women I know moved to uk with their 100% African children. And they have been granted asylum when they're all just economical migrants. I feel frustrated by the whole situation. And people making it by fabricating and cheating. But then, it's the system that encourages them to cheat. If there was some sort of short-term visa that allows these migrants to work and then go home, Europe won't be stuck with all these people coming and becoming dependant on the system.

I don't know when this segment was filmed, but security features are improving all the time. You have to get someone else's passport and hope the picture looks like you and you are not stopped.

Not really, this is from 8yrs ago and remember that they adapt to new changes too. They have gotten better
I drove to the uk through Dunkirk to Dover. I forgot my passport twice. One time the police just waved me through without checking me and the second time the ticket controller asked for my driving license with my name on it. It worked both times.

In italy there are both version of National ID card: paper and plastic (like the spanish one). You're able to request the version you prefer. Of course is easier to fake the paper....
Now they don't do the paper version anymore, at least in my town. Only plastic version. Maybe it's because of this
easy way this is the last and oldest Id card they've shown. The new one is made up with plastic. So lounge yourself without prejudices. An Id card is not a real problem, anymore. Believe or not. Problems are when our police can't identify them if they, as immigrants, refused! And when they disappear, very common, because are so many, we are plenty of them, you can't do nothing. I know the people of Greece very much and I thank you for what has been provided to the peoples suffering from wars, but I did not understand why the European countries, for example, did not conduct studies in this regard such as the organization of asylum based on classification of refugees according to certain Magyar Age of learning and kinship, and also emphasizes the acceptance of random asylum so as to reduce the number of annual deaths and does not constitute pressure on countries such as Greece and I hope they will not treet all cases in the same way

Man, it's hard to think back to a time when I wasn't an anarchist (at 46). Was the State always this bad? Create a war, create refugees and then leave them with nowhere to go? BBC Actually did great work there. I worked at the Airport Im a policeman and thats exactly how it happens. They usually get cheap Spanish or Italian IDs and they rarely work. Its just way to easy to spot the fakes for an officer who has been working at the airport for months. But even then, an experienced officer can, lets say "smell" the refugees, they are just very easy to spot. Other than that, expensive passports and/or stolen ones, are also easy to spot, just not as easy as the other i mentioned.

It saddens me that the BCC would portray the struggle of refugees in such a negative light. When you've been waiting 2, 3, or even 4 years as a refugee in a country with no economic opportunities and whose people barely acknowledge your existence, it only makes sense that you would try everything you could to leave. We're all just human beings looking for better lives; human desperation can make people do things even they would never imagine... If you're going to essentially call refugees criminals, please educate yourselves and understand their situations first.

Well essentially, they are not fake. They are so well made that its almost impossible to spot. And when they scan them, they still get the info on the computer. The only thing thats different is that when the info pops up on their computer, there is another persons face there. But since they probably check thousands of passports each day, they cant be 100% thorough with each one. Its human error.
