I opted to go where the city assigned me where the population of Black student was very low. I never, ever suffered any colorism while I was there. I love this beautiful black woman. She is the example of what a strong black woman is 💛 I love how deep she goes into things just talking. Her acting career is superb love love love you Mrs. Viola💛💛💛💛
Gem, after gem, after gem, after gem, after gem. I loved watching her ‘channel’ her highest self for those clear, impactful, and profound messages. She has always been serenely beautiful in my eyes, and as I sit here in tears and chills, I become even more grateful for Viola Davis.
The way she talks is like she is illustrating a story when answering each question. Each sentence is colorful, vibrant, and you can feel her emotion. Amazing!
So powerful. I appreciate how real she is about how she hasn’t “arrived” yet. I feel like in a lot of interviews people give off this energy as if they’ve gotten past certain things that we all grapple with as humans, but she’s speaking realness in the sense that she’s still a work in progress. She’s still dealing with the human emotions that we all go through and haven’t mastered yet unlike some people that make it seem like they’ve figured it out.
Viola is dropping gems this morning “there’s no sacred space to be you” I felt that one people only want to celebrate the good about you the rest they just give you blank stares or criticism, and her need to know what to do with herself at 56 hit me. I’m there now at 28 I guess it’s never ending for some people no matter how much you accomplish you still want more.
Good true friends will celebrate u no matter what. I have a hand full of friends and most of them think I’m superwoman. But when I had a low point I started to see who was a true friend. Not that the others weren’t but I had to acknowledge what place they fell in. It’s ur journey, everyone wont make it. God is the only one that sticks closer than a friend. But ppl are the hands of God on this earth and God will definitely equip ppl with what u need during ur journey.
We love you Viola. My grandmother on my dad side name was Viola. She got hit by a train when my dad was a kid. She was also darker than a brown paper bag. I wish she got to be here to see her kids grow up and become adults. She deserved that. But I know she’s an ancestor speaking to my dad and the rest of her kids clearly. Thank you for being a visual of who she could’ve been 🙏🏿
She is the essence of beauty and as a dark skin woman I’m honored to share with her the beautiful shade of being“darker than a paper bag “ she helps me remember to readjust my crown in this world. Much love and respect
This Interview literally was an eye opener for me. It helped validate a lot of things I’m going through in my life right now. Love her Realness and Honesty. Love her🙏🏽🙌🏽😊
I was WAITING for her to come on The Breakfast Club!! THIS is the epitome of black excellence and regality. She deserves all of her accolades yet still deserves so much more.
Ms Viola keeps it 100%! Wise, beautiful, curious and funny. So many gems and points of reflection: - Find a sacred space to be You! - Who around you is emotionally available or not? - Pain /Trauma = to Joy/Peace - Imposter Syndrome (alive and kicking) - Unforgiveness blocks life ...and the list could goes on. She is a heart-centred black woman and an extraordinary role model of her gifts. The stats about actors that "make it" and earnings was mind boggling. I'm excited to read or listen to the book. I love her voice so audible may be the winner!!!
Viola Davis on the breakfast club. Man they have a legend in their seat. I know she about to drop some real knowledge today. Her, Angela Bassett, Jamie Foxx, Samuel L Jackson and Denzel are my top five favorite actors
Viola is so so wise! She dropped so many gems in this interview. When she said, "You haven't met all the people who will love you yet." It really almost made me cry. I love this woman! I literally just did a reading with the title "Forgiveness Is Not For The Other Person, It's About You". If you feel called please come check it out!
I am a big fan of the TBC but this interview brought tears to my eyes, an a 39yrs old black woman I always speak of trauma, growth and representation matters. This conversation is always needed and should continue. Sending vibrations of love and respect to Mrs Viola Davis.
I agree COMPLETELY with Viola. Her stating about her parents: They did the best they could with what they had. This is exactly what helped me to move forward and forgive my parents. Exactly. So many people will not delve into their unresolved childhood issues. It - must - be - done! It must be. To move forward, one must go back and think, ponder, remember, and cry it out. Journaling is profoundly cathartic for this reason. It is something most therapists strongly recommend. I do as well. It is what brought peace to my heart and soul. I have forgiven my parents, and it was one of the most painful, difficult and emotionally exhausting things I - ever - had to do. Bravo, Viola! I think you are an awesome person. I am very proud of you, and I am grateful you are on this Earth to lead us as we walk a similar healing journey as you. May God bless us all. 🙏
It's something about her spirit and the way she carries herself and speaks that touches my soul. She has a way to make you look inward at parts of yourself that you didn't know you needed to look at and celebrate your triumphs. I love some Viola Davis!
Viola Davis is just what I needed this morning. I was driving with tears falling. She comes from a deep place when she speaks. When she spoke about darker skinned black Women I felt that in my Spirit. Awesome interview 🙌🏾🙌🏾❤️ absolutely beautiful
Now THAT was an amazing interview! I love how they all flowed together. You can see the awe from Ye, Envy and Char and how they all truly admired and listened to her. That was incredible.
Honestly I am 29, been through so much the last year. I really really really needed to hear how important it was for her to find therapy and help. Her words are so earned and hold with a presence. I am so grateful.
WHAT?! Viola Davis?! Instant click and watch! Edit: I just got to the part where she talks about passing the baton to yourself and I cried because I’m at a point in life where I’m looking for the next version of Brandon to pass it to. I feel so lost and don’t know how to push forward or where to aim. She just gave me inspiration by saying that.
The beautiful part is that we all go through this. As long as you keep doing the internal work, you will get there!!! Don’t be down on yourself.🙏🏾 and 💪🏾 for the journey.
OMG...I am a black woman from Montreal Canada, 67 yrs old. I can relate to sooo much of Miss Davis's experiences. Thank you so much for having her on & for her insights. WE QUEENS.
When you hear the advice from other survivors there is a sense of urgency to follow their journey to release yourself from that same pain. Clearly that pain never go's away. the becomes manageable. I truly appreciated her speaking her truth
I love Viola because she has a way of speaking, where as you kinda can hear her inside your mind. Like the things she's saying we all intuitively know, feel, and do.... But its like all of our consciouss' are on this breakfast club interview... It's comforting seeing someone who speaks love and inspiration into us as mankind. A true humanitarian! Love & Light
I feel somewhere in between that feeling you have after a Holy Ghost filled church service and the high you get after an intense workout. This interview was amazing. Viola Davis is the TRUTH! Thank you Breakfast Club! Thank you Viola!
One of the beautiful things I see about Ms Viola Davis in the context of this conversation, is how she responds to their questions. A question gets asked, she answers, "Yes, yes,..." or "No." Direct and thoughtful. I view that as sign of respect, sincerity, honesty and courage.
Viola Davis is one of our 🐐's. Her acting always puts me in a trance and draws me in. "Life is a constant reassessment of where you want to be in life." "The number one regret of the dying is not taking more risks" Viola Davis 🙌🏿

This woman can captivate your heart, mind and soul. What a beautiful spirit we have been blessed with through this amazing black woman. May you continue to shine a bright light on us all Ms. Viola Davis!
Charlamagne is really the goat, he’s grown so much in his career. It’s usually the questions that he asks and how he’s able to carry an interview for me, but this one he really was just mostly sitting back and listening letting Angela and envy have it. And you can tell when someone like a viola comes into the show he’s mostly observant and intrigued. It’s super amazing to watch.
Viola Davis' responses in this interview were articulated in such a rich and legato manner. Her experiences from her early childhood, young adult life, wife, and, now, as a famous actress, spoke to me with such power, such meaning and so much love. When this interview ended, I was gasping for air to breathe because her responses filled me up with so much power and energy and I felt as if I were running as fast I could to use my own life experiences as lessons for others, as this beautiful melanated sister has and is still doing. This was a heart wrenching and wonderful interview that fed my soul, today. Thank you, The Breakfast Club, and thank you Mrs. Viola Davis, my silent mentor whom I pray to meet in person one day as she had the opportunity to meet with the great legendary, Cicely Tyson.
This interview with Viola Davis in my opinion is one of the greatest episodes that the Breakfast Club has done. It was raw and unapologetically spoke of the black experience. Loved this so much. 😘🤗✝️🌹
I absolutely LOVE HER!!!! I never even thought about having a favorite actor/actress before because I don’t really watch more tv like that, my passion is music. However, if O ever had to say I had a favorite, it would be hands down Viola Davis! It’s just something about her is that is simply amazing! She just has that something special, on and off screen. I’d LOVE to meet her in person. I have already thought she was just extraordinary. I mean really, words just can’t explain. I can just feel through the screen that she is just a good spirit. Her goodness seems so great that it is palpable. She inspires me and I really look up to her. She’s amazing and I thank her for just being her. Now, I’m off to get that book!!! Audio of course because reading makes me sleepy…lol 🤷🏾♀️
I usually don't comment. This was the best interview you guys have done by far. Viola has such a beautiful spirit. I would've loved to be in that room just to feel the energy she brought.
This interview completely inspired me! God had a hand on Viola Davis because she is so beautiful in so many ways and we’re all lucky we get to witness her greatness 🙌🏼
She is speaking of "The Story of Miss Jane Pittman", regarding her Cicely Tyson comments. It was an amazing movie where Ms. Tyson did amazing work. In regards to Ms. Davis, this interview was much needed and quite powerful.
Mrs Davis hit the nail on the head ,when she said ,she prayed for her husband, and got exactly what she prayed for ,but still thinks ,he had a fault...I did the same thing prayed for a man who'll treat me like not just a queen, but treat me royal ,I got him and run didn't know how to handle his glory towards me ,but at that time I was young 23 yeats old, so I didn't fully understand, what all this glory should feel like ,even though my parents had that glory ,I'm 53 now and I understand that glory and know that I would understand all the love ,care understanding, patience, respect, loyalty, kindness, warmth forgiveness, in one person ,he passed away ,7 years ago ,that was the man I prayed for who would give me the moon and the sun ,moral of the story is don't asked God for things you're not ready for ..because I wasn't at that time .
Believe me you mark my words trademark this comment. Viola Davis, and Octavia Spencer are the greatest actresses that don't get enough recognition. I have watched Octavia Spencer go from every side part to a full roll made for her. I'm so proud that Viola Davis is getting her flowers now versus later

I love that you guys are so in tune with great books and people in our community who are impactful! Thank you so much for this interview! This one hit home🙌🏽
I like how they interviewed her. No talking over each other, Cthagod acted mature. They gave her respect because she respects herself. 💯 a true example of how a great woman carries herself.
I met her, in Sept 2016, just a few months before she got an Oscar and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She is everything and more---GREAT more---than I ever could've hoped for. She made me feel so seen, and took a few pics with me and we laughed liked Aunty and Nephew. I was so nervous but she hugged me and eased my fears & excitement over meeting her. Y'all, what u see right here is the real, awesome her. But even this doesn't compare to being in her presence and feeling her beautiful, inspiring authenticity. She is the real deal; a QUEEN of the highest order. I will never forget that day. She's AMAZING!
As a very dark man our trauma is bad too but I will say I had 2 dark sisters mine was not as bad as theirs. Many black folks deny colorism or how bad colorism is like white folks deny racism
@Belltown Daisy Please don't use your ignorance as facts. Colorism is a byproducts of racism which is GLOBAL. There are woman across the world I'm every country in the continents that experience racism, misogyny and colorism. It's manifest differently. Google manifest please.
I am here for the transparency. Her answers are thoughtful and detailed. I think this is the type of interview I prefer seeing on the Breakfast Club. Sometimes they ask their guest super inappropriate questions, but this was so respectful and tasteful.

Something I could never get in my own community at the time. What a shame. I don't know whose to blame, the White man I suppose, but ain't nary one of those households had a White man living in it, shit much less a Black man, let's keep it real. Black folk just pass down this toxicity from one generation to the next. I had to be done.
@@maryfields877 Hi Mary, Thanks for replying. Same here. I feel the exact same way about blk men. The damage is unbearable. I also got tired of holding grduges so I forgived but never forgot the experiences. And kept my distance from many men. I also find that many will say things to get a reaction that feeds into the toxicity. I dont entertain it. I can completely relate.
I’m sorry this was your experience 🙏🏾

Gem, after gem, after gem, after gem, after gem. I loved watching her ‘channel’ her highest self for those clear, impactful, and profound messages. She has always been serenely beautiful in my eyes, and as I sit here in tears and chills, I become even more grateful for Viola Davis.
I put this conversation on repeat this is gold ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The way she talks is like she is illustrating a story when answering each question. Each sentence is colorful, vibrant, and you can feel her emotion. Amazing!
So powerful. I appreciate how real she is about how she hasn’t “arrived” yet. I feel like in a lot of interviews people give off this energy as if they’ve gotten past certain things that we all grapple with as humans, but she’s speaking realness in the sense that she’s still a work in progress. She’s still dealing with the human emotions that we all go through and haven’t mastered yet unlike some people that make it seem like they’ve figured it out.
Her transparency and honesty are refreshing. So glad that the entertainment industry is making room for these types of conversations.
YESSSS
She's amazing! Love your profile pic of the different colored hands btw
Yes so true 🙌
Exactly.... I love her honesty, humbleness, and transparency
Is she really? Or is she really just trying to sell this book?
Good true friends will celebrate u no matter what. I have a hand full of friends and most of them think I’m superwoman. But when I had a low point I started to see who was a true friend. Not that the others weren’t but I had to acknowledge what place they fell in. It’s ur journey, everyone wont make it. God is the only one that sticks closer than a friend. But ppl are the hands of God on this earth and God will definitely equip ppl with what u need during ur journey.

“How you love & your willingness to connect to them defines your life”
So many gems in this interview- beautifully spoken
Ms Viola keeps it 100%! Wise, beautiful, curious and funny. So many gems and points of reflection:
- Find a sacred space to be You!
- Who around you is emotionally available or not?
- Pain /Trauma = to Joy/Peace
- Imposter Syndrome (alive and kicking)
- Unforgiveness blocks life
...and the list could goes on.

Hello. Where is the reading located? Thanks.
So many GEMS.... "you haven't met all the people who will love tou yet." At that very moment thats when I lost it.

One of the beautiful things I see about Ms Viola Davis in the context of this conversation, is how she responds to their questions.

Charlamagne is really the goat, he’s grown so much in his career. It’s usually the questions that he asks and how he’s able to carry an interview for me, but this one he really was just mostly sitting back and listening letting Angela and envy have it.
