It’s the fact that even Tanya at such a young age even knew that what he was doing wasn’t right and she KNEW to run and the fact that junior knew she was little and decided to try to take advantage of her even though he knew he was wrong it’s scary that this happens to people
She was a smart little girl. I'm guessing her parents and/or her school taught her about this. About what to do if someone is touching you or making you uncomfortable and how to escape the situation. She knew exactly what he was trying to do, she knew it was wrong and she knew to run away and scream for help. But it wasn't enough. 💔 This is why as much as it scars them for life kids have to be taught when they're young. Tanya wasn't able to get away but because she knew what to do in that situation at least she went out fighting. If kids know what to do in this situation hopefully they can get away.
This episode hurt my heart and set flame to my soul. What really gets me about it though is thinking about how many REAL children are truly taken this way. It's happening every day. EVERY DAY. how many childhood friends, uncles, cousins, neighbors, teachers have been the predators in sheep's clothing? We can say, "it's just a show" or " just a dramatization" but the truth is that this is a reflection of society. And THAT is the saddest truth of it all.

I knew it was him by the way he was acting there was no way it was Athena’s father but the fact that he didn’t stop at Tanya shows that maybe Tanya wasn’t his first the way he immediately chased after her and how weird he was acting he was probably always like this and it makes it so much more disturbing when you realize that when Athena said “he used to chase me all around the orange groves” that it wasn’t for fun he was definitely after Athena the sick bastard what makes even more sick how the father can even defend his son and help bury that poor child.
Honestly, anyone else figure out it was Junior right away? They paid way too much attention to the truck at the beginning, pretty much indiciating it was either Junior or his dad, and when Junior stayed pretty silent it was dead obvious. The second I saw Junior at the party that pretty much cinched it. Though I do wonder why he was so sloppy with helping dig up the body instead of sneaking back while they were at the hospital and digging it up.
I think this is my second favourite episode next to Athena Begins...it may have been predictable (I mean the episode was called the Devil You Know) but the acting by young Tanya and the chase through the orange grove moving from Tanya and Jr to Athena and him with the Nina Simone playing was just awesome cinematography and it pulled at the heartstrings. I'm just so glad that we get this full circle moment. I've been waiting for this episode since she mentioned it back in season 2 and it was equally heartbreaking and satisfying.... She FINALLY got him!
Awesome Show, Very truthful on America’s People, and the tragically landscape of all cultures the whites slave owners raped the men, women, and children and the blacks copied the sick behaviors. It is what it is😢
Bro I knew it was him and his dad when they walked away from Athena in the beginning. He was like, “well we’ve taken too much of your time. We should get going.” And his dad looked so sad. I knew it then. Which makes me think 1. Why didnt he move the body once he knew they were gonna dig up the foundation? And 2. Why 9-1-1 had to do me like this?? I knew it wouldnt be Samuel cause 9-1-1 isnt *that* kind of show. But I was holding out hope that it was a simple incident that went bad or an argument between children. I wanted her death to be a panicked accident sooo bad. But when he said “you’re filling out”, I had to pause and walk away before I watched the rest. Her running away calling for her sister punched me in the gut.

He is an evil serial killer with a sick fascination with little girls. Tanya was not his only victim and the worse part is his father protected him. He used to chase Athena through the groves too. Shudder to think if he had caught her.
He is predator it was obvious his intentions weren’t good he may not have planned to kill her but it was obvious he was going to assault her. He killed her si she couldn’t tell. Similar to the movie The Lovely Bones they implied what was going to happen but did not show it as it is a sensitive subject.
OMGOSH I didn't like this episode it was corny. I hate it when the show focuses on 1 person. Just like when the made the show about Mattie/Buck. Hated it. Could not wait 4 it to end.
I just realized Athena said he used to chase her through the orange groves she said it like it was just fun not realizing she could’ve been next

Part of me always knew it was him, he just seemed too nice.

I thought it was the dad
I think someone was always at home and he couldn’t risk being seen. Plus he was trying to act innocent and hope they blamed someone else.
or maybe he had no idea that the body were hidden at Athena's house. Father said "just go". he might think he bury her somewhere else.
this scene made me cry, poor little girl, she was so pretty too

He didn’t have time to dig up a entire concrete foundation without being noticed.
Plus someone was always at the house.
Question, why does Athena feel so strongly about this, and how she got “closure” from this? Are the family and Junior related to Athena in any way?
I had to look away a few times, just... tough
