Seeing a man trying to objectively criticize Sonichu is like a fever dream.
I applaud him for his professionalism. I wouldn't have been able to critique this without laying into Chris for his delusional narcissism.

One of my favorite sonichu moments is when rosechu wakes up from being knocked out and asks the cliché line “what happened” EXCEPT unlike everything else sonichu ACTUALLY explains EVERYTHING that just happened in the previous page in a long winded long ass paragraph it’s a very underrated moment
Chris was indeed ahead of his time, deconstructing the amnesia trope, who needs that trope when you can use exposition dump
I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone wake up from being unconscious and they pull the amnesia starter pack:
Grimacing while holding their head in pain, followed by looking up and asking what happened
I just think it's funny that Chris didn't understand that if the audience was there for it, the post-amnesia info dump can take place off screen. Reading or hearing a long-winded summary of what you've just seen is kind of obnoxious.

Have you read Rosechu's Story? It's a fan comic that retells Issue 0 in Rosechu's perspective (mostly episodes 2-3) and recontextualizes a lot of the questionable decisions made in the comic. It also gives Rosechu and Sonichu actual personalities. It was discontinued since Chris started to copy from it.

I remember my writing teacher making a point to do that, cause in a era of gaming, internet, and etc, you must grab your readers attention asap. Tough that was like 10 years ago, so who knows.
Berserk throws you into the action on page 1 well
Thats only a good idea if you have the skill to characterize during the action. When a story begins with action and no character, the reader has no real reason to care. That can be a turn off for some readers.

The fact this IS Chris's wishfulfilment/retcon fantasies is the main problem with this. Because a LOT of the things he mentions and things that happen only work when you know behind the scenes stuff. There's a chunk of stuff missing in-between bc Chris assumes that coming in you'll know the IRL events that inspired his stories. That you will know about his love-sings and his attempts to ask women out, that you will know who Mary Lee Walsh is and why she is bad. but what is most disturbing and delusional is that he expects people to know these things AND BE ON HIS SIDE. Like with Mary Lee Walsh. He expects readers to feel he'd been wrong when a Dean told him he can't just hang posters and hold signs asking girls to hook up with him and have a kid with him. same with the security guards...he expects people to see him as the one who was wronged when he got thrown out and banned from the mall for pretty much walking up to women and sexually harrasing them./
I can kinda of relate to him a little bit when he made the principle look evil but yeah Chris Chan is a bad person
I don't see a problem with the attraction signs. That said, looking back on what he did to that other "Boyfriend-free girl" I can only imagine what he would have done to a girl it worked on...

That seems to imply it is actively trying to hit you. I don't see how you can rate the accuracy of something that doesn't aim.
Chris has a history of assuming everyone he speaks to knows the same information he does upon saying it, so youre probably correct.
No, he hit Chaos. Chris meant the Thunder attack took down Chaos's HP most of the way, and that one one attack should defeat him, which they do in the next two panels (not shown in the video, but it's really not conveyed well in the comic either so)
I'm trying to write a story, probably even make a manga out of it, and this was very helpful on what not to do when writing a story.
Even with context, the Sonichu series as a whole still makes no goddamn sense and you can pretty surmise that this Chris Chan character, the supposed author of this series, is more or less a misguided, yet terrible individual with some rather off-putting wish fulfillment fantasies.

I have always been morbidly curious about this comic, never actually read it, but the maddening whispers tempt me to open its cursed pages and indulge in its depravity every time I hear the name “sonichu”

I think a better example of a good comic with bad art is Tails Gets Trolled. That comic is littered with bad art and tons of typos but the story is genuinely interesting and the characters are well written.
The art is not actually that bad in a way. I have yet to find a drawing that captures half of the confused energy that Tails has in that iconic panel
In my opinion, the craziest thing about Sonichu the comic is that Sonic literally only appears the one time. In this timeline, I guess Sonic just kinda gave up after Sonic Adventure.

It is a so bad it's good thing. The Issue 0 - 3 are bad in the "good" way. After that it went more down hill, well as much as Sonichu can go downhill.

The series is like that till issue 10 issues 11 - 12.9 are complete garbage, issue 13 was ok I guess, and I don't care about the comics past issue 13 because they managed to be worse than 11 - 12.9

Wow, this video was posted just a few weeks before the incestchu scandal and Chris Chan’s arrest broke. That whole speech about why jerkops shouldn’t stop Chris Chan’s love quest now comes off much darker and is basically a villain origin speech. Chris Chan had a very self entitled view on relationships and is why the “romance” between Sonichu and Rosechu lacks any depth.
A catastrophe to other artists maybe, who will forever toil in the shadow of this masterpiece.

Trying to read Sonichu is like trying to decipher the journal of a madman.I have only been able to read snippets of this crap.Also without understanding the context of Chris Chans life you wont understand half of the characters.Its also really boring to sure you have the stuff about the trolls which is pretty funny,but most of the comic sucks and is hard to decipher.

I just came across this channel and im already starting to love it! don't forget me when you become big!
Sonichu is so weird because Chris really made it a defining element of his life and persona, but there's in reality only like 200ish pages of Sonichu total, written in a time period of about 5 years, half of which is about either Chris' personal life or his online escapades. Nonetheless Sonichu is a defining element of CWC 20 years later, even as we still haven't gotten issue 11.

This analysis is really interesting to me on a personal level. I read the comic well after I knew most of the meta stuff, so I always looked at it as a part of CWC’s real story rather than as a comic.
The sonichu comics aren't even as bad as people say, they're worse

the way Rosechu is written is kind of misogynist it's kind like calling a girl a dish washing machine it seemed very stereotypical with shopping and cooking which is a common female stereotype
The first episode doesn't sound that bad. Some problems, sure, but about on par with Mighty Mouse. The second & third also sound ok, in a sort of Saturday morning, adventure serial, pulp magazine sort of way. With better art I could see these as semi-popular fan comics. The last story sounds like a more disturbing version of Fletcher Hanks.
