I love the idea of a vacation rental! Hotels with little kids/babies are so hard because you are all in the same room and my baby goes to sleep at an earlier bed time than us which makes it hard. That house you stayed in looks amazing!

Vacation rentals are my go-to as well! Two tips: 1) compare reviews on aggregator sites (ie VRBO) and property management companies as the latter seems to edit or remove negative/neutral ones. 2) I've had success with better deals when calling to ask "is this the best deal that's offered?" Because phone reps work on commission, they often can discount a bit more. :)
We used Airbnb at Disney world and it was such a better deal! We also did a VRBO in Oregon that was super expensive but totally worth it for the location and amenities after we split the costs up between a couple families. The only downside is the cleaning costs add up quick if you only need a night or two. In which case I go with hotels.
