As a fellow Irish (Catholicism has fallen by the wayside, following a trauma I have never been able to remember, but my parents gave up on god with immediate effect) citizen - I live in the UK, though not in Ireland - I've always liked Mel. Though unlike Mel, having always been aware of addiction and my addictive personality I go out of my way to avoid anything that may knock me from my happy family life. I have one bottle of wine a year, I don't - nor have I ever smoked, I rarely gamble and bizarrely 13 is my lucky number. Everyone makes errors, it's just thanks to Mel's stardom, we all know about his. He's more than proven his worth.

The Bounty & Legal Weapon franchise was great I also watched What Women Want & The Man Without A Face & Ransom & Bird on A Wire & Mad Max series & Brave Heart ( knew it was an Oscar winner) The Passion was very difficult to watch. Worth it. I do remember when it was released to our local theater it refused to play it due to violent content. Hypocrites because this theater played many violent films

Mel Gibson is a genius. His brain is like his kidneys are - connected. This is the reason why he has such a comprehensive insight in things. I really adore him and he is a gift from the gods to us. This variety of organs gives you so much insight, horizon and energy, that it is hard to handle, because, think on your own... who ever in this world can educate someone, that has exactly these variety-condition of so much energy, so much insight and such a comprehensive understanding of everything? Noone, that is a average human model. So he had to find out on his own how to live in a human world as a semi-god. I think he is aware of his special condidtion. Because this condition just makes you aware of itself, when you have it long enough. May he bring us even more of his genious art. I am thankful, that I can live in a time, where he is on this earth at the same time, and see what he produces.

He's a good man. My mother's known Mel since the 80s and he's a very good person, generous, and has a great sense of humor. I was sickened by how Mel was treated simply for being an imperfect human being like the rest of us. The media do not give a rat's ass about right or wrong. If they did, they would focus on the real evils tearing this world apart. They just wanted to get higher ratings by bashing a good man who had some bad days.
