One thing you missed to mention is the act of playing "Deusi" and "Bhailo" in which different groups of people go to people's houses and entertain them with their dance and music and bless them with prayers. In return, the homeowners thank the playgroups by gifting them foods, sweets and money! Enjoy🙏

Thank you sooooo much guys you couples are most welcome to our great historical capital city Kathmandu. Actually you guys are very lucky especially to be here during these great national festivals based in Hindu Religion observed in all over our beloved nation Nepal with great festivity . Let me explain you guys about the gist of this festival so that you will be more clear about it that why we Nepalese celebrate this festival only 5 days ? What is the meaning or point to observe this national festival every year ok ? Obviously
We say it Thiar a great lightening festival comes a year and it is celebrated only 5 days also called Yama Panchak (for to please Hindu death God Yama obviously to get smooth transition for our spirit to the way of Heaven ) so not long but each day has special meaning of it like in Day One we worship a black bird Crow offering him foods on the balcony or roof because we believe that this bird is a messenger of Death God so when a person dies his/her spirit will get in peace as this bird has pre informed to him about being well greeted by the member of that family.
The second day we worship and well feed to our Dogs as we believe Dog is the doorman of Death God so if we feed and give especial respect to him then any dead member of spirit will get easily entrance to be in his palace.
Third day we worship to animal Bull because they are the best helping hands of our farmers while cultivating rice in their farms and still they are used in village farmers who don’t nave modern agriculture tools and equipments.
On the fourth day we worship Cow a very sacred animal Goddess of wealth and peace because no matter whatever occupation we do but without money we can’t maintain our daily livelihood so this animal has alway played a very significant role in our Hindu culture from birth to death.
Last but one on fifth day Every sister in Hindu family she worships her brothers offering them 7 colors on their foreheads sweetmeats foods and blessing for their longevity and prosperity and in returns they bow down on their sisters feet as symbol of great respect offer them money and clothes and in the evening there’s great party in their houses with several relatives and invitees likewise with great pleasure and enthusiast finally we bid farewell to this national Hindu festival Tihar lightening festival.
And wait for another year !!
But the most interestingly the warm colorful scenario of this festival always bring all of us in unity and peaceful existence in this world and rest in our hearts for ever like a souvenir for peace, harmony of all sect of our societies no matter whichever religions or belief you belong but always tries to spread the message of maintaining Peace and Harmony to the entire universe!!
Well in your observation and prospect You guys have however so beautifully scripted and translated about our national Hindu festival thru your true feelings with great wide smiles on your faces sounds like coming thru the bottom of your Hearts . Thanking you and Wishing you both a very happy journey and loving memorable swarm stay of this great city Kathmandu and finally last but one be home safe to your native land great Africa !

goddess lakshmi, the goddess of fortune and auspiciousness is worshipped on this day which is also called 'lakshmi puja' the homes are thoroughly cleaned, decorated with flowers, illuminated with lights and rangolis (the colorful murals that you saw everywhere), lamps are lit and the entrance of homes and shops are decorated with garlands to welcome her. it is believed that on this day, the goddess walks into your home and blesses your family. at 8:26, the woman is making a path for her to walk in, also marking her arrival. diwali or tihar as a whole is celebrated as on this day, lord ram, goddess sita (an earthly incarnation of the said goddess lakshmi) and lord ram's brother lakshman returned back to their home in ayodhya after spending 14 years in exile. this took place around 10,000 years ago, as stated in the epic ramayana, and since then, for thousands of years, their homecoming is celebrated with the same pomp and excitement, the same love and faith. may goddess lakshmi bless you both immensely. lots of love.
